Description

A great spot to watch the Flying Fox Flyover at dusk!

A nice little park on the river. There's even a playground for the kids!

Cache is a small silver painted plastic container a little larger than a matchbox. If there are muggles about, take a seat to admire the river and read the hint!

Found myself with a bit of time on my hands this arvo, so I decided to grab this stash. It was getting late, and the view towards Surfers was amazing. I'd been to the other side of the canal before, but never over here. Cache is in good nick, logbook nice and dry. Great cache! Thanks Zactyl!

#GA3012 - 16:35; This was the closest unfound GCA cache to our digs in Broadbeach, so I decided that I should at least give it a try before heading for home tomorrow. Parked on the street, only to find a carpark as I headed to GZ. There was a lot of muggle activity on the opposite side of the cacnal, but nothing at GZ, which allowed me to have a good poke around. I felt something and after a bit of manipulation came up with a find on the cache. I had been concerned by the previous DNF, but can now confirm that all is in order on this old cache. lovely day on the coast to go geocatching but unfortunately I could not find this one. Sneaking suspicion it was not there!

11-Feb-18
We had been to the Lifeline Bookfest - lots of lovely books on adventures and chocolate there and since we were nearby I suggested that we go and check on this cache. I was really worried because its a lovely spot and the last person who visited said it was missing. I am really happy to say it is still there - although the Velcro dots have disappeared so the cache has moved slightly (by about 10cm) to a spot under the seat that you might need a pokey stick to help get out. The hinge on the container has also broken so you'll need to push the lid back on.

I would have liked to have repaired it - I am very good at fixing things, but Suzy only had books in her backpack not her caching kit. Maybe we'll come back soon.

Even though I was with Suzy and Pete when they found it in January 2017, I now have my own caching account so I thought I should sign the logbook to say I have found it too.

Thank you for the cache Zactyl. I'll try to help look after it for you.

We visited this location on Saturday Lunch time and found the location of the cache but the cache itself was missing.

We had travelled to the coast for an family gathering and stopped to pick this one up TFTC Smile

Found with the geokids, as our muggle friend drove us from cache to cache, to record store, to cache...

Was in the Gold Coast for a coouple of days break between Christmas and July only had a bit of time for caching in the area as didn’t have access to the car for long. A nice find of an old GA cache in Queensland. Thanks for the zactyl

25-Dec-17
A great little hidden away park that isn't accessible by going to the obvious spot of Cascade Gardens and thinking there'll be a walking bridge......there isn't that we could see. Rolling Eyes After circling our way around, we were expecting to find a crowd on Christmas Day - not a single person! A good little nook for the cache but it's the simple camo that keeps this old cache safe. Happy to have finally found it after seeing it on the map for years - a cache find for the States of the Nation and double points for us, woohoo!! Very Happy TFTC zactyl.

A quick find after a visit to the Carrara Markets.
This is a great little park we would not have visited without geocaching.

12-Jul-17
Heading home after a couple of weeks in Queensland and headed into the Gold Coast to try this one. A bit of roadwork meant a turn around however after a bit of dodging and weaving I eventually arrived at a neat little park. Walked over to GZ and soon had the cache in hand. After signing the log and replacing the cache, we sat down here for lunch and enjoyed the sunshine and the views.

Thanks Zactyl....a great little spot to visit.

Today we were close by and noticed this cache was still active so decided to try and find it.
Our driving gps was not sure how to get us into the area. After a tour of the area on the opposite side of the canal we thought we'd seen a way across so ignored the gps and headed around.
After a few twists and turns, to our delight, we found ourselves close by.
At first we couldn't see an object fitting the hint but as we continued to follow our gps we came round the building and there it was. A quick search revealed the tiny container and we were pleased that, even after all this time the cotainer and log are dry and in good condition. We were pleased to add our name to the log.

Thanks for the cache Zactyl we hope it remains active for many years to come.

This is the only 'active' GCA traditional cache, this side of the M1 on the Gold Coast. Its been on my radar for years but couldn't never figure out how to get there. We've seen it plenty of times from the Cascade Gardens side but Little Tallebudgeera Creek just got in the way. Recently while researching the original Gold Coast canal developments I had an 'aha' moment and figured it out. Today was the day to see if this almost 11 year old cache was still in play... and the answer is a resounding yes!

