MrT headed out along Narrowneck on a bike ride today. Walked from the trail down to the cache. This area was all burnt out from the fires in January and the cache has obviously not survived the heat from the fires well. There is a huge melted hole in the side of the container, and the log sheet is damaged (wet and dried again!). The pen in the container no longer works and as MrT left his back in the car, a photo of the container is attached. He returned the container where he found it. Maintenance is needed.

Six years since it was last found! And despite the fires from last year, it was in a good enough shape.
I wasn’t too happy with the depth I could have fallen if I misstepped, it’s was too high for a Dutchman.
If you are still around, TFTC!

It was very atmospheric at GZ this morning. For most of the time I was there the area was shrouded in mist - I couldn't even see the cliff on the opposite ridge. Then, briefly, the sun broke through and the glorious vista was revealed.
The hide is very close to the edge so I retrieved it gingerly, checked the contents and signed the log. Then continued on to Serendipity.
Thanks The Crazyheads. The cache is in good shape. Found at 11:11 am.

After finding two GCAs overlooking the Jamieson, our merry band made its way to this cliff edge above the Megalong. Just as we arrived, we were hit by a wind gust, which fortunately blew us up from the cliff, rather than over it.
Another breathtaking location. TFTC

After leaving 'Serendipity' we eventually arrived at this cache. Once retrieved I stood near the area to log. My third ever GCA cache. Once again I enjoyed being able to share this experience with others. I was wary of this cache as it was so close to the cliff line. Though I did enjoy the view all around the valley. TFTC.

This was the third cache of the day for our group and I thought the most dangerous considering the violent wind gusts. My vertigo prevented me getting too close but the more intrepid members went for it, I was more nervous standing back watching them than they were doing the actual work!
The cache was soon in hand and duly signed by all the members of the group.
Thanks for the outstanding view from here.

Despite the tiring legs I had to stop and get this one. Goodness it is a long way down!

Found on an early morning walk on narrowneck. Lots of muggles on the track but no such issues at GZ. Amazing spot - thanks crazyheads. TNLNSL.

Nearly a 6 km walk round-trip, but Mrs. pjmpjm and I had a great trek, with spectacular views at the end. This Katoomba area cache hadn't been logged for more than a year, but in the end we found it fairly easily and it was in good shape.
Parking is available at the metal gates and the fire trail is pretty good most of the way, with a couple of steep bits. Nearing GZ the views open up on both sides of Narrow Neck, which lives up to its name. Finally, quite near GZ, you have to leave the main trail and descend on a 'goat track' on a little plateau right to the cliff edge!
The cache is hidden back 2 metres from the sheer drop that gives the cache its name, and can be retrieved with reasonable safely, but this place isn't for acrophobics, to say the least! The geokids can stay safe up on the main trail while you do the cache pick-up, but even up there you'll find a few treacherous drop-offs. Always take care in all these places in the Blue Mountains.
Published coordinates were good and the cache was more or less where you'd expect it, in good condition and with dry contents. TNLNSL.
Many thanks to The Crazyheads for a third great Katoomba Narrow Neck geocache!
'Four Thumbs Up' for extraordinary views.

While on a MTB ride along Narrow Neck we thought we would find this one. Easy enough to find. It is in a spot with gorgeous views of megalong. Wonderful rock formations to see in the area, The flowers were all in bloom so it was a great time to go tho this area.

We tramped past the locked gate on this warm & muggy day. Although we don't care too much for fire trail bashing, at least along Narrow Neck one is frequently treated to some very fine views indeed. There was quite a bit of water on and alongside the road following the previous day's downpour. Also at one point, in the distance were visible a couple of nice looking waterfalls plunging off the eastern side of the Narrow Neck escarpment. It's not a long walk at all and we were soon at GZ doing the cache duties whilst taking in the great valley view before us. The flies were a little ordinary today so we tarried not. Made no swaps here. Fine cache.
So this was then my first attendance to a GCA FTF.
WOW what nice abrevations you can get with GC.
TFTC GZ was spot on and a few meters further means here a few hundred meters further down, if gravity works well after the edge...

Alpini
Forgot to mention there were really nice views down the edge.
Ah and thanks to rikki and tronador for going the extra mile today.
Thanks for that greta day and the fun we had...

A one year old unfound cache was too tempting to pass on, so Tronador, Alpini and I pressed on after completing Serendipity and Bush Bash 712. Any dirrection from Narrow Neck is going to give you great views, and this cache gave great views of Megalong Valley.
Tronador was FTF and I happily signed the log too.
It was great to be out with like minded people who enjoy a bit of adventure.

Well what can I say but another fantastic cache location. This has lain unfound for more than a year.
After walking out to Serendipity and Bush bash, rikki, alpini and I contemplated how much further this would be, the GPS said 1.7km .After conferring with the topo, we determined it was not that far at all, so off we set further yet again along Narrowneck.
Upon reaching GZ I was expecting a rather hairy retrieval after reading the earlier DNF log. But that was not to be. Looked for the cache, and within minutes I had the FTF. Feeling quite comfortable in these locations I didn't find this cache daunting at all, but I do understand the hesitation some may feel.
After doing the caching business, and admiring the views, the cache was returned and the walk back along the fire trail to the cars was completed.
Next stop a well deserved coffee at the Parakeet Cafe in Katoomba.
Thanks for the fun adventures today to my caching buddies.

The rating on this cache - are a little bit of an understatement - I got to the GZ and I looked for about 20 minutes until I was getting a good case of the heebie geebies and I got outta there.
I take my hat off to the brave (and certifiable) cachers who find this one.
