Logs for Slappin Rex

Well after parking what seemed like a thousand miles away we made our way to an old hiking tack we knew all too well form days gone by. Did the usual walk about and the touristy thing then got to the caching. About this time our efforts became a little fruitless as the trusty Garmin 45XL finally gave up the ghost. Giving us nothing but blank stares from the sky we plodded home with nothing found and one dead 45xl.

Thanks for that plantman there was a nice big hole in the ground about the size of an ice-cream container that had me worried thats all. I will take that return trip this afternoon to see how I go. Anyone in the area I'll be out there forraging about 4pm cos the sunset off Pt Cartwright at that time of day is a good one.

Again being a local the area is pretty familiar with us having gone Targa Tasmania through those hills on a few occasions the name rang a bell but it's whereabouts were still a little hazy. Approached from the Nth run through Nambour and found the site without problem. The cache was a different story with a lot of walking about being done as the GPS went a little stupid when we got within 10 meters.
The clue Rock On was the only thing we took with us to work from and luckily we did as we walked all the way to the South of the rock wall over the fence in hope of a find. Soon discovered our mistake on return but not before having to explain to the neighbours of the site what our intentions were. Mind you at the time we were forraging about there backyard.
Loved the view and another spot I never knew existed in my local area. 1st for the day and a good hunt.

Found this as our 2nd for the day yesterday afternoon about 4pm. Had a nice trip out to the GeoCoopers finest out near Montville and although I am a native to the coast I never knew that little patch of Mt Creek existed besides working at the TAFE a mere 500m away from the cache site. A nice day in all and a few locals did wonder what we were up to digging about the local foliage looking for a tupperware container.

Backing up this afternoon with a return visit to hopefully add this one to the list of founds. Know the area a little too well I think and therefore keep on having too little faith in the old Garmin. Two fellow members of the RAI live within 2 minutes walk from the location but there local knowledge didn't get us over the line yesterday.

If someone is close to this cache and would like to confirm it is still there that would be tops. Got right on top of the spot where the cache should have been and found the rudementary Bong but only a hole in the ground about the size of an ice-cream container.

P.S It was late and a long day so we may have just been fuzzy.

The Random Acts of Idiocy again made a visit to this cache. The Garmin went a little crazy and we ended up at the wrong car park (which is sad since we are caloundra locals) so the walk was a little longer then expected but worth the trouble.
Took nothing, left nothing but another chalked up cache on the RAI Card.

After a long summer of lazy days and long nights the Random Acts Of Idiocy were back on the Geocaching trail after a member returned from overseas wanting to see some of his favourite nature in Oz. A 12 month break is not recommended in this sport thats for sure. The bodies groaned and creaked all the way home after a great day up the mountain. Been to this one about 5 times but never logged it. Probably one of the most exhilarting views of the coast. Loving it. Cache in good nick and left as it was when we got there.

Hey Guys
Well The Random Act's of Idiocy took the challenge late one afternoon whilst bored and made it there without too many hassles although the goat track to the top was a challenge for a bunch of unfit teenagers. Enjoyed the view and got a bit eeked out by the gravestones and the old house stumps. Definatly a nice spot all up tho.

Good fun cache. Had a ball on the way up and ended up spending about 2 hours at the top just sitting around it was picturesque and we had little trouble finding the cache. That was our first find and The Random Acts Of Idiocy had a ball getting there. Left behind a couple of photos and traded the QUT Stubby Holder for the faithful Random Acts of Idiocy token visited cards and a few other small trinkets. I thoroughly recommend this one as a starter.

Good little drive to the cache we thouroughly enjoyed the TAGA style roads on the way there. Yes the two starting thing did catch us out and after another 45mins of driving we found the correct car park to start from. We did the Glass House Cache in the morning so Laroon was a nice way to finish the day. We had many problems at the start of the walk with the GPS saying it was in one direction through the little river and the track going the other direction but we followed the track in the hope it would curve back and we managed to find it with about 30mins of light to spare.
