Description
A cache to take you near the site of Colebrook Park.
Welcome to our first cache placement. This site was created in 1986 and we were surprised at the wet feature turned on for us at time of placement. This new feature has been a boon for the local economy and farmers. The cache is named in honor of 'Colebrook Park' a property that is somewhere in the centre of the new feature. Colebrook Park was a two-storey sandstone house built by Andrew Tolmey between 1828 and 1831. In 1842, the bushranger Martin Cash absconded from the Jerusalem Gang and broke into the house to get provisions for his escape. In 1839, a steam-powered flour mill, "Tolmey's Mill", was established - the fourth steam-powered flour mill in Van Diemens Land. Further information is available in the nearby town originally known as Jerusalem. Cache is a 1 litre Sistema. At time of placement cache included stashnote, logbook, pencil and sharpener and spare zip bags. Swaps were dog toy, bubble bath, bubble mix, baseball-mitt buttons, keyring, blue stars, pair of star floating candles and a dinosaur. Beware of fishing muggles, they can pop-up unexpectedly. While camping is not permitted here, there are public toilets and dogs are allowed. Access is available 24 hours, just be careful near GZ as it is steep. You will need to climb a stile to get to GZ but it is well built for the purpose. Enjoy!
Logs
Cache lid is split with pieces missing, but is so far managing to stay dry.
Found with Lil Rafa on the return leg of our geo-trip to complete the TTAI Apple series.
A good day with great company.
The cache was dry inside and this surprised me since the lid has a big hole in it, log book is fine also, I would have replced the container but since this was a spur of the moment thing I had not spares with me sorry.
Thanks for the cache and the views of the dam from this side are very good and I would never have seen if not for caching.
Grabbed a photo water being released from the dam, which was rather surprising looking at the general water level.
Thanks Fairly Magic......
Lid still broken and contents damp but the log is dry in its bag. Kids did a few swaps. enjoyed the walk TFTC
Thanks for the cache fairly magic
Lots of muggles about, fishing or camping in front of a No Camping sign.
The Cache wasn't too far away according to the GPS, but it stayed that distance as we walked right round it. Could have taken the direct route - but only if you wanted to swim and mountain-climb.
This is a very nice spot. Wouldn't have known about it apart from caching. The other side of the spill-way was interesting, it's been washed back to bare rock.
TFTC!
We were looking for a leg stretch cache as we traveled from Ross to Port Arthur and this one looked the goods. Turned off the main road and made our way to the parking area to find one other car parked. A single occupant was in the passenger seat so for a minute we wondered if another cacher might be visiting. Checked the GPSr and saw that we had a nice stroll ahead so climbed the stile and walked around to GZ. Like a few dams/reservoirs we've visited recently in Victoria the lack of water is all apparent Arrived at GZ and the cache-magnet s-facit found her 7th cache of our trip. Signed log and was just re hiding when an official looking chap drove up, headed down to the mechanical worked then back to the public facilities. Not the only time we would see this fellow today!

Thanks Fairly Magic for a nice walk to an interesting bit of engineering. Too bad it isn't spilling water any more (Wonder if it will ever reach the obvious high water mark again?)
While Mr red tag fished the area below the dam wall I went in search of the cache. Found it eventually after looking from a certain direction.
The dam is the lowest I have ever seen and the fish are just as hard to catch as ever. A few muggles stood at the end of the boat ramp looking very frustrated. There was no way their campervan was going to be able to launch their boat when the ramp fell a good 50 metres short of the water.
TFTC Fairly Magic. Great location for a cache
As gspblu said there are definitaely fish there as a monster size trout broke the water less than 5 metres in front of me. His huge back arched up out of the water and the size of his tail was massive.
Water level is very low and at the rate that it is being let go down the river it will get lower still.
Thanks Fairly magic
Took Craigrat mini CD, left mini padlock.
just after parking amuggle turned up and drove to the cache walked across and waited for him to do his stuff before checking the goodies out
got pulled over on the way out by a couple a fellas that looked all stressed out asked whats up and the reply was :the beer is in the car and its locked
with a bit of assistance we had there thirst quenched and on our way.
fairly magic area t war hero l snake thanks fairly magic
Loved the short walk, punctuated by commentary by CraigRat as to the history of this place - he really is a hive of usefull information!
Cache was found quite easily. I think I took nothing and placed a Mondo in this cache.
A nice walk to the feature (it's a lot bigger than I thought).
Cache was found easily and we did the deed.
Took Frog left Team CraigRat useless Mini CD
Thanks!!
GZ was a surprising oasis - and kept us out of view of muggles perfectly! I approached following the arrow with GPSr in paw, got to GZ, and found cache immediately. TNLNSL Thanks you Fairly Magic!!
Left glo in the dark necklace, took dog chew toy.
Looking forward to your next one!!
Found the cache after a short hunt with us all looking in the wrong place.
Will(iam) took bubble bottle, I was going to leave 2 bounce balls. Next time I'm going through this area, I'll drop them off.
Thanks Fairly Magic.
More education on the way out - what are those things behind the little building? Rain Gauges (the long one is old and full of water and the other is a tipping bucket gauge).
I learnt that the swimming holes here are good and that you can sit under the spray from the dam, if you dont slip away.

On the way out I'm torn between thinking I it wouldn't have been beyond reason for a Hobart cacher to be here already" and "They wouldn't drive THIS far!".
Pick the latter. Walking up the path to the cache, there is a couple of peopel walking out. No fishing poles. Bugger!! Cachers!! It was DDTs who we had met the day before.
This was a marvellous cache. The parking spot gives no indication to the caches quality location. Just incredible - this is going on my recommended list.
Think it could have been better named - this is far more than a park cache. Maybe "Cut & Paste" or "Photoshopped"? Or "Hidden Wonders"? Colebrook Park will do though... How on earth did you know this was here?
Swapped a hands free kit for a bubble bath.
Thanks guys!
