After almost 18 years it is time to archive this one. I am unable to maintain it in a timely manner any more.
Like smallwombat we found it by accident while trying to work out how to get to GZ through the fallen trees. There's a lot of water in the cache still. It should probably be replaced and relocated.
This was a weird one. GZ is in the middle of a pretty overgrown patch of scrubs, logs and underwood. We found a narrow trail, which ended after 5 m, and just as we were about to give up and turn around, we spotted the container. This cache definitely requires maintenance (and/or archiving?) as the container is in a pretty bad shape with a cracked lid and as such, it was full of water and mud. Thankfully there was a pencil in the box which allowed us to sign the soaked logbook.Nonetheless, thanks heaps for the cache and for showing us Baker's Gully, a place we have never been before despite coming to Bright quite regularly.
I figured it was about time I made the trek along the waterway to this cache and the even older nearby lookout one. These caches predate most of the ones that one sees now on the map and so it's a nice feeling when i discover an area highlighted with geocaches that have been there many years. This one sadly has seen better days and definitely is in need of some TLC.I actually got really lucky here. Followed the faint geotrail off the track but a tree has come down its limbs akimbo across the gz's path. So I inadvertently made my way too far then burrowed my way left and back around to gz. Standing around wondering the next step i look down and catch a glimpse of a muddied systema corner, just a few inches bare. I dug it out and kinda managed to sign my name in the log. Emptied some water out and replaced exactly where it was just not buried. With the aforementioned tree down, its totally exposed in the shrubbery now and will need checking out by the cache owner or geocommunity member. Thanks alansee for hiding a geocache here some eighteen odd years ago and keeping it alive for us to discover and explore!

Hint is gold!
Cache had an inch of water in it! I emptied it but the cache will need attention!

A nice little walk in here (other than the emu poo I stepped in) and once at GZ I soon found the cache. The log book is rather wet though. I dried it out a little and added my name.

That was tricky with the GPS but with a helpful hint we found it in a couple of minutes. Lots of mozzies!
Did see one huge snake on the way but thankfully it was off the path.

Absolutely worth a favourite point! What I can imagine could be a leisurely walk, turned out to be a little adventure. The recent rainfall has changed a lot here and proved to be an excellent opportunity to test how waterproof my waterproof shoes are! My challenge to become comfortable in the uncomfortable was also challenged, because reading a previous log about leeches freaked me out, and there was the cache to be found, paths to be crossed that were now flowing leech habitats… but I did it. My GPS didn’t help much though and I was glad I tried a little harder as there was the large cache! It was full of water but logbook ok.
One more challenge was to try to minimise the time in the sudden downpour…. Thanks for a great little adventure.

Luckily for me the rain let off so I could open it without making things wet. TFTC!
Glad I didn’t do this one in summer. I can handle leeches better than snakes! Only scored 1 blood sucker today.

Found on a run. Left a trackable behind. TFTC. Bright is my home town and happy to be back.
After spending the night in Porepunkah and geowife and I set our sites on caching around Bright for the day.
After trying to navigate back down from clear view lookout we finally got here.
We really enjoyed our walk though this very lush gully. Creek was flowing nicely
Awesome spot FP awarded.

now this was a lovely little surprise
the afternoon was spent treading the well-worn thoroughfares of bright
brainstorming a new business venture that comes up with bright-themed puns for Bright-located shops
paint shop: Bright Colours
optometrist: Bright Eyes
bookshop: Bright Read
health food shop: Bright Lite
life coach: Bright Future
shop that comes up with all these shop names: Bright Ideas
but as all flocked to the well-named shops of bright, the footpaths clogged with foot traffic
even the canyon walk was bumper to bumper with prams and scooters
so
it was great to escape here
see no one else
find plenty of ducks and ferns and rocks
and some treasure too

