Logs
Staying on a night away at lemontymne lodge we decided to tackle a few caches in the area. We managed to find some and not some others.
We had a good time exploring areas that we wouldn’t have normally seen if not for caching.
Drove right up to within 20m of this one, got out of car and went to walk up to this one and the gps died, luckily I had it on my phone as a back up. The container was full of water and the note pad was that saturated that the pages were falling apart, had a spare bit of paper in the ute so replaced the log. TFTC

A huge thank you to the Hilberts for being so kind to replace the wet log. It's gepcachers like this who enable us to put out more geocaches for you all to enjoy as the task of maintenance becomes ever so hard.
So many thanks again guys...I appreciate it very much indeed.
Thanks for your find and hope you find heaps more caches on your travels...cheers sirius.

Took a while to find with no phone signal but got it in the end! Container was full of water so emptied and added a new log book and bag. Awesome spot - TFTC.

Drove Geojero as far as we could but lots of fallen trees now cover the track. After a short walk Mr T soon had cache in hand. A very interesting site that we would not have seen if not for Geocaching. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache.

We drove down Lake Gardiner Rd to the lake took a couple of tracks bush bashing passed a Private property sign, then thought we better stop and check the GPS. We doubled back to the main road kept going a little bit further then found our way to within 100m of GZ. Had a wander around the area, found the remanants of a fence that looked like that little steep bit was the mineshaft. Found the cache. Great area to look around and explore. TFTC

GPS was having a bad hair day, but after a little struggle we managed to find the cache. Interesting area. Thank you for the cache. Log book was wet and needs a new zip bag. Sorry we did not have one.
Interesting spot with old remains from an era past. Wet underfoot on the left track but worth the effort. Thanks sirius Tas for the cache.

Nice cache, really interesting spot although it’s a little difficult to tell what the remaining foundations were for exactly.
Had quite an interesting time rummaging around and exploring here and brought home some rocks with what we think is gold flecks in them. We don’t think we will be retiring on the profits, or melting it down to make jewellery, and I hope nobody comes along and tells us it’s just shiny dirt. We are happy with our little treasure trove.
Cache was easy to find. Thanks for providing an interesting location.

No 4WD so we had to walk
Not sure the hint was very helpful given the rather large rock pile, but as Razork said look for the obvious spot & there it was. Still bit damp, but have seen a lot worse! Thanks for bringing us here Sirius, we would never have stopped otherwise.

Drove to within a few metres of the cache as we had the 4WD cache camper with us this long weekend. Took some video footage around the old mill site. Took a guess as to where the cache was hiding and found it there.
Cache had lots of water in it but the log was only a little damp. Emptied the cache and dried as best we could before returning it to its hide.
TNLN, thanks sirius for showing us the area.

All I can say to this one is Thank God for 4WD. Drove almost all the way to the cache. Ended up with a 2 min walk. Swampy did his usually and while I was looking at my GPS he made a stab in the dark as to where it would be and as usual he was right.....one day he will be wrong...maybe?
Cache was wet so dried it out as best we could. Log was only a little damp so had survived well considering how much water was poured out of the actual container.
TFTC and for bringing us here

What sort of hint is this I thought surrounded by a pile of rocks and a Gpsr that would not settle. Easy just look for the obvious spot and bingo there it was. TNLN. TFTC!

The track leading to this cache had turned into something of a small, fast-flowing stream, but it was still traversable. We got to the first of the ruins and there was a moment of indecision; the path to the left looked very flooded, so my partner went on further up the hill to see if there was another way, while I wandered around the grassy remnants of the foundations wondering what they were originally used for and admiring the enormous ancient pine trees.
When my partner returned with confirmation that there was indeed a more sensible route, we headed that way and soon came to the ruins of the mill. Mysterious old hidden stuff in the bush. Yep, classic cache! Wandered around for awhile looking at things while my partner followed the GPS. Then I found the big pile of stones and went straight to the 'obvious Sirius spot', and uncovered the cache having only had to move one stone!
The cache was filled with water again. It had penetrated the first of the zip locks, but not the second. Seems to be a bit of a losing struggle with this type of container...
Anyway, it was another nice caching adventure. Thanks, Sirius!

Our arrival in the area was announced very loudly by three black cockatoos - presumeably parents and one offspring. After a brief walk we came across the ruins of an old mining processing mill and, after a brief search, we were able to locate the cache. As advised in the cache notes, we stayed on the defined paths/roads and did not do any bush bashing - consequently we didn't see any mine shafts and we were quite safe. We must now do some more research about the mining activity in the area. Thanks for bringing us to this area. TFTC
Sirius - the log was quite wet and the container full of water so we dried it all out in a tree while exploring and re-bagged it with new double zip locks. We also lifted it up a small amount as I think the hole it was sitting in was filling with water.
Another fantastic location. We spent ages here looking around and exploring. This is why we cache to find more places like this. One cache like this beats 100 drive bys any day.
Thanks for sharing another excellent location Sirius.

This is a fantastic and interesting location. There is a heap of history detailing the site on the net. Please be aware this is a disused mine site and could be dangerous to unattended kids.

Parked on the road as couldn't risk the hire car on the track, and had a nice walk in to GZ. Fascinating area to explore in a place that would only be found by us if geocaching. GPS playing up for some time, but eventually settled and found the right spot. Found a lovely hoard of huge mushrooms on the track, but sadly weren't in the position to pick and cook them. Thanks for bringing us here and the hunt sirius Tas.

Huge thank you tattsus for your maintenance...very much appreciated indeed....Cheers.
Great area for a cache. Mr tatts thoroughly enjoyed himself here. Cache had a lot of water in it and the log book was damp (luckily it was double bagged or else it would be soaked through), we emptied water and dried it out as best we could while we went exploring the surrounding area. TFTC and to taking us to yet another area we didn't know was there.
Nice to stretch the legs after driving up from Hobart.
Interesting place but I took heed to the signs and didnt wander (most unlike me to do as I'm told!)
GZ had me a little worried for a while because there were rocks in every direction I looked. Luckily I thought about it and knowing sirius doesn't just put caches anywhere I spotted a likely spot and woohoo there it was.
Thanks for the cache sirius

My kind of cache, ticks most of the boxes for me
Mine Ruins are a favorite!
Drove in as far as I felt I could (the road was a small stream and the ground quite soft.). Got about 100m from the cache, and we walked the rest of the way.
Explored the Ruins and eventually wandered over to GZ.
Found the cache pretty quickly after a few red herrings!
Thanks sirius, I've driven past here on the way to Rosebery HEAPS of times, each time wishing I'd allowed more time to go do this cache.
Thanks!

Camped at nearby Lake Gardiner many times and have explored these old mine sites. An easy find after bush bashing our way south. The cache is off the second track to the left not the first. Took Jeans for Genes badge and left Rivers tag on chain. TFTC.

So many rocks!
Turned a heap over then stood back and asked myself where I'd hide it.
Bingo!
