A lunch stop on our way home

30-Dec-19
GrimRaider and I stopped off to check out the mine today but it was too hot to do the earthcache so we just grabbed this cache. We plan to come back to have a look in cooler weather. TFTC

20-Oct-19
Day 19 of our outback adventure which included QOGM 2019.
Thank goodness for GCA caches as the journey would have been quite boring

Nice a quick one as I head to get to Narromine to set up camp. Glad I took a moment to check out the hole!

18-Sep-18
Spent a few hours here on our way up north, destination to be the QOGM events at Barcaldine.
Very interesting location and lovely walk. TFTC Cruzzzinaround.

12-Aug-18
very interesting and alot of information boards telling about history of mine. great walk up hill but we have to head home.

14-Nov-17
The area is obviously under re-development. It has some excellent walks with lots of educational billboard stops and safe lookouts. The tracks are well made and the gradient is quite low for a hill. If you decide to do this take the photo with you because the tracks need more directional signs. Very Happy

We stopped by here to visit the site and locate the caches. We are on our way to the Alexandra event in Victoria. TFTC Clan MinotaurWink

#GA1656 - 16:55; Day 30 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune, albida33 and fitzy_1965. Today was a shorter run from Nyngan to Nevertire, Warren, Trangie, Narromine and on to Dubbo before heading to Parkes for the night. Sdl and I decided to spend the rest of the day in and around Dubbo and left our fellow cachers in Narromine. After collecting quite a few caches in Dubbo, we were passing through Peak Hill on our way to Parkes for the night. Stopped off to grab a snap here while we waited for our compatriots to rejoin us for the final leg. TFTC Cruzzzinaround Very HappyClan Cerberus

My phone is my gps. what an amazing site is so big but pales in comparison to another mine i saw recently although it was different kind. Good to learn about it too.

Found on a geocaching trip to Forbes today. There were 2 signs with aerial views at this spot, so i took a photo of the newer one.

Found on the NSW leg of our Round Aust trip
After staying a few days in Dubbo and a huge day at the Zoo Saturday, backed up again Sunday for another big day. I got to feed a Giraffe as it was my birthday lol. Monday we stayed an extra day for a rest day and to catch up with clothes washing and to try and get the kids to do some school work, LOL!.

Today we headed down to Forbes where I used to live when I was a kid. On the way we stopped here at the old mine for a quick look and ended up spending at least an hour looking around at all the exhibits.

Ran around this one too close to dark but had fun anyway.

30-Jun-13
A last minute decision was made to stop here and do this cache and the earth cache. Although the stop took more time than we allowed we were glad we made the effort. Thanks, a top spot.

WanderingAus wandered by on day 113 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, making our way from Darwin towards Perth via Mount Isa, Townsville, Emerald, Goondiwindi, Gunnedah and Wentworth.

After a night at the Peak Hill Caravan Park TomTom alerted me to the presence of this cache, so I headed over and the WanderingMrs took the requisitie photo.

A quick leg stretch on the way to Albury/Wodonga

20-Apr-11
Stopped here because of the nearby EarthCache and then realised there was this virtual here.

The location was informative, and the walks around the pits provided good views.

Thanks for the cache.

10-Oct-10
Found after staying overnight in Peak hill on the way to Toowoomba. I must say I never expected anything "touristy" around here, it's amazing what you find when there is a geocache next to it. It was blowing a gale and my wifes hayfever was playing up so we didn't get to have a good look around the site but we saw the main pits and got a few photos.

02-Oct-10
Found at 3.55pm - only 5 minutes to do a walk before they supposedly lock the gate. Came by here about 8 years ago, and at that time they were still operational AND you had to pay to do the site viewing - much better on the pocket now that it's free. TFTC

25-Aug-10
Passing on my way home from a trip up north it was good to check out an area that I have driven past most times. The walk to do the GC Earthcache was fantastic and the holes on the ground are really quite impressive. Thanks

06-Apr-10
It was raining when I got here so just took a picture out of the window. Would be great to see from above. TFTC

06-Apr-10
Had a walk up to look into the big hole with the Little Fuddleys. Did not stay too long as it was cold and raining. Nice history of the area all the same.

Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1330 on a warm sunny day.Unfortunately there was no entry as the gates and kiosk were all locked up until the next school hoilidays. It would have been good to look at the site for this history.
Tnx for the chase.

We've been through this town many times and have never visited this area, but unfortunately with time constraints and it being 7-30 pm we still haven't. After reading about the area it's definitely on our to do list next time through.
All we can say is it must have been a BIG pick and shovel
Thanks for bringing us to this fascinating location

Our first venture out for a while and we started with this. Nice spot, pity it was closed. Sad Guess we'll have to come back when it's open and have a look around inside the fence (or.....we could jump the fence when it's closed and look anyway.....)
