This cache has been muggled and as we are shifting from the area we will archive. Someone else may like to set up their own cache in this park.
No butterflies today, but there were a few muggles about. Fortunately those in the playgound were far enough away, and I could keep out of sight of those sitting beside the stream. Would be nice to come here over winter and see the butterflies. TFTC
Down from Wellington visiting family and out caching - as you do - in a new area . This one took longer to get to, driving unfamilier roads, than walking across the park to find and back to the car. Nice little hide. TFTC
Nice easy find. I used to play softball in this park years ago...thanks for bringing me back. TFTC.
Our first cache on our cyclocache tour. No Monarchs to be seen today probably all moved on this time of year.
Not many people in the park despite the sunny day.

Walked around the park just as it started to rain; Baseballers setting up in 1 corner, Cricket in another - all a long way from the cache - what amazing trees.
TFTC.

Cache found. Nine ducklings nearby. Only muggles were in the distance on the playground. TFTC
Came here over a year ago when the cache was still a multi, but never found the final as the garden in which it was located had been well worked over. Came back today and knew exactly where to look for this one as it was the first waypoint of the multi at that time. Signed log, TFTC!
A bleak day keeps Muggles away.Unfortunatly we found the Log Sheet very damp. What a neat little Stream.TFTC.
(88) 5th for the afternoo, and a good park away from muggles.. Pretty quick easy find.. Need to come back in winter to see the butterflys everywhere.. SL, TFTC
This one was so close to Christchurch home and never knew there was a park here before. Thank you. Didn't see any sleeping Monarch's but nice park. Noticed there are tennis courts and playground and lovely big trees. Didn't think you could get to it from the Hoon Hay side so came from the Spreydon side then saw a walkway through the houses from Hoon Hay
Local Council have had a makeover of the gardens and native grasses and cache have disappeared. Will find a new location for the cache as soon as possible.
Found a few likely spots, but thorough investigation could not turn up a film canister.
Could not see the butterflies but found a film canister instead. Easy stroll around the park watching some sort of game (have not found out what they were playing, but they had some fun with a football). TFTC
Two teams of muggles and supporters greeted us at WP1 but they were all interested in the game so managed to recover clue and move on to GZ. Found cache easily and went home to dry out and warm up.TFTC
These old established parks are wonderful. Just me and some ducks to share it, late on a winters afternoon.
Nice and easy multi, thanks.
Nice and easy multi, thanks.
Had a check on Monarchs this afternoon. They are there but not in great numbers. Could only see about 20, all with wings closed.
Easy find on second try. Had a man and his dog following us around so left and went back later. TFTC
Very hard to find at night, but found it on 2nd attempt. Nice spot to place it. Added TB Grandfather. Was unable to find Mystery Machine TB??
This one's two minutes walk from my house
Tried finding it of an evening twice, but the lack of sunlight foiled us. Saw some lightening though the second night. Finally found it lunchtime today.
Couldn't find the Mystery Machine TB though, wanted to take it up to Victoria park to a suitably spooky location.
Log book has an entry on the 15th of Feb 2009 by "Incredible Logans" saying they took it, but they haven't logged it's find or new location

Easy find tonight after reading the clue. To dark to see much so even if any butterflies were there I would not have noticed them.
We found the cache, Our first geocache. Nice and easy to find, once we look at the clue, that is. took out a starwars sticker and put in a hotwheels car,pen and toy soldier.
Thanks. There was a travel bug their, but we left that in place.

We couldn't find the cache - it didn't look like a particularly good location for a cache as there were bottles, used fireworks, flyers, grass clippings and even an old toolbox dumped around the place. We noticed the burnt tussock stumps also and suspect that the cache has been melted/destroyed/muggled.
Refer previous logs. Cache location needs to be checked - it appears the cache may have been destroyed.
Following receipt of Cydds log managed to visit the cache site this afternoon. There has certainly been a fire there. Retrieved the remains of the container and contents which included Geocoin "Searching Under the Southern Cross". Geocoin slightly stained but still in good condition so we will find a new home for it. Will search for another location for WP2. If we can't come up with a suitable spot will probably reenable the cache as a Traditional.
The tree the monarchs used to roost in has been heavily trimmed after winter storms so it will be intersesting to see if they return next winter.

There has been a small fire at the cache coordinates and there was a congealed mass which resembled a cache. Any future cache might need to be elsewhere as the tussocks at the location are damaged and offer little concealment. Sorry.
A nice multi. Unfortunately there has been a small fire that engulfed what I assume was the cache. There was a bit of notebook amoung a congealed lump.
Easy Find. Saw a few Monarchs flying around the trees. Evidence of weather damage on some of the trees.
Also, took Barchen geolutin but when tried to log on its site - got French. I'm almost game to try out my high school langue francaise but have requested translation assistance in case I completely mess it up! Will find a home for it soon. TFTC

Would have liked to have seen the butterflies, but they would have all been blown away today if any were around! Found WP1 quickly, but went a little astray at the final to begin with. Got it in the end though!
We left a 'geolutin' called Barchen here. This is a kind of a alternative travelbug and is the only one to have made it to NZ so far. The website is a little trickier than logging a travelbug, but it would be kind if we could keep its NZ travels recorded for the owner.