Its still in great condition, nice and dry, with no evidence of water damage. Must admit I was expecting a slightly different hide considering its location and grabbed a stick to help with removal. Didn't need it.

This is a great little park, but considering my research and how I know the area was developed I'm kind of scratching my head as how it came to be. Thanks for the cache.

07-Aug-15
This turned out to be a bit of a mission as I hadn't checked the map before setting out. Got to within 65 metres of the cache before I realised that I was probably on the wrong side of the river. Continued out to the end of the peninsula in the dark to confirm, so then backtracked to take the road over the bridge. Eventually arrived at GZ to make a quick find. Thanks for the hide zactyl. I enjoyed this one.

A quick find in a quiet little park. Surprised how long it's been since it was last found. Cache is in good condition although there was a problem with the amount of ants in it. Sat and watched the cheerleaders practising on the other side of the water. Thanks.

13-Oct-11
Found this one after getting my 800th GC find. I walked around to GZ and thought I knew where this one must be be. Nope not there... So I read the desciption, the logs and then the hint...DOH...really...Back I went and found the little bugger nicely hidden. Well done zactyl, nicely little hide. SL and replaced. TFTC. Cool 66 weeks and unfound. I wish these GCA caches would get found more often ExclamationExclamation

Found easily while visiting the Gold Coast to watch a fireworks display being put on by a pyrotechnic mate - well we needed to fill in the time until nightfall somehow didn't we? We were surprised by how many little parks there are in the area. TFTC zactyl

Nice park, but I was glad there was no one else around.

Found cache easily, thanks zactyl

Nice hide. Took me a couple of attempts to get to this park. I managed to get within 80m of it the other day but didn't have my water walkers on. However the best bit of being on the wrong side of the river was seeing a tree full of Flying Foxes. Magic.

Our First!
Wandered around in dark, looking dodgy, but found it pretty quick. Then sat and took in the peaceful evening and the reflections off the water.
Thanks for getting us hooked!

Great park i had no idea was here. found about 17:30 on our way home, the p[ark was fairly quiet except for a few muggles walking their muggle dogs. Found quickly and took in the surrounds while i sat and signed the log.
Thx zactyl for the cache and showing us this little park.

Nice little find while passing on my way to a job. This is the first cache I have done while on the phone to a customer. As I was walking to GZ, the phone went so I answered it and during the conversation (which was very boring) I sat down, found the cache, signed the log, put it back, logged the field note into the GPSr and returned to the car before finishing the call. Who said guys couldn't multitask?!
TFTC Zactyl.

Still plenty of daylight as I came into GZ, trying not to attract too much attention from early Halloween Party guests nearby. Sit and admire the view and then on my way . Thanks guys.

I found this cache with caughtatwork and the family today, then I played on the playground. Thank you zactyl.

Found by caughtatwork at 9:45
Was a little confused as to how to get to this cache location at first, but a quick reference to the maps in the car and the correct way was found.
Handy having the name of the park in the cache name around here. The streets are very confusing for someone not from around here.
A very nice location for a cache and we took the time to check out the views along the river and then for soe fun time on the playground nearby.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks Zactyl. Our first GCA for our holiday in your fabulously warm state.

My first QLD cache. Came to QLD for a wedding and couldn't pass up the opportunity to do some caching. Quick find on a wet and windy "Victorian" day. You're supposed to come to the Gold Coast to get away from the cold!! Never mind, was fun nonetheless.

02-Sep-07
After working out how to get there, this wasn't any great drama... although at 9pm or so at night, the bark of the dog in the house nearby had me a little uneasy... TFTC.

22-Aug-07
was found on a quick call on way home from work

Nice easy find and our second Cache in QLD. Great little micro and a good hide

Another one of my early morning cache hunt finds.

Great little spot,
Thanks Zactyl

The 3 women went shopping, the 3 men went caching. I would call that a win-win situation. Easy find once we got the right side. Then the boys went for a play on the playground. TNLNSL, thanks zactyl.

Left this one for the girls to find. The clues helped and with the experience of Cable cache they were on to it in no time.

Easily found. Nicely hidden though. Couldn't find the old one anywhere. Nice peaceful park.
