Description

You'll find that Sommers here all year long! And if you're lucky enough to be here in summer it looks like a great beach for a swim. The cache is hidden in the obvious spot and contains the usual swaps and a log book and pen.

Thanks for the cache Caxixi.
Wasn't particularly targetting this cache today, but as I was driving past, I though it was worth a look. I noticed it was last found in 2016! - would it still be here?
Yep! Cache is still in great order and the log was dry. The GeoGSP and I have visited this beach a few times - we were the only ones here today, there was evidence of a very high tide last night with lots of seaweed all the way up the beach, with another high tide forcast tonight. Now, off to see if we can find those other GCA caches nearbly.

Lovely day on the beach. Short walk and a quick find. Thanks you for placing a cache in such a scenic location.

A new cache published on GC made me look at this area and what do you know there are a load of good GCA caches awaiting me to find them (I must look into notifications from GCA)
After a short walk along the shore we soon spotted the likely hide location and what do you know we were signing the log in no time and had time to enjoy the view.

I found this cache with GooseandEgg on 20th Feb 2016 at 09:10am
Thanks for the cache

A new close by cache was the reason SSR and I decided to head to Sommers Bay today. After finding that one we walked around the foreshore to find this one. A quick find at 9.11am on a fairly high tide. I had many visits to Sommers Bay as a child because friends of my parents had a shack here, It was nice to reminisce today. TFTC

I've wanted to do this cache for years so it was great to find this one on my first trip into the area ever. The sunset was amazing. Thanks Caxixi.

Found this cache whilst in the area completing some other caches on a very pleasant day.
*log entered late as I missed it on the day

On returning from the Sommer series this was quick to find but a bit of a stretch. TFTC Caxixi

For the last couple of months we had on the radar a visit to the Murdunna area to both the see the destruction from the bushfire and to get the Barard caches. We also thought buying morning coffee and lunch would be a way of helping the local businesses. Coffee at the Murdunna store was acceptable but only came in throw away containers; it could be better with cups and some food to choose from plus a door directly out to the deck. Lunch was at Dunalley Waterfront Café (http://www.dunalleywaterfrontcafe.com/) had a nice atmosphere and service was good. Sommers Bay is a pretty area.

This cache is in the middle of the fire zone on the Tasman Peninsula and entry won't be allowed for the general public for at least another week. Recommend the owner disable the cache until it can be checked.

Just down the road from a friends shack. Beautiful area.

This lovely beach was deserted when we arrived = very quiet. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. TFTC

It was a cool morning and I wished I had not left my jumper in the car.

It was a nice walk to the ground zero, with a semi trail going towards the obvious tree

Thank you for the cache.

Took Nothing and Left Left except a signature.

I've been wondering where it went the last few days.
But I found out where Sommers been hiding this morning.
Still very cool, cloudy and drizzly though.
But at least I had the beach to myself.
Nice views through the haze.
TFTC and Sommers daze.

A trip down memory lane for me on this one! Spent many a day on this beach in my childhood, madly avoiding stepping on the masses of Soldier Crabs that sadly didn't make an appearance for Snuva, who now thinks I was making the whole thing up!

I'm afraid to say I never recall getting much swimming done here though- it takes ages walking out into the bay before you get anywhere near waist deep! My uncle had a shack here, and I spent many a weekend with him, riding out around Conical Hill on a "Bitsa" motorbike, and creating artworks out of flotsam and jetsam.

He sadly passed away at way too young an age, and I miss him terribly, but I thank you Caxixi (and Snuva!) for bringing me back here; It is still a happy place for me, touched with sadness!

This was a nice place to stop and find a cache after our big fishing trip at Eaglehawk Neck today.
At GZ the thought crossed my mind to let Mr red tag go and find it while I waited in the car (I was still recovering from several hours of being seasick) but the walk on terra firma combined with the fresh air and finding a cache made me feel heaps better so a big thanks Caxixi
Took picture frame and the two pens in the cache that were both broken and left a stubby holder and a new pen.

12:25 PM This was just a fantastic beach! Oddly enough, although it was right in the middle of the Australia Day weekend we had the beach itself to ourselves - however the water was littered with kayaks. But who could blame them!

Thank you for the cache!

28-Sep-07
The motorhome was a bit large to turn around down along the road but we made it. We had a pleasant walk along the beach. Some muggles had left a nice note in the logbook and left an orange ballon. Maybe some new converts.

Thanks for the cache.

I have never been to this bay before.. was a beautiful day and the water looked inviting.

Found the cache without too much trouble after enjoying a walk on the beach.

One of our last finds at the end of a great visit to Tasmania. We managed to time this visit, on our way back from Waterfall Bay, to coincide with one of the most beautiful sunsets we have seen the whole time we've been down under. Took nothing, left a snowman puzzle. TFTC.

What a beaut spot! The sun was shining, but it wasn't too hot. The weather was unusually calm. There were a multitude of crabs to welcome us and show us how they dig holes in the sand. Thanks for bringing us here Caxixi. Took whistle/compass/thermometer, left mondo doll and key ring.

13-Apr-07
This was one of our favourite places in our week in Tassie. It was a beautiful day and this was such a serene and stunning spot. Geogirl played on the beach for ages. Cache is very well stocked. Took memo magnets and left a compass whistle. Tnx for making us leave the highway to see this special place.

We admit that we only remembered at the last minute to check our list that included GCA caches - and lucky that we did, or we would not have made this detour en route to Port Arthur. Nice day for nice walk on nice beach! Found cache and jack jumpers found us, so we relocated to the beach, where we T birthday tissues (don't know if we will be able to bring ourselves to spoil them by using them though!), L frog cubeSL. Thanks Caxixi.

Drove here after dropping family at the airport for a redeye flight.
Found easily after a short walk from the cachemobile.
Wonderful morning - warm wind blowing, sun not quite up yet, waves lapping behind me and not a soul in sight. FTF #1 for today, because el golco wouldn't accept the honour.
Took keyring, left cards.
Thanks Caxixi
Swampy

Found fair, square and above board (hidden while el golco waited at sea) but will not claim FTF as cache had not been posted. Just couldn't resist a find!
Thanks Caxixi, may well return in the summer. TNLNSL Very tempted by suction cup ball but no swaps on board Sad
