Big shout out to barefootjeff for volunteering to keep the 2Dogs caches active for all of us to enjoy. Cache size changed to medium.

I went for a drive out to Buckety today for this cache and the wall one nearby. The hiding place had completely filled with mud in one of the recent deluges and I had to dig the cache out, but the container is undamaged and its contents are nice and dry.
Many thanks 2 Dogs for the hide and to Geocaching NSW for taking it on.

Cutting a lap through the valleys today to pick up a few new LGA’s.
An impressive tree! I can imagine it in full glory and wonder what it looked like when the convicts were road building!
This was our target cache for the day too.
What a year Sandyofthesea and I have had. We kitted out the Prado and took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April 2022 to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. We started with the Nullabour, Eyre and York Peninsulas, the Riverlands, visited family in Victoria and then back in SA it got cold. Flinders and the Oodnadatta Track was amazing and we finally warmed up in Dalhousie Springs. The Alice beckoned and then a change of plan and we ended up tackling the Tanami Track to the Kimberley and Bungles Bungles. Territory Day in Darwin was unhinged - please try and do it! The Gulf, the coast and the car breaker ‘Old Tele Track’ to the top of Cape York. This is a must but it’s not easy! Eventually made it to Brisbane to get some fixes to the car….. let’s see where we end up.
The 2 Dogs, I found Big Silver today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Taking the slow route back from Maitland to Castle Hill via Wollombi and St Albans.
Mrs Dozzie kept her eyes closed as I drove down the 4WD track. I was quite comfortable, my Jeep has seen worse.
Cache was found in good condition. TFTC 2 Dogs! Have a FP!

What a big tree, would have been breathtaking in it's younger years. Nice easy park and grab. TFTF
Walking a section of the old Great North Road today. Found the cache easily, nice and dry and in good condition.
Found this cache during a bike ride to Circuit Flat Bridge with the scouts. Thought it might be a bit tricky to slip away, but luckily it was a quick find in an awesome place.
What a great monument, definently could be world changing to any apes in the area!

The Geowife is up on the Central Coast with friends and if I come up today I can stay the night and we can head home tomorrow.
And if I head up early I can cache to my hearts content and arrive in time for dinner. Sounds like a plan!
Beat the traffic heading north for the long weekend (bonus) and decided to target my 360 from home stats - I’m short in a few degrees neat dead north.
So with a list loaded into my iPhone I hit the backroads to Singleton.
Got 11 on a long drive, without any DNFs.
And arrived at my friends dead on 6pm.
Good day!

Today we cruised down the Convict Trail all the way to Wisemans Ferry, mainly to show my Dad some of the old constructions during his visit. Two ferry crossings later and we were in Berowra and heading home after a great day of 12 finds and just one DNF.
We baulked at this once before, the kids weren't keen on the walk. Today we were prepared, but on arrival at the track, found it OK to drive, and took the Forester all the way to GZ, a 2WD with a little clearance would have too. A hatchback might end up high-centred on a hump!
We found the same problem at GZ - the container has been nicked, we replaced the damp pile of swag/logbook with a fresh painted sistema/logbook/pencil, its not an ammo tin, but its all we had with us.
CO might want to do an OM to clear the NM tag..... thanks for placing this one....

We weren't quite sure what to expect here - what a nice surprise! and a good walk in. Tftc!
When I read the description of this cache, it made me think of a story by William Murray on the cover of the Mike Oldfield album "Amarok". Only, in this case the story is about a Golden one. The story is in a note for this cache.
We didn't know what to expect, but along the road we found a golden beetle which spoke of great things to come. A short walk later and we beheld the majestic Big Silver, silently staring down at us and filling us with awe.
I approached with care and reverence, keeping my head bowed low, looking for the place to leave an offering and record my unworthy name. There was no trouble finding the altar, yet my request to add my name to a list of other mortals was denied -- the list is no longer there and future mortals will be denied the same privilege unless they bring with them an offering of a papyrus scroll for recording the names of men.
Using light-recording technology we tried to make a record of our encounter with Big Silver.

