A great find for my 200th as it was my second attempt for this cache. We passed through Cann River around 10 years ago and after a solid look we did not find. This time I wasn't leaving until it was found and luckily it was!
A very thorough search, pitty it was on the wrong cannon! A quick find once we sorted our lefts out! We're heading to King Island, via Mallacoota and lakes entrance towards Melbourne. An atlas mapping challenge directing our way towards our waiting plane. Flinders Island, some mainland Tassie, before our target, King Island... our last cachable LGA in Australia!Having been caching for years on our LGAs, sacada and myself teamed up six months ago to tackle the hard ones, then as it happened, all of those that remained. We now are making our way to the last, Flinders for sacada, then King for us both. It has been quite a journey!
Off to Tasmania to get Flinders Island LGA and finally the last LGA for AU at King Island. TFTC.A detour trip towards Melbourne to collect all the Victoria Atlas pages for a challenge.Today was Canberra to Bombala to Cann River and then camping on the beach at Mallacoota. After looking on the wrong cannon for ages we reassessed what "left" was referring to. A quick find after that.
We are on a caravanning trip around Australia seeing the sights and finding a few caches along the way. We called into Cann river to get some bread and find this cache as 2 years ago when we came through here. We could not locate it. This time after a bit of searching we located itThanks for placing and maintaining this cache
Thanks took 6 of us 15 mins. Finally Kimmy had cache in hand. Great cache from The Roos
We are not big fans of gun hides but given this was the first opportunity since leaving Eden it was worth a try. 10 minutes of systematic searching and finally the prize was found. TFTC yet again djcache Brad and Janet are on another epic trip. This time across South Australia to Broken Hill. Then through central and Northern NSW and up into Qld where we will be picking up a new hybrid house-on-wheels. Then we will head south down through more of NSW via Sydney to catch up with B2. Then further south until we get into Victoria from where we will head back into South Australia. Along the way we will grab caches of opportunity.
TFTFlast time we tried was about 5 yrs ago with no luck. This time stocked to have found it.
Were heading to Lake Entrance for couple of nights. We made a quick stop to pick this one up , our lucky day to find it as quick as we did.TFTC
Didn't have enough time for a proper look (and didn't find it in my short look) next time!
After a couple of goes finally nailed it. Size was a surprise how didI miss it?. Tftc
Dropped by to check on it. Rainy afternoon so easy searching in what can be a very busy spot. Cache creep is real. DJ
#19759 - 4:58:00 PM; Day thirteen of a road trip with the geohoney, taking the long way inland to Adelaide from the National Capital and back again via the coast. Made it to Melbourne last night and got a great deal on a hotel near the MCG. Grabbed a nearby cache before heading east along the Princes Highway. Arrived in Cann River and stopped off to make use of the facilities nearby. Having been unsuccessful on two previous attempts there, checked the iPhone to see whether the cache was still acftive. Saw that it was and decided I would spend no more than 5 minutes on the hunt. The gods must be smiling as it took less than a minute to locate this tricky cache at last! Nice to finally have the frown turned upside down here! TFTC McPhan and djcache
Found 15:04 27/4/2024 after stopping for an afternoon coffee nearby. Thank you djcache for the cache and bringing me to this location.
Cache # 11242 on 25 Apr 2024Decided to take advantage of the ANZAC day holiday and make a long weekend of it - added a road trip with Bobl27 to the mix and all is set for a fun few days. We are travelling from home in the ACT to Victoria via Cooma and then doing a relaxed loop to Melbourne picking up a few caches and counties along the way. And then straight up the Hume home! No tricky DTs or long walks this trip. This cache: fist find for the day and my first in this county! A tricky find, but a careful check of likely spots reveled the cache! Thank you djcache for the cache and the fun!
Pays to read instructions as well as well as going where no-one should go. Very pleased to find this is we are no fans of guns.
I dont think I expected this to be such a long day, but alas it was time for us to cover some distance. We woke up in Eden and went to sleep in Warragul, covering over 500 kilometers and visiting 19 stashes. We also fulfilled our dream of seeing some wild koalas, and had a blast while seeing another part of the country! After leaving Eden, we continued along the windy Princess highway towards Raymond Island to see those koala bears. We stopped at this oldie stash and once we stopped rolling around in observing the gun, we quickly found the container. The logbook is in good condition; we got our nick in at 10:19 am, making this our 7155th overall find. Thank you McPhan for placing your Can River? stash and thank you djcache for maintaining it; we were glad to visit it and spice up our Tuesday while down under in ????Australia for our spring break, visiting from slightly-distant ????Myanmar! We snapped a photo and returned the stash as we found it, and appreciate the opportunity for a find and visiting another new location. After that, we walked across to the other side of the road in the bakery for a snack after the long drive. For my own personal statistics; this is the seventy-sixth of 112 geocaches we visited down under while on spring break, excluding the 56 adventure lab caches we visited and 28 Waymarks visited.