We had to avoid being observed by numerous junior muggles at the cache site.

Finally able to grab this one after two previous visits when muggles were too close. Nice easy find today. TFTC.
Had a good look in the trees in the area but no sign of the butterflies . No doubt they had all gone home to sit in front of a nice warm fire rather than hang out in the cold wind.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
A good wee multi cache, that was a Must-do on Butterfly's list. Though disappointment again as she has yet to see the Monarch's wintering over trees with Monarchs resting anywhere. Not today.
However cache found and Dooghn's NZ trek geocoin left.

Only spotted one monarch today. Two games of soccer on but no problem getting WP1. Arrived at the cache site just as the congregation were departing, so we sat on the fence for a while... TFTC
Found Wp1 ok yesterday but workmen muggles at gz so couldn't grab the cache, thought I would return today but they were working Saturday morning too. I will have to wait for my6 next visit to Chch now.
An easy find in a park that I've been to with the kids many times. A nice day with no-one around to look at me funny! TFTC
Sunny day!
Nice Park!
Great to be out caching!
Spotted a few monarch butterflies!
Thanks

#161. Cache 5/5 found with Troodles on Easter Saturday. Walked here from M M H Cache. Lots of softballing muggles near WP1; think I was reasonably discreet retrieving and the replacing WP1. Very quiet at the cache itself; quick find.
We were keen on this one - butterflies are one of our favourites. Sadly it appears that baseball or softball is an event at this spot as well. Teams were accumulating around the actual coordinates. A great spot and we look forward to returning. Cheers
Enjoyable multi that all worked well. Lived very close to here as a kid and have spent a lot of time in this reserve, nice to re-visit.

GPS trouble (user error) had us in the wrong spot on this one but we went back and conquered no problem after sorting out our troubles. TFTC.
Took a couple of goes at this one. First time around we didn't have the sheet and our guesswork was a bit off. Second time around we were sweet as. A nice park to go hunting and the smallest cacher was keen to use the playground. TNLN
This is our first find, picked becasue it is close to home. Very enjoyable, so much so that we decided to find another before we headed home!

Lovely park, but we guess the Monarchs must all be on their summer vacation! We didn't see any, anyway. Micro and cache were both easily found on our cycle ride this afternoon. SL. TFTC.
Also logging in and out our England Geocoin.

Very exciting to find this cache planted by Gympie's Grandparents (Stubby Holder's in laws). Lovely spot to remind The Red Flash of the school trek from primary days. Seemed an appropriate place to drop off Honeymooners Travel Bug to commence it's journey.
Picked up another travel bug from the cache

Coordinates retrived, walked off with them loaded them into gps ready to replace and teens reapear. Hey JK come and help Mum I want to take your photo so I can put it back. Click photo taken, look here is your photo and the container is back.
No hassles with the final done in signed and off to the next adventure.

WP1 will be replaced today with a dry container and a readable set of coordinates for the cache
Nearly forgot, called in here the other week, found WP1 easy enough but the info inside was wet and unable to be clearly read. Was going to have a look where I suspected it was but a group of muggles were too close by Will be back soon
A cold, cold day. Obviously no Butterflys. The council workers looked at me strangely. A good walk. TNLN.Thank you.
Well the Baha'i faithful now think I'm a wacko! [Easy find at the waypoint, though I didn't spot the monarchs. Took a bit longer to locate the cache, yet when found it was an easy spot.

This is a great park , It was too cold to stick around to look for the Monarch,s I will have to come back another day,,cheers and thanks.
We have been monitoring the site for Monarchs this week and can report that on Thursday there were 5 and today at least 34 so they are starting to congeregate for the winter. Come along for an enjoyable walk in the park and some Monarch viewing.
A quick and easy find after taking ages for two earlier caches. It was a very warm Spring like day, but the wrong time of year for monarchs.

Didn't see any sign of monarchs. The cache took me a lot longer than the waypoint! TNLN
First successful cache of the day! And a lovely day for a walk in the park. Cheers Gav [1184]
It turned out to be a nice day for caching after all. Found part 1 with some stealth and some help from the local ducks who were entertaining some muggles. Thanks! TNLN
Found this cache on the way home from lunch... Nice walk in the park with a cricket game in progress. Didn't see any monarchs though.
