Taking the oldest son out for a walk to Pindars Cave and we decided to play some monopoly on the way. After a look around the young one found a likely looking spot, but minus a cache. Upon checking the logs, this was the same spot that team novo found, so at least we are thinking like more experienced cachers!

22-Sep-21
Friday 17th September.

Couldn't find it. Had a good look and moved on to the waterfall.

22-Aug-21
The novos out today on Thommos Loop along the GNW to the Rifle Range Firetrail junction north of Wandabyne in search of some lockdown recreation. It was a very warm and still day - doesn't get much better!

This was our first stop but a good search showed up nothing which was quite disappointing. Pretty muggly spot though - how has this cache lasted here so long?

Anyway so we decided to have lunch here. Amazing spot! This section of the GNW is pretty tough. Most people today (and there were lots) were either doing the full loop back to Woy Woy Road or just doing a return trip to the creek not far from here down the bottom. Out over the other side was pretty quiet.

A quick detour off the track while walking from Wondabyne to Patonga. After admiring the waterfall which was flowing strongly after the recent rain, I set of up the hill and found the cache without much trouble.

Buddies: Brewmaker, The Bebes, Peldroedgwin

Muggles: none

Weather: sunny

Cache condition: good

---

Came 'prepared' as we 'read' the previous logs. As we approached GZ a muggle couple were enjoying the views. After a bit of a chat they realised we were harmless and helped us search for the hide. Unfortunately we were not able to locate the original container.

We have prepared a quick (temporary) replacement with a new logbook. I suggest a cache check is in order for this one.

Such a beautiful location, I was so happy to have finally reached this spot, the plan had been a log time in the making.

As we climbed the hill from the amazing waterfall we spotted 2 muggles, right on GZ, after a quick chat they admitted to having ca he’d in past and helped us search for the box. Unfortunately l, it wasn’t found.....to keep this older cache alive we left a replacement cache.

The view from here is stunning and it’d be a shame not to have a cache here to encourage it’s enjoyment.

In training to do the overland track so I thought I might walk from woy woy to wondabyne for a bit of fun and find some caches along the way. What a great walk, some amazing views and beautiful bushland and some really pretty women out walking today as well. Ha ha. Overall a great day and found some pretty good caches as well. I located gz, but after the uphill climb from the valley I decided to catch my breath and take a good drink of water before starting the search. Funnily enough I spotted the cache before I had properly started searching! I returned the cache a little better hidden than when I found it. Great vantage point of the valley from here Smile thanks for the cache, fifth find of the day.

Found with TOMBI!, and Orsome86 doing some interesting D/T combinations. TOMBI! and I had started a set of caches but when Orrsome86 rang we changed our aim and starting out doing the Great Train Heist, intending to finish at upper Mullen as one car was parked there, for a WPnt. After traveling back and forth to find the Heisted Train, we got off at Wynboine and followed the GNW back to the car (about 9.5 Km as you walk), finding all the Monopoly caches on the way TFTC cphoenix

Found with BillHill531, Orrsome86 and his hostage after a great train heist.
Great area passed getting to this one. We were pretty tired by the top. I took photos of the Monopoly cards, but now I realise I had to record the money as well. (and being ten years late) with most of the caches archived I don't think I will be able to force the final... Great concept anyway!
Thanks for the huge hike, rock hop and cache!

04-Jul-17
Tombi put the call out to see if anyone was interested in finding a train robber and a few other caches. Initially I didn’t think I would be able to assist, however a change in circumstances meant I could make the journey. So a day of adventures ensued with train rides and a big hike and a few difficult caches tackled.
This was the sixth cache we found. We walked along the GNW from Bond Street. After going down for a long time we eventually reached a gully. There was a bit of a flow and small water fall. At the next gully there was more of a flow and a bigger waterfall which we stopped and had a rest at and took some photos. After that we continued onto the cache which got closer and then further away from us as the track wound its way up. Eventually we reached the top and commenced the search. Found pretty quickly. Perfect winter weather for a bushwalking adventure today, we started at Staples Lookout to head to Mt Wondabyne. We took the detour down this way to Kariong Brook falls which were really spectacular after recent rain. A nice spot for a cache here, we enjoyed this find. TFTC

15-Jan-17
We were out today doing upper mullet and saw we would pass this once. So on our return we took the side track to grab this one. Cache was a bit exposed, signed the log and covered cache a bit better. So today doing upper mullet and this one we covered 10klm not a bad effort with a 11 year old and 8 year old in tow.

Out with dlturner geo kids and our brother who we now have hooked on growing. The one was a last minute find as we did upper mullet and realised it was close by. Just a slight detour to get it.

