History of the train

The Margate train was built in England in1950. It was a passenger train that travelled from the North West Coast to Burnie to Hobart and on a branch line to Launceston.
The train is 100 metres long with 7 carriages. It has been off the track since 1978.
The train is located on the Channel Highway, before you enter Margate. Today it is a tourist stop-off and has a range of shops and is the venue for a Sunday market.
