Description

This cache is near some old mining equipment in Tullah

I had driven past it many times on the way to work and thought it looks pretty cool, and people might be interested in the old mining stuff, so here is my first cache, might get a bit muddy getting to the cache but it's all in good fun, plus I was absolutely drenched putting it out there.
You will know where it is extremely easily :P you'll see.

#GA4068 - 12:25; Today's mission was to collect finds in the four remaining dragonZones on the Tasmanian 'mainland', so I headed off early for Rosebery and then to work my way back towards Launceston. Stopped off for a catch-up with a fellow cacher in Ulverstone, then headed off. Stopped off in Tullah at the start of the return journey and parked the geomobile. Found an easy way over the water obstacle and on to GZ. Did a circumnavigation before making the find and adding my name to the log. TFTC Prunes Very HappyClan Cerberus

Yep, knew what I was heading for when I could see it. Great place for a cache. Had to find the narrowest part of the creek to jump over! Being short definitely has it's disadvantages Smile.

26-Jan-18
A quick find after a full stretch jump over the creek. What a fascinating area full of interesting history. Thanks for the reason to stop.

26-Jan-18
A quick find on the way to the Oz day event with SSRat and Goose&Egg.TFTC

This was a new one for me, having cached all over the west coast a few times but leaving a few for another time, and now was that time.
A quick find when we made our way over the water hazard.

Wow - what a great old cache

Looking at the log book was like a history of Tasmanian caching.

Certainly remote to be safe / but close enough to get many visits

23-Nov-16
I made my way from the car, jumped the water course...okay, landed in it Embarassed. I have never been very good at jumping, and age hasn't improved this. The cache was easily found and it's in good condition. Not found in almost three years. WOW Rolling Eyes! Then I returned the same way, this time miraculously clearing the water course Shocked. 08-Sep-13
A quick find which was unexpected as it hadn't been found for so long. The ground was a bit slippery under foot due to all the rain recently but the cache and its contents were nice and dry in its hidey hole. Took the swaggie to move it along - our very first swaggie ever! Dancing

22-May-12
Searched in, around, in again, in again, around and in again.
No luck today - suspect it's gone deep!

09-May-12
A quick, easy find in a very interesting spot. Dropped in a Swaggie Travel Bug...Flaggie#4. Hope someone visits again soon to move him on his way. Replaced ziplock bag. Cache in good condition. Lots of recent plantings in the area . TFTC [^]

Found on our West Coast Wilderness holiday with whitewebbs. While staying at Zeehan we found several caches in the area and this was one of them. An interesting entry in the log book from a 10 year old who wrote "I love this book" Dry underfoot today TFTC

A nice easy find with everything nice and dry.

A quick find and, thankfully, we didn't get wet nor muddy. Old mining equipment is fascinating - it highlights the labour intensive nature of early mining. TFTC

this one didn't stump us.

13-Mar-09
I spent a bit of time poking around the park across the road first.
Plenty of rock trolleys and other rock paraphenalia to be gawked at.
But soon enough the caching trolley got on track and I wandered over to find the prize.
There seemed one obvious place.
Maybe if it was painted dayglo orange it would be more obvious ?!!
TFTC and Tullah tour.

Dad Stopped, I bolted..... like Snuva said, Geocachers Beacon Wink ... didn't take the GPS as it was pretty obvious where we needed to look Smile

TNLN, thanks Prunes.

13-Mar-06
Can we say ‘geocachers’ beacon’?! Knew right where we were going as soon as we hit the car park. As the cachingdynamo needed to log this find as well, I thought it would be faster to just send the slaves up (it wasn’t!) and bark instructions from the cacheMobile. Female slave reached it right on the heels of the cachingdynamo – both could see it before it was extracted from its hide. TNLNSL. On to The Aztec King!!!

21-Jan-06
Found on the trip west to claim Aloysius' 200th cache. Nice little area this. The plaques are quite interesting, as is "Wee Georgie Wood", the little train over the road. Found the cache reasonably easily (nice standard hide, that's the stuff...)! Wink

Took - 486 Chip.
Left - Castrol Keyring.

Thanks Prunes!

16-Jan-06
Tried to beat Aloysius to GZ but he found the cache 1st....grrr

Thanks Prunes, an interesting spot!

16-Jan-06
Found rather easily given the false start by searching in what might have been an obvious spot - I didn't use a GPS but I figured "hey, it's called Rock Trolly", let's look under it.

Was going to swap out the CPU, but though it might not work very well anymore. TNLN. Thanks Prunes.

16-Jan-06
Yay another find on a ripper of a caching trip. Dont know what the other two we're grumbling about.

As soon as the GPS got a fix i knew where the cache was...it was like a geocachers beacon Smile

Cheers for this one Prunes.

First cache for the day with Hingrock on the West Coast for a bit of work an a bit of caching…..what a life. As soon as we stopped and looked around we saw GZ and a great spot to hide a cache. Well done Prunes on your first cache in a great spot and a good hide.