As the day was promising to be very, very hot, my aim today was just the barefootjeff's cache and that's it. Well, on the way I decided to get the 'Pall Mall', which I was planning for another day along with 'Bond Street' and 'Old Kent Road'. I just couldn't resist! What a great track! What a great view of nature! I'll wait for a more fresh weather to keep exploring it.

Found 3:03 pm with AuroraEve. I had already found my daily cache but I was interested in spending some quality time with the geodaughter and when we were out here the other day we noticed the flowers starting to appear so another visit now we had hoped to see even more native flowers. So I'll include a small selection I came across today. We started our walk down the track and had four ladies following us. When we reached the track for the GNW we found a group of people and then learnt the 100mile run competition was on which would explain some runners/wonky walkers we came across along the way. Anyway headed along the track and soon arrived near GZ at which point we did a quick search. I spotted the cache when looking the right direction and soon had the cache log signed for both of us. We still had a couple more runners come past while we were enjoying the view. We then headed back the way we had come and again stopped at the checkpoint to discover that the next runners were likely to be knocked out as the cut off time had been reached. We had quite a nice little walk and the weather was just about perfect.
Thanks for the cache.

Having recently done a couple of the others over at the Wondabyne end of the track, it was high time I ticked this one off my list. To the constant sound of heavy artillery from the nearby rifle range (just what we need in the middle of a national park, huh?), I quickly made the find. It's good so see another of the old ones still going strong.

Many thanks for keeping it going.

Thought we'd explore this part of the Great North Walk today so headed in from Staples lookout. A walk along a very wide fire trail with a bit of bike traffic took us to GZ within about 25 minutes. I made a quick find when I was actually looking for something else. Looks like this cache isn't found all that often although it's quite full. Signed the log and dropped off a micro-GC which I hope gets moved on.

Have found another one in this series right down the other end near Wondabyne. Must do the rest of the walk someday.

Thanks!

Found on the 4 'W's walk. What a fantastic creek! wow! This must be magnificent after some rain. Still there was a nice bit of water coming over the top considering we have had only 40ml since the end of June. Although I have one small question. Why did you not place the cache a little closer to the creek? sure the view is pretty good, but hey, this creek is pretty nice. Any way, a good hide where a photo was necessary. TFTC!!!

What a place to hide a cache, I loved this bush walk, but legs didn't, I got 3 of the caches on this trail to Patonga. I would suggest others bring their bikes and chain/hide them at this cache for an easier return to Staples Lookout. My walk to Old Kent Road and back took 3hrs today with a few side track explorations and relaxation at the beautiful Waterfalls near Pall Mall cache. Plenty of frog-mouthed caves to see, most with very evasive geckos. Bumped into a pro walker with all the hiking gear, also some mountain bikers who were really sorry they tried this trail from Patonga back to the Loop Track, its not bike friendly at all. Overall, thank-you for bringing me here, and that's a few more of the monopoly series done, looking forward to the others that are closer to Patonga, I think ill take the Kayak to those ones!

14-Jul-12
On my way in towards 'W' from Woy Woy Rd, I had dumped my bike down hill from this cache when I came to the conclusion there was going to be no more riding.

I had to really exert myself running hard the whole way battling impending dusk. By the time I got back here I was shattered, and really didn't feel like carrying my bike back up. But anyway, I still had to find this last cache, so I went up and down the boulders looking under a lot of ledges. When I was about to give up, I spotted some out of place colour, and a very relieved Chudles signed his final log of the trip Smile

Found as part of 1000th cache bush walk today starting with the "W" after getting off the train at Wondabyne and walking out to Pall Mall return which was 9.5km in just under 3 hours (if you dont make 3 hours its then 4 hours as the train only stops every hours). We made it back in just under an hour from Pall Mall and at one stage thought we would miss the train as coming down the last section of track to the station we could hear the squel of the train wheels on the tracks. We began running as best we could but it turned out to be the north bound train which is 6 min ahead of the south bound train so when we realised this we pushed on, crossed the tracks, up on to the platform with a few minutes to spare.

We are glad we continued on from the other stations although the track was wet in places (also a little steep) as we got to see the great water fall. Had a nice break hear and then did the climb up to the cache. Once near GZ we headed off the track and soon found the cache. With our run of caches complete it was time to head back to Wonderful Wondabyne Station. We thought we saw a small snake on the way back but was probalbly a little carpet python by its markings. "Palls Mall" is a perfect cache for a family adventure or even just an afternoon bush walk
My GeoDad and I were drawn to this cache on one of our many early morning MTB rides. We decided to continue on the Great North Walk Track to get us home, after finding the cache. After giving our upper body a good workout caring our bikes down the mountain we were soon to discover that our journey had just begun. After a quick evaluation of track conditions ahead up the other side of the valley my GeoDad and I decided that we had to turn around. So the exhausting hike with our bikes on our backs lead us to see the magnificent views twice.
Awesome spot TFTC SL