Heading towards Barnsdale we picked up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
Well I'm a happy traveller, I have passed this cache many times and attempted the find many times but have been muggled out the same amount of times.Today was my day, found, signed and replaced.Nice paint job on the field gun too. Thanks
Lovely spot that we camped nearby for the nightCaching around on the road trip that encompasses Barrington Tops, Sydney, the Easter Geobash Mega in Canberra then the return via who knows where to homeThanks djcache for contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy.
Found by Harvey Spectre & the running girls. And Wenzo. 4/5/2024This was a revisit ~ we initially found in 2017
Yes we can! Looked for a while before reading the hint which led us straight to the cache. Thanks for the hide McPhan/djcache. On our way home from the Canberra Mega via Pambula, Lakes Entrance and after that who knows
Can't river today. coming back from the cannebra mega through Merimbula. Didn't find this one, have to come back another time. TFTC
Tried to find this with AutumnBees and geograndkids but couldnt find it so will try again next trip
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. Gkl
Easy find thanks to the hint. We have done these sort before and can spend a long time finding the cache.... especially in a relatively high muggle area. TFTC TNLS
On a getaway 500km from home with the Oshfam clan staying at a caravan park in Mallacoota. It was time to say goodbye and make the drive back home today. We stopped for coffee here and wandered over to find the cache. Being interested in all things military, we found the cache enjoyable but it took us a little bit to find as it was nicely tucked away. I let hubby do all the touchy feeling stuff as I am not fond of the creatures that may lurk in the crevices.Thank you for the cache here djcache ??
Was easier than it seems for a level 4. Just lots of places to hide the cache. Unfortunately didn't have a pen to sign the log.
After driving to cann river from Canberra went to find this cache until I realised it was a cache located on a old field gun, and at these caches I usually gain more grey hairs. I methodically started from one end of the gun, this time slower than usual, bending in all shapes, searching in all the dark places. The cache was finally spotted, retrieved and signed, this time retaining most of my hair colour. Cann river is such a nice town, even meet the local SES volunteers manning the rest area. TftcTftc
Spent about 10 mins searching for this one but had to stop and get back on the road before I was able to locate it. Definitely going to stop by and search if Im ever driving by again.
Thanks for the cache. Took us close to 10 minutes to find, but with the help of some fellow geo caches that noticed us searching we were able to find it!
Back on the mainland, after nearly 3 months in Tassie. So nice to have avoided all the excessively hot weather.Slowly heading to the east coast and stopped off and made this find while passing. Found after a short search. Thanks djcache for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
TFTC and it didnt take me as long as I thought it would. It took me longer to figure out how to open the cache. I usually hate cannon caches but wanted to find this one as Im visiting from the Hunter Valley near Newcastle NSW. What a lovely little town.
EnglishWe are six Norwegians on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. We arrived in Melbourne at the beginning of February and are traveling home after the mega event in Adelaide. We travel by car and Geocaching helps us discover many nice places and often helps to decide where we choose the route between our goals which are: Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Dunedeen, and Adelaide. This is one of the caches we found on the trip and we thank you for showing us this place. We who are on tour have the nicknames: MrVonsr, ingsve, EllenSch and TeamEika. Out on a geocache trip with Ellen Sch , Team Eika and ingsve on holiday in Australia, and today it was this area that was prioritized If nothing else is mentioned, we found the cache at good coordinates and it was fine To save space in the log, we often log in with the nickname N4 Many thanks to CO for laying out and maintaining this Greetings from Norway TFTCUte p en geocache-tur med Ellen Sch,Team Eika og ingsve p ferien i Australia og idag var det dette omrdet som ble prioritert Hvis ikke annet er nevnt s fant vi cachen p gode koordinater og den hadde det braFor spare plass i loggen logger vi ofte med nick N4Tusen takk til Til CO for utlegg og vedlikehold av denne Hilsen fra Norge TFTC
Cachehilsen fra Ellen Sch, NorgeMe and MrV sr have come down to Australia and New Zealand, -an old dream has finally come to an end. Team Eika and Ingsve have also traveled with us on this trip.We have been traveling cross-country for a month, and the goal is to end up in Adeleide and mega-event on the leap year. We have especially looked for old caches, to fill jasmer'n, for a couple of pieces, and for the other two of us who have started to think about reviewing more. The vast majority of them showed up at their places, sometimes we had to search a bit, but we were usually lucky in the end. There were also some DNFs.We have mostly logged in with the common nickname N4 (ingsve, Von sr. TeamEika and Ellen Sch), but our own nicknames are also used.A big thank you to all you CO's for laying out and maintaining your caches. Without their work, we would never have been able to make a living with this hobby.Always nice to have a new smiley face on the map.Cache greetings from Ellen Sch, Norway
As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. Thanks to our cache friends for good company on the trip.
