The Calthorpe Double Master Holstein Breeding Herd is very well known in the cattle breeding industry. Originally outside Latrobe, the expansion of the small town has gradually brought subdivision and housing to within a short distance of the farm. Calthorpe has been in the Perkins family since establishment in 1925 with management of the farm being handed down from one generation to the next. The property is approximately 250ha, comprising 130ha of alluvial river flats on the banks of the Mersey River.