A long time ago, in a place which may have been Ireland (but could just as easily have been Africa or Madagascar) there occurred a very unusual series of events.
Two men - good friends - heard of a great golden statue found standing in a great hole in the Earth, quite close to their village. Now, these were simple people and rumours spread like contagion. Some said it was not a statue, but not a man either. One thing was certain: it never moved. But it was also said that it produced a noise, a sound, or several sounds from time to time. Now and then, people had said, it made all of its noises at the same time. The men made a plan to visit it. They left early one morning.
They progressed slowly.
"Do you feel exhausted as I do?" said the first man.
"I've felt better," said the other "but we much achieve our aim."
After many hours the first man stopped in his tracks, staring into the distance.
"I see it," he said quietly.
"What do you see?"
"A gleaming of beautiful gold, a great haze of light..."
Despite their tiredness, they began to walk faster. But however briskly they walked, the distance between them and what the tales referred to as "the gleaming golden light" remained the same. After a while they stopped. They were very frustrated.
The quieter of the two men said, "We'll never get there."
"If we walk back, we will get there," said his friend.
The other surveyed him.
"Why do you think so?"
Without replying the first man rose, turned around and began walking back the way they had come.
To the amazement of the other, after a while the light became visible to him too and as they walked it drew closer. Soon the countryside around them began to look as if there had been a great fire. Blackened trees lay cracked on the ground and the Earth was scorched and barren. They felt uneasy. But they carried on.
Sure enough, they came to a massive charred hole. It was as if a great rock had been hurled from the heavens.
"What a mess," said the first man, "let's go and look."
"You go," said his more cautious companion, "tell me what you see."
His friend crawled to the edge of the great hole. Hanging onto a blasted but well rooted tree, he peered over. In the great pit gouged from the Earth was the tallest figure he had ever seen. It was of a beautiful golden finish, entirely smooth. It was not a statue, but it was not a man. He had never seen anything like it, and he couldn't look away.
"We have come so far," he said to himself. "I hear it has voices to speak of things we cannot speak of." He looked around and there was his friend next to him and he was staring into the crater.
He said "I am told that when a man hears its voice, it stays in their ears, they cannot be rid of it. It has many different voices: some happy but others sad. It roars like a baboon, murmurs like a child, rustles like water in a glass, sings like a lover and laments like a priest."
"I have heard it only says one word," said the other.
His friend looked at him, "I was told it depends on how you listen."
"What can you mean?"
"Imagine a creature with a melody for a voice. You either hear it or you don't."
"I do not understand," said his friend.
"He describes himself but he cannot see it; when he sees it, he cannot describe it. But there is always the sound, he will always make the sound."
They fell quiet. a long time passed. The second man turned to the first man.
"Doesn't look like we're going to hear it, does it?"
"I have heard it."
His friend looked at him sharply. "But there was no sound. None. What are you talking about?"
"Cheer up cloth ears," he said, "it's only a fairytale, innit?"

The ammo box is there. However, there is no longer a log book or log sheet in the cache. Could the next cacher please take one along. Unfortunately, I didn't have anything suitable with me when I made the find.
Well this seems to be the place to burn a car. We parked with the wrecks and proceeded on foot.
A jaunty walk down the trail and as we arrived at the gz the reason for the cache name was revealed.
Signed and replaced, no sign of the trackable.

Tftc, another geo roadtrip with Azzepious today, heading up north again to pick out a few caches we hadn't found.
Drove the geomobile partly down the track and parked it alongside some burnt out compatriots before heading the rest of the way on foot. Found an object matching the cache title and made a quick find.

Following some of the old north road from Wollombi and this was our last cache of the day. Drove right up to 'Big Silver' where the cache was quickly located. Nice and dry inside, ammo cans are always great. Picked up the 2 TBs. We then continued driving on down the road right up to Circuit Flat Bridge which was well worth the look. TFTC
Out for a walk with my son. The very hot weather meant we abandoned our original plan to visit an aboriginal art cave nearby. A nice ammo can was good compensation.
Thanks The 2 Dogs. The cache is in good shape. Found at 11:58 am.

