Exploring around Maitland for the day and grabbing some caches as we go. Nice easy find and a good spot for a rest after our drive. The eldest son decided to square up to the fighter. We saw a council worker driving the mower back and forth over grass that was already freshly cut. Not sure what was going on there.

21-Feb-21
Large statue, easy to find!. It's in a nice little park too.

21-Mar-19
Staying at the showgrounds for a caravan rally.
Out again this morning to find some caches.
Also got a GC cache here.

Smile Found this on an overcast but warm Saturday morning with my Geo-daughters

04-Jun-17
First for the day as we leave the Maitland area and head to Newcastle.
Had heard of Les Darcy but wasn't aware of his impressive accomplishments until we visited this memorial today.
Such a short life and we must google and see why he died so young.
But being a boxer it may have been too many punches to the head. Really don't understand the attraction of this sport but I suspect it was a way of earning money back in the days of Les Darcy.
Thanks.

13-Aug-16

Amazing guy!
Thanks for bring me here

06-Oct-11
We were in this park for the GC Les Darcy cache and noticed this one on my GPSr only. My companions don't normally do GCA caches, so it's absence from their GPSrs made us suspect a GCA cache in the area. Then when the coordinates led us straight to the statue, we made a guess that it was a virtual & took what we guessed (correctly it turned out) would be the required photo.

28-Apr-11

Peter Fitzsimmons has not long ago released another book about Les which makes a good quick read. Worth a look. His grave site is not too far from here as well and apparently there may be plans afoot to spruce it up. RIP Les, you 'da man.

Is this a cache that requires us to be photographed with the statue of Les in the park at Maitland, or is ther something more to this?