Spent the day in Bright - kids were keen for the splash park but we needed some exercise beforehand. So a quick walk around the reservoirs and so I got the cache as well.
Misread the hint so ended up a lot further into the bush but once I read an old log I found GZ soon enough and the log was signed. Walkers approaching meant I had to be quick hiding again.
TFTC Alansee - a nice old one

Yesterday, Rex and I had headed to Wandiligong to catch up with a former work colleague[^]
We spent the afternoon yesterday with Carolin and her family, then slept at the Snowy Creek Picnic Ground[^][|)] close to a cache that I had found in April 2015
Today we found 19 caches as we played tourist[^][^] and slowly made our way back to the van[^] since I had to be in Shepp in the morning for a Dr's appointment
We also completed an adventure lab in Myrtleford[^] and found a heap of cool caches too[^]
Had a lovely walk in here on a day just right for walking i.e. cool
Did a circle or two before finding GZ but it wasn't long before CIH and a smile on my face
Always nice to find an Alansee cache

Did a bit of bush bashing to get to this cache. Maybe we should have parked at the waypoint car park and walked along the track. Found it in the end. Great spot and a great hide. Found this on a weekend away last weekend in Bright, Beautiful location in the spring. SL. TFTC. Left a few more swaps for the kids. Cheers.
Bosses birthday, so we had lunch at the Rail Trail Cafe in Porepunkah. Needed a good walk, so decided Bakers Gully might help. After a good hunt, a bit of bush bashing, and a bit of trail blazing, we found a likely track which took us to within a stones throw of GZ. Unfortunately, GZ we had was a live tree, not what the hint said. A bit of looking around, we said that ??? looks likely, looked inside and BINGO, there it was. Thanks Alansee...

It's the big day! The Lone Random and Southern Phoenix are getting married in Wandiligong tonight, and I'm sure we can fit a few caches into the busy nuptial schedule! H and I spent the first half of the day exploring Bright and surrounds, finding some cool caches. We spent the other half of the day (and into the night) celebrating with the happy couple. A lovely walk! We were looking for deer along this track as we had heard there were some on the nearby road the night before. Thanks for the cache Alansee.

The compass kept white-anting us, giving us rotten dorections to the cache. The seclusion of the cache and its size were much appreciated. Tftc
We enjoyed this great walking track area and ventured further to the bridge crossing .

We all loved the walk into this lovely spot. Didn't meet the resident platypus but glimpsed a lyrebird on the road near here.

A quick visit to Bright and decided to go for this one on an early morning walk in the freezing cold. Nice walk in and found the good size cache no worries. Then ended up down a wrong turn when I decided to take the loop walk back. Had to backtrack and scale down an embankment and cut my leg in the process. Made it back though in time for my meeting. Thanks for the cache.
A nice little wander off the path to find this GZ. I love the places that Geocaching takes us. Geokids found this big one easily. TFTC
Snuck in passed the orange barrier to grab this one very big cache, the geokid loved it tftc
Spent considerable finding this one, it was quite large too. Track maintenance didn't help.

A brilliant morning for exploring, the sights, sounds and of course some caches around Bright in the very good company of fellow Geelong cachers the Suscoe duo. What an interesting walk in the bush - eventually found the right track. This cache is certainly a stayer 10+ years!
Our thanks to Alansee for placing this cache.

Suscoe was out enjoying a delightful day in the very good company of Phetlern.
It was a delightful day to be caching with glorious sunshine, almost no breeze and a top temperature of around 28 degrees.
We saw green pastures, very healthy cattle, impressive mountains and beaut towns that appear along the Great Alpine Road and surrounds.
The diversity of caches was nice to see and we had a few challenging hides to sort out.
It was, all in all, a really good day for us to enjoy with our friends.
Thanks to Alansee for this delightful hide in a beaut part of the bushland.
We enjoyed the wander along the tracks.
No creatures seen here today as we walked.