All screws in my head were moved after driving in that road. When the time to turn left to the trail, I stopped, looked and thought: "Cool!!" and there I went. After some minutes I decided to look at the GPS.. Guess what... WRONG TRAIL! Not much room to turn, but managed at the end. When getting to the actual trail, was piece of cake in comparison! About 138m to reach the GZ, there was a sign "No vehicles beyond this point". Must be a reason for that, so I stepped down and complete the easy walking. And even easier was the finding! I performed a cleaning inside the box (dust, sand, etc..), signed & swop 2 TBs. Didn't see 'Faith's Edelweiss Geocoin'. Returned the cache, and back to the road, hoping my screws to come back in place!
Thanks the 2 Dogs, I may come back during the sunset:)

I can finally put this one to rest, we were looking for a spot to camp for the night, Mogo Creek campsite was overcrowded and did not interest us at all, so we were following random tracks to find somewhere to throw the swags down. As we turned onto this one, I noticed a trad cache symbol appeared on the screen. bargain, easy find, nice to see an ammo box. We eventually found a spot, a long ways off the road.
Adventure Saturday with the family today and on a somewhat spur of the moment decision we ended up doing a post-lunch 4WD adventure from Newcastle to Yengo and return. Suffice to say it was dark when we got home - ran out of winter daylight! But no regrets - what a cracking day and a glorious sit to explore.
This cache was one I once attempted to get close to in my work Camry after solid rain, but the road was washed out and I had to turn around. Not so today, drove the Garbagetruck to within 15 feet. A quick find with the kids. Dropped 2 TBs. TFTC

Out with Trodectus for a walk as camping nearby. Arrived GZ and quick find. TFTC
Parked on The Great North road junction and walked in along an overgrown track that will slowly be reclaimed by the bush. To our surprise we joined a well worn road near Big Silver. Geohubby turned his phone on to glimpse the arrow pointing to our objective before the phone 'died'. A quick hunt around the base quickly recovered the cache. Grabbed some tracks led as they've rested here long enough by date of last entry in log.
Walked past this with the kids on a circuit walk from the Mogo Campsite (about double the length NPWS gives by the way...) but with no mobile coverage or preparation I didn't know it is was there.
So I drove back at night when the kids were going to sleep - it is quite easy to find at night.
I'm happy to say that I have finally dropped off the trackables I've been feeling guilty about for ages... Sorry owners!

Drove my Camry in as far as the Mogo Creek road, and then realised I might not get Camry all the way to GZ. Decided that with 2 kids under 3, light rain, and zero phone reception walking 1.2km off the main dirt access might be a bit silly. I'll come back with a more suitable vehicle another day! Nice country in here though. Enjoyed poking around.
We were camping the night nearby but first decided to grab a couple of caches, this being one of them. We were surprised to find it in the open but then noticed it had been found earlier in the day by someone metal detecting. He signed it 'P.Collins' and left 20c as a gift. Maybe there was something in the air tonight, or it was just another day in paradise

We had been doing some of the nearby All7 puzzle caches and was keen to see some of the construction of the Old Northern Rd and when we spotted a 2 Dogs cache we of course detoured over. The 2WD was a little low to go down the turn off track (old gang camp) so a 10min walk soon had us at the cache. No mistaking GZ and the cache was an easy find. In testing to see the cache had been found by the RFS on a recent patrol of the area as they left a log. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.

Found it while taking our new 4wd out for a spin. When we arrived at the trail end there was yellow "keep out" tape across the track, so under we ducked and headed towards Big Silver. After walking 500 odd metres along the track there was no mistaking the landmark we were looking for, a nice easy find. Thanks 2 dogs.
Almost totally dark now, I crept along this dirt track in my low rider, scraping over the mounds along the way. About 100m from GZ a sign days no more vehicles, so I ran the rest, brrr gonna be cold tonight.

After Having a friend bail on me for other activities, a free day was on the cards, so what else to do but go CACHING!!!!! A call was made to Team Senz to see if they were up for a combined attack on a few caches that's were in the area.
After GEOLUXing our way thru the darkness we made it to GZ, a quick search had the log signed and we continued on our way.

After a lovely walk into the bush we easily found the cache which was already being 'eaten alive' by termites. We also found a lovely German 'traveller' called 'Hermie' who we will send on his way shortly. TFTC, The 2 Dogs.

