Description
A picture of Melbourne's history
At this location you will find a rather fascinating, small piece of Melbourne's history encapsulated in a single picture. The geocache you are seeking is a micro geocache, the only viable size which could be hidden at this location. If you stop to check out the the sign you should be able to find the geocache without too much issue.
Co-ordinates are notoriously difficult to capture in the CDB so feel free to use the hint to make your search less obvious.
In contrast to the often boisterous nature of Little Bourke Street's east end, only a few blocks away, this was a quiet residential quarter where professional gentlemen and their families lived and worked.
Entomologist and doctor, Godfrey Howitt's villa and vineyard are just visible on the left, next to the two-storey houses where Howitt and Dr. W. D. Campbell lived and practiced medicine in their ground floor surgeries
In 1877, Campbell commissioned the house that now stands at the Spring Street corner. In the distance west was the Crown Law Offices. Contrasting with the medical practices in the area were open bluestones-lined drains - a likely risk to general health.
Iron horse-hitching posts can also be seen amidst the sparsely placed gas street lights.

TNLNSL. Thanks caughtatwork.
TFTC and the history lesson
Thanks for another one....
Our thanks to CaughtAtWork for this cache and the challenge of finding it on such a busy street.
A nice sneaky hide in a high muggle area. Nice info sign here. Had to use my best stealth tactics.
Thanks Caughtatwork
TFTC.
Having come down to Melbourne for an event in Federation Square and with hours to kill before I went home on the train, I chose to walk along Bourke Street and Collins Street.
Bourke Street was ridiculously chaotic, but I did get a chance to have a glance at the Myers Christmas windows.
Collins Street on the other hand was reasonably quiet, which gave me the opportunity to obtain the cache very simply. It was signed hundred and replaced without any pesky muggles observing me?
I didn't really think that I would be able to get a traditional cache in Collins Street, thank you very much for another green found spot on my map
A friend was offering some furniture we were interested in... the only catch was that it was in the CBD.
On the upside, the best time to collect large objects from the city is late at night, especially in the 35+ degree weather we've had for the past few days. So, I might be able to finally log a couple of caches that have been Muggle Central each time I've visited.
Car filled with lengths of metal, I parked at the top end of the city, and set off on foot. This was the 9th cache of the evening, and the first GCA trad I've logged in ages. Thanks for the history lesson and the hunt, C@W.
GCA#133
A quick find and some interesting history while wandering around Melbourne!

A bold hide that I enjoyed finding. Thanks for the cache caughtatwork
It's great to see some of the original architecture from yesteryear still standing.
Well muggles are few and far between at this hour.
Soon I was signing the log.
TFTC
thanks for bringing me to this interesting piece of Melbourne history.

I have been walking past this cache for a few weeks now but it has always been too busy to search. Today was very quiet and the nearby café was closed so it was now of never. A quick search revealed the hiding place and I was very happy to be able to add my name to the log sheet.
Thanks for the cache C@W I hope more people try for this brave placement.
Out dropping gnomes on my way to work this morning but I couldn't a new cache on town. I parked up the road and luckily I didn't have to wait too long before there was a break in the muggle traffic and I was able to quickly grab the cache.
Thanks caughtatwork for the cache. I hope this one lasts a bit longer.
