Description
Free-Ranger is not a cache but a Travel Bug but unlike other bugs the Free-Ranger likes to go it alone with out the safety and comfort of caches to hide in. You can log Free-Ranger here at GCA and on his TB page at GC so you get a GCA find and GC TB find in one go.
After you find him move him on to a new spot (just don't put him in any caches) In both your logs here and at GC include his new hiding co-ords and I will update this cache page whenever he moves.

Logs
Has this one been moved on without being entered?! Or perhaps washed away down the bank with all of the rain?! We found a piece of treated pine timber lying behind the tree but no travel bug anywhere.
Think its gone by its self. lots of action around the tree, not real sure what we were looking for!
Sorry about the delay getting this one back out, It disappeared into the bottomless pit that is my caching bag, no excuses I know. It is now near the remains of an old bird haven that we used to visit when I was a kid
Dropped this one off tonight, it’s now located at the start of a walking track into a very popular area visited frequently by both locals as well as the tourist.
Took the climb and grabbed this cache, quite an easy find this time.
Must have been looking in the wrong spot when it was in its last hiding spot.
Will get it back out and on its way again tomorrow.

Free Ranger now has a pretty good view of Arthur, Barrow and the tailrace. Best access is from small pull off in Pitt Ave next to a very obvious track heading uphill. Keep to the left on the fence line as you go past the old skate park till you hit the gravel access road and follow it to the top. Suck in a couple of big ones before you start as you will need the oxygen to get to the top if you are unfit! No access to cache from Grinter street even though the map suggests such. You can also access from West Tamar RD as we did but track is less obvious and much longer. Only the power lines spoil the view a bit.
We just went back and checked on the little man and people had been scratching around in the right spot but he had been covered over by quite a bit of unstable ground and I had to dig him out of the back of his present hiding place. I will move him to a better location as this one appears to be unsuitable.
Had a good look for this one with no luck, had two GPS’s working for me with both putting me in exactly in the same spot. GPS was taking me onto the board walk with swampy area underneath. It’s been in this location for some time now so hopefully it hasn’t gone missing.

Had a look today but had not realised I was looking for a micro until I got home and looked at the log, didnt have long too look either as Chilli had found the cool playground a bit too tempting
Rolled it down the creek and along the road a bit from it's last location and it ended up not far away as the crow fly's in a very well used park. Traveled all weekend with us past many other caches and locations but finally ended up here. Lots of muggles here, early morning or late evening best times.
Found in the park OK but almost eaten alive by mozzies as it was just on dark. Will move it on to a new location soon.
Got this little fellow backout in a nice little park, I plan to comeback and plant a cache here someday.
Easy walk in from Pitt Ave
Nice spot near a small stream
Hint: (in Piglatin for i always read them by mistake) nbetweenia wota ocksra
(if u dont know piglatin you take the first letter of a word and put it at the end and then add a 'a' on to the end of the word
e.g. hello= elloha

This little specimen is free again and in a more public spot but should not be too hard to locate,
Aprox thigh high in a well kept part of town,

Searched and searched but couldn't find, tried on 2 days . On the first day i had a good search. But on the second day there was an orienteering group which limited my searching to a brief pass bye. I will try again soon. The Coords seem to take me to a open space.
I will be back...

I wonder how long it will take for them to find it?
Was in the area so I thought why not?
Free-Ranger was hidden well but my keen eye found it quick smart.
Will drop it somewhere soon.

To the beach! Not sure about the accuracy of my coords, so use the hint.
Yes, it WAS a nice view of the bay! Nice hide. I'm sure I can find another nice spot to travel to for a bit.
I'm a bit embarassed about how long it has taken me to get this guy back out into the wild. Over Easter I took him to Port Sorell, but couldn't find anywhere *just right*. So now after a month of very little caching, but lots of driving to and from work, I conceded that I'd better just drop him off somewhere along the way to work...
Found after a bit of a search..
Will replace either today or tomorrow..
Cheers!!

Found it with my 3 mini cachers help, will rehide soon.
7/July/07 Haven't cached in ages, so come get it, knock at the door, say the pass phrase "When the swan is in the lake, the crow is in the nest", and the bug is yours. S41 10.143 E146 20.327
Cheers,

the ranger "rocks!" Found him in Alissons Lizard cache- he's lost his container somehow. Probably cracked. visited teh doctor and got him another added a note and planted him.
Met at the Tips and Tricks night. Interesting idea for him. Hope to see him again.
Called in to grab this one while we were out placing our first caches. It has finished enjoying the view here so we will move it on. Stanleys
Now sitting on the top of a hill overlooking the gulf. Has a good view of the storms as they roll in!!
Back out there. Just scratch around the trees and check out the view at the same time.
Dropped this one off, but i think it may have been quickly grabbed by the shady character travelling in the car behind me...
Hidden in a hidey hole, not far from a brand new cache in the southern suburbs....
Grabbed on way home from work this morning. Plenty of muggles around, heading to the Clipsal 500!
Will re-stash soon.
Stay Tuned....

Nice and close to the Clipsal 500 track for anyone going to see the race this weekend.
In a smallish oak tree.

Picked him up near Lobethal.
I shall drop him a bit closer to the Clipsal 500 car race!

Caught out by a fellow geocacher so sent him on a mission. Good luck Free-Ranger
Picked up early to get a head start on everyone. Will place again by this afternoon.
The Free Ranger is on the loose again, this time on the outskirts of Mount Barker. He is hidden in exactly the same way as TeamAstro placed him on Hindmarsh Island. Finding the right road to the cache may not be as straight forward as one may initially think. Locals shouldn't have a problem though.
Picked up the Free-one at a lonely little corner of Hindmarsh Island. Will place him somewhere new very soon. Thanks Mix.
Released into the Adelaide suburbs... This place can be quite busy, so have fun! But at least it's an 'independent' location as specified.
Free-Ranger is with us now after we picked up from a park. We will move him on soon after he spends a bit of time with us in our caravan.
Dropped him at S 33 24.521 E 151 21.448.
Hopefully he will be found soon.
Donkey is still with him as they could not bear to be separated.

Have taken him from his resting place. Now to decide where he will go. . . .
Finally, after many months of entrapment in the hands of the dreaded SteelRat, Free Ranger is once again free. To range.
And this time he has company.
A swaggie by the name of Donkey (#0001) has hitched a lift.
The pair were last seen hiding out in a tree at...
S33° 13.985
E151° 33.609
...which is on an island. While this could prove to be an excellent opportunity to employ all manner of water craft or parachuting skills for the intrepid among us, the rest can just use the foot bridge.

Free Ranger will droppoing in to the Blackbutt caching event to be reunited with his Master ... if only for a short time.
Went off for a nice morning stroll, which became a hill climb. Had to search around a bit until Mrs C.O.D says "Gotcha you little sucker". Great hiding spot Wombats. On the move again, will drop off in approx a week. Thanks also to Mix!
I've taken him a little out of the way to a little known reserve that eventually takes you to the Katandra - Rumbalara track. It is recommended to park at :-

Some clues are required as the skygods get very angry at first.
1) Go up.
2) You probably won't get reasonable GPS reception until you get to the first outcrop of large rocks.
3) At GZ I only had an EPE of about 12m. Look for something that isn't quite right.
Take the time to explore the area. Have fun.