Bigger than expected - but still took a lot of looking!! As previous have said - high muggle area due to toilet block so close. Thanks for taking over the cache
So my sister has chosen to move back to Melbourne, and we are helping her to move back. So sat down and mapped out the fast route down and a slower route back, looking at where we might stop to collect a cache or two, and maybe fill some spots on the LGA map.In sitting talking to my dad (Cliff5009) about this, we came to realise that I do not have any LGAs in the Gippsland area. Well, given I was born at Orbost, and half the family still live from Warragul to Orbost, that seemed quite unlikely. So we sat down and figured out that since I started Geocaching in 014, I have not been back in that area.Well, we agreed that fixing that anomaly would make a lot of sense.LGA hunt number 2 for the day.In the run from Orbost towards home - trying to visit 3 states in a day (Vic, NSW and ACT).Log now has my name in it and finally starting to fill some spots. Thanks for placing the cache!
After leaving relatives at Orbost, came out this way to get onto Monaro Highway, travelling to Brisbane, via Canberra and Dubbo, spent a while waiting for muggle kids climbing all over gun , then made a quick find, took cache to seat nearby, signed log, replaced between other muggle visits, Thanks djcache, all is in good condition here Adding favourite point for size of container
A stop point for a break in the drive Orbost to Canberra. After a coffee and muffin strolled up the road to survey this location. First muggle left and I moved in to make a find. Retrieved and went to a near by bench seat to sign the log. Then had to wait out another muggle surveying the location before returning as found. tftc
Found with goblinrider on the way back to Orbost from Mallacoota.Easy find when you have found a number of these guns TftcPete
My little brother informed alot about cannons when I asked about the hint . Cannons are cool. Tftc. Found with Juggling Ogre and the brother
Stopped on our way to our camping. At first we were put off by the object to search, not really our favourite, but with the help of the hint and some luck we soon had the cache in hand.
Found It!This one took a lot of searching, partly because I forgot where Orbost was, but eventually I found the cache. The toilets here are certainly getting a lot of visitors today.TFTC
On our way home from a weekend exploring Cambera we had time to stop and have a hunt for this as it was a previous dnf, this time it was a quick easy find tftc
Out and about road tripping with a muggle friend. Only doing Adventure Labs and the occasional cache. Second time lucky here as we couldn't find it on the way in the rain but today lucked out after about 10 minutes in drizzly rain. Signed as SS It is certainly wet around this area. Thanks djcache
On our way through to Bremm River, what a great little town. Such a pleasant surprise TFTC JENPETEH, The H,s , South Africans living in Tassie GeoCaching our way around Australia and loving it
For once, my husband wanted to look at the same thing I did- thanks to the CO putting a cache here. It only took me a couple of minutes searching to find the container. Lovely little town - second time weve been here. We first came in our way to Point Hicks to walk the Croajingalong Coast to Eden - a great walk - before the bushfires. TFTC
On a trip south to the southern lands to pick up on the trail of a Golden Dragon. Having picked up on the scent, we are now heading north. Dropped off for a break and some yummy sausage rolls from across the road. Initially followed the GPSr to the structure on the right, but couldn't find anything. Checked the hint and recalibrated our location and made a quick find. With the cache in hand, we signed the log, then replaced as found. Thanks for the cache djcache. The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling, Hidden Creatures Geocoin TB, teamMerlin's Football, Mum's Welsh Flag Tag, Sir Gawain, Big Guy, Will's first TB, Travel Pirate Geocoin, The Travelling bell bug
Stayed at Orbost last night to get out of the rain and cold. Back on the road we decided to pick this one up. Mr Shadow loves these machines but I chose the spot where I would hide it and there it was. Log signed and a smiley on the map. TFTC.
On my roundtrip along Australia with Oopie we are douing always some caches.Today we ware on the way to Melbourne and we did a few nice caches. All COs thanks for bringing us on this nice places and making this caches.
Together with TravelSer Im Down Under. By motorhome we are travelling through the East, South and the middle of Australia.During our trip we visited several caches. Most of them, like these one, brought us to very Nice spots and helped us discovering the area. Thanks a lot for bringing us here. GreetsHans aka 00pie
T8me to Stretch the legs on the way home thought I would give this cache a go.. have searched a few of these in the past year so used power of deduction to find ....no Weetabix this morning extra effort needed to extract this cache.