Found this after a nice mornings walk down the Old Great North Road. Went to Simpsons Crossing and then took the track out to look at Mangrove Mountain dam (the end of which is very overgrown and not worth the cuts and scratches) and then came back and went up Mount Lockyer - nice views. Then walked back and found the cache just before the car. 18.5 km of walking and then lunch at Laguna. Excellent.

Didn't think my car would handle any of the track, so we parked next to the main road & walked about 600m to GZ.
Easy walk out, and once we got to the end, made an easy find right next to what we'd suspected would be the big silver.
Thanksw

This was our second 2 Dogs cache of the day. We left the paddock basher at the turnoff and wandered down, all the while speculating what the title might refer to. In the end, we found that we had guessed right, and we made an easy find. We saw that a muggle had written in the book, somewhere, curious about what he had found. At least he put it back properly. Thanks
What a beautiful landmark. Clearly has been here a while. We were able to park very close. TFTC
Our regular vehicle would have been quite able to drive all the way to GZ, due to lack of any appreciable recent rain in the area. However we chose to walk the 400 or so metres, taking in the wonderful scenery and taking time to "smell the roses".
What a magnificent structure this would have been in it's heyday.
Took Nothing Left Nothing, TFTC.

Drove out to this one had to cut a couple of trees out of the way but got here and soon found the cache just about covered by the whiteants and their nest all was well inside the cache Thanks the 2 dogs for the hide
Now that's what I'm talking about. Big cache! Left camel took dinosaur. Tftcsl. Got the fimblestrada right to the hide too!
We missed the correct turn and headed off towards Wiseman's Ferry before seeing our mistake. After parking we followed an excellent road which the 2WD could have easily handled, but we wanted a walk, hoping to see wildlife. The cache was quite obvious at Big Silver, but we avoided standing under it to log as it looks quite dangerous now. Thanks for a memorable cache.
Drove right up to the cache as the track was in good condition. TNLN TFTC

Quick detour off the road and a quick find, having a great day in this area. TFTC.
We were in the area yesterday and drove part-way down this track, on a non-geocaching mission. (We hadn't expected to detour down into this part of the Park, so hadn't printed off the co-ordinates for this or the other cache nearby).
Returned today with the paperwork and were much more determined to travel the whole of the "track". Found cache without incident at 11:15am and did enjoy seeing such a wonderful specimen.
It was the getting back that was tricky! Took a different, seemingly better/drier track and within minutes of the turn-off our 4WD had dropped into a deep ditch when the edge of the track crumbled. Lucky we had the recovery gear!
Was a most interesting adventure!

We attempted this cache & after looking at mapping after woods, yes we were on the right track. Got within 500 metres (half way down the track) the other half in my ear “I’m not digging you out if you get stuck” also we were traveling. Will tackle this 1 at a later date. Yes this is a 4WD track, the other half “yes you had your fun for the day” will return.
Nothing singing today, apart from my cackles of laughter at what we found at GZ. It's only been a few months since the previous visitors signed the log, but all that remained was a corner of the cache container. Oddly, the ant/termite nest built over and around the cache appears abandoned as well, making retrieval a little less perilous. The cache, is now easier to visit, but who knows for how long?
TNLNSL, thanks for the cache The 2 Dogs!
best wishes,

Another cache that has me puzzled as to it's purpose, I am sure there is one, I just didn't get it.
To get right to GZ you may need a 4WD because of the humps, but it is only about a 600m walk if you need to.
Big Silver is impressive, but no more than others in the vicinity. I don't really understand why the cache is here.

A quick 4x4 diversion from our trip to Cessnock. Love the quick and easy finds. Wassa
Found without too much difficulty. 4X4 had no trouble at all on the track. Log only. Thanks for the hide. Is there a bridge nearby built as part of the Old Great North Road?
Nice views!. Previously followed that track for another km or so until it got to a steep downhill. As I was on my own at the time, I turned around. Did not notice Big Silver on that occasion, though!
Amazing how people find places like this. It is a magnificent sight isn't it/
Found while out four wheel driving and camping for the weekend. She was big and she was silver