Hubby did the Ants in your Pants panic dance before putting this back in place. Then covered me in mud when jumping off the fallen tree :/ tftc
Up hill and down dale to find this one at dusk. Scrambled across a few logs and blackberries for this find. Trackable removed. Great spot.
With only the cache's coordinates loaded, I came on a track to the east of the cache, and did a cross-country blackberry avoiding 'dash'. Found a couple of pieces of timber to throw down and use as 'stepping stones' over the prickles. Long pants did help. After that I found a track that headed north to the cache. Found @ 0940 (I think), GAFF1; dry and intact, with good coordinates.

TFTC. Stopped at the car parking co-ordinates on the way down from All Things Bright. We are in Bright for the Annual Audax Alpine Classic Cycle event. In the week leading up to the weekend we socialise, cycle a little and now cache. It had been trying to shower most of the morning. By mid afternoon the sun was trying to come out. We took to the path and before we knew it the cache was in hand and log signed. Not many blackberries about. Continued on the loop back to the car. A lovely sort and the showers held off.
Found during a one-week roadtrip, caching around Mt Buffalo and surrounds (very wide surrounds ).
What a great sunny morning to be out and about caching.
I enjoyed the short bushwalk to GZ, mostly along tracks with just a little bushbashing. The blackberries took their toll, but the large cache was a worthwhile reward.
Thanks, Alansee.

Well I had intended on doing some higher terrain caches today, but a fault with the trusty old ute meant that I was unable to lock the old girl and so I was unable to leave it anywhere with my valuable possessions whilst hiking. So instead I dropped the old girl off at the auto-electricians in Bight whilst I meandered around the town.
By this time I had met up with my mate ahomburg, who had a working car and was happy to drive around Bright collecting some caches whilst my car was being repaired. We picked this one as it was an older one, placed by a friend. We noticed the "parking co-ordinates" but decided to ignore that piece of advice as we were sure that a good old fashioned bush-bash would reap us the required reward.
So we drove further along the road and got out at a selected point. We crashed our way through the bush (me wearing shorts mind you), to find a field of blackberries and holly. Some more careful trampling followed by some "OUCH"s and we were no closer. A quick read of the hint had us here there and then over there and then from the distance as I was pulling a particularly persistent blackberry vine from my calf muscle ahomburg yelled out "GOT IT!"
I made my way over to his location. Disappointed to look at my GPSr to see that it was 17 meters away from where my calculated GZ was. But then my GPSr read these numbers (in order).....17, 12, 9, 5, 2, 0, 0, 0, 0......
I hate it when that happens.....
Cache was found in good order, thanks Alansee.....

After Day alerted me to an issue with his car, I suggested a catch up for lunch in Bright, I arrived from Falls Creek a lot faster than anticipated, so I found him and we headed out and around town for some caching before lunch and before his car was ready. This was the next on the list. Once we got to the Junction, Day went one way and I went the other, eventually after making our way through a massive thicket of blackberries and into a small clearing at GZ where the cache was quickly located.

Long weekend brings us to Bright... This weekend is going to be really REALLY pour weather (did you see what I did there??), so we had alot of opportunities to get out driving in the 4WD in the hills around..
Friends of ours were jumping off the nearby mountain, attached to some kite looking thing.. Then dropping teddy bears trying to hit a man on the head below.. Its some sort of sport apparently!
This gave us plenty of time to grab this cache.. We first tried to access it from the top side of the hill... Umm, that's really not a good idea.. Then we moved along to the southern side and Hubby jumped out and made a dash through the bush while the thunder cracked above us! This was our last cache for the day as it was quite dark as we were heading out :)
Thanks Alansee :)

Last day in Bright for a while and a great day to get out on the bikes. We went to Wandiligong first, but when we arrived back in town I remembered we had an empty day on our cache calendar and should find a cache. Now there are only three in the immediate area we hadn't done, so this seemed like a good choice. Bit of a climb on the bikes up the hill, but well worth the effort. We did both loops, and it's a nice easy walk in a very attractive area. Found the cache without too much trouble, then returned to the bikes to head back down to town. Geoson proclaimed the descent 'the best ten minutes of his life on a bike'. TFTC.
