Description
This cache is an easy find, but has an interesting trip to get to GZ
We were on a 4WD trip to Francois Peron National Park in a World Heritage Area, and came upon this 'Standard Survey Mark'. Checked for a TP cache on GA, but came up with nothing - we can fix that!
We decided to create this cache as a 'virtual', since there is quite a long drive to get here and we live in another state which makes maintaining a physical cache difficult. A 4WD is required for access - hence the T4 rating.
To log the cache you will need to email us at [email protected] with the number on the WA Public Works Brass/bronze plate at GZ and include a pic of the area to your log. Please do not include the number in your log or picture.
GZ is located close to two GC caches, so you can get three caches for your trouble!! The cache is also quite close to an obvious landmark, so actually getting to GZ (only about a 50 metre walk) is easy once you park the car.
The 4WD track in has a tyre deflate / tyre inflate station at the beginning of the 4WD section, and there are instructions on 4WDing on soft sand. We lowered our tyre pressures to 18PSI in our Nissan Navara with a full load in the canopy, and had no problems getting to GZ.
An entrance fee is required to visit the park, and no water is available within the park, so please bring plenty of water. There is a gas BBQ close by at Cape Peron, so bring your steaks and snags along as well. To relax after your drive, drop in to the Peron Heritage Precinct (at the start of the 4WD track) and check out the natural hot tub.
PS : This is our first ever cache hide.