Found after much searching!! We didn't have a pen so couldn't sign. Pinky swear we found it though!
YAY - found Can River today while having an afternoon tea stop and leg stretch. Thank you for the hint - it helped immensly. My GPS kept taking me closer to the other metal structure. It still took a bit of searching and a lot of pulling - that magnet is the best I've come across. Thanks dj for adopting and maintaining this cache.
PS: The Troll Doll [TN6TR0] were with me on my great caching adventure today.

Sergeant Colon is snoring like a warthog with a head cold, sprawled across his desk in a way that defies both anatomy and logic.
CaptainVimes and I are on a driving holiday from Melbourne to Canberra this week. We stopped here for a break and made a quick find. Thanks for the fun djcache
Last day of our holidays to the Rutherglen Mega, Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra. We wanted to try to get 3 states in a day on the way home. As such, we needed this geocache for the Victorian one, after getting an ACT and NSW geocaches.
We had previous DNFed this one many years ago abyt the last log was the CO stating that it was replaced. Found it fairly quickly and was surprised to see a few other names already in the log book but not online yet.
Thanks for the cache McPhan (adopted by dj cache)

Heading to Orbost for an overnight stop from our Rutherglen/Canberra trip, we were a little reluctant to chose this cache as our pit stop due to the difficulty rating.
These can be tough finds for us, but Steve pulled a miracle out of the bag and had the cache in hand in under 2 minutes. Sometimes Lady Luck is on your side.
Thank you McPhan (adopted by djcache) for an interesting cache.

Cache replaced. New log book. Please be discreet searching. It’s a busy location with high muggle traffic. If you search for the sake of a smiley in peak season you just jeopardize its future. Cheers. Safe travelling. DJ
Will be going through on way to Newcastle week after Easter. Will sort this one out then. Earliest I can get there. DJ

Hi there djcache,
This cache has been flagged by Geocaching HQ as a cache that **MAY** need some attention.
You may recall having received an automated email from Geocaching HQ which explained what you needed to do.
Unfortunately, nothing seems to have happened, so the cache is being temporarily disable - see here: [**Geocache Health Score.**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=713)
**You do need to respond to this enquiry in some way within 14 days, so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.**
#What should you do now:-#
You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-
- **Check On The Cache:-** Visit the cache to check, repair, replace or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache.**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) Then sit back and wait for the logs of praise to roll in.
- **Place A Write Note Log:-** Reviewers are not mind readers (more's the pity), so without your note on the cache page explaining that the site works are on-going, you have been in hospital, the area is in flood, or some other reason that has prevented attending to the cache, they can't tell what is going on.
You need to post a note to the page (within 14 days) explaining the situation and when a Reviewer next looks at the listing, all will be fine for a little bit longer.
Be sure to indicate **the actual date that you expect to have it fixed** so that everyone knows you are on top of it. If you have a long term unavailable cache (where you don't have an actual date) please **post a Write Note log every 4 to 6 weeks,** so as to keep everyone up to speed.
- **Adopt/Archive:-** If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another Geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it,**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56) so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of the above. Well, when the cache is next checked by a Reviewer, if the issue has not been addressed, or there is no acknowledgment as requested above, it will be assumed the cache has been abandoned and processed accordingly.
Honestly, it's better for you to decide, so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.
Thanks for your cooperation,

Messaged owner for direct placement so we could replace if it has been muggled.. No answer so this is our first DNF in a while. We like to help cachers replace their caches but this one will remain missing. Sorry guys
Ran out of time and patience for this one today, it can live to be found another tftc
We spent a good 20mins looking and checked all the hidey holes and could not find it.
Needed a toilet & b’fast stop.
Had a brief look, was being very hopeful based on description & previous logs.
Had much more joy at finding a good coffee at Wild Rye

After two stops, one Christmas Day and one today, we were unsuccessful. We spent around hour on Christmas Day due to lack of muggles but today a high volume prevented another thorough look. Will have to pop this on on our list and try when we are back in the area. Fingers crossed for the next Cachers
This cache has been subject to cache creep on a number of occasions through people not putting it back as found. When I've travelled to Cann River to do maintenance on several occassions it's been found eventually but due to high muggle volume and volume of potential hiding locations when not put back correctly it's even taken me up to an hour to find it. I'm reasonably confident it'll still be there as it's been there for over a decade with very little trouble. Next time I pass by I'll take a look. DJ
Stopped for a look and it's probably here but didn't have the time to give it the attention deserving of a D4. Interesting anyway.
Followed the hint - couldn’t find it - up from Traralgon for some bush nursing
