Description

A prehistoric rainforest.

This is one of a series of hides in and around the gateway to the outback.

This hide is at the remnants of a prehistoric 'gondwana'-type rainforest.

The cache is a camoflaged PVC container - Be careful - This part of the world is home to some deadly snakes.  When you find it, poke around it with a stick, just to be sure its safe.

There are a few treasures in the hide, trinkets, toys etc.

Good luck and happy hunting.

Logs

Certainly sounds like the area has cleared and the cache is missing, so we'll archive it. If the cache does re-appear the listing can be re-instated.

I didn't find anything at all here. The whole cache area has been cleaned up and cleared. There's nothing here.

Found with Gogo Go on our recent trip through the Simpson Desert. TFTC

Found after a short walk with Muggle Hubby in this most interesting area, on our way from Blackall to Roma after attending the five GC CHOGM Events.
Thanks for bringing us here, we’d never heard of this type of tree and seen it’s most distinctive bark.

We stopped in this area today for lunch then took a short walk to the cache.
The log has been signed by non-cachers and it's secure in the nearby stump. We replaced it here because it looked a good spot.
Thanks for this cache.

Found this one today making it more than 2.5 years since the last find. I approached from the wrong direction on foot ut realised that you can drive very close

It certainly is off the ground and in plain sight. I saw it as soon as I started out from the edge of the bush. The colour gives it away against the background. There are a few names of non geocachers and comments, all good. I am reasonably sure that had it been at the original co ordinates or close by on my last visit I am hoping I would have found it. Now I have a smiley on this one.

Parked on the road and Mr Beetle headed off to find this one. Came back to inform me that we could have driven into the site a bit further along the road. Last finder was a muggle and isn't it great when they just write a note and leave the cache unharmed. Thanks.

Dancing In company with gerrynewgirl I couldn't believe that this cache was just sitting there on the ground, and in excellent condition. It's a great camo container, and hopefully the new safe location will be easy for geocachers to find, but not so obvious to muggles. Perhpas the cache owner has gone quiet, but the cache is still well worth the look. Clapping

Cache appears to have been resurrected. New co-ords. New Hint. Enjoy.

Found this cache by accident as did a host of other cachers and non cachers who have been signing the log book. Have sent an email to the umpire to reinstate this cache as it is not in a National Park and is in good order. The cache has been relocated to S26 27.897 E147 37.808

Needs new hint "Its off the ground"

The cache looks like it's missing as does the owner who hasn't logged in in a substantial period of time.
We'll archive this listing, but if the owner can confirm the cache is in place or replaces the cache, this listing can be reactived by the owner by logging an "unarchived" log against it.

There is evidence of flood damage through out this area. A lot of flood debris has flowed across the area from west to east and is evident by the depth of debris up the trunks of the trees. All the trees around GZ have significant flood debris at their bases and could be dangerous to start pulling this apart due to potential dangers. this one has not been found or maintained in over 50 weeks and an email to the owner has received no response.
There has been a lot of rain and at least three floods in this area this year.

DNF for us today (Sunshine Toledo and Her Majesty); not where we looked. We stopped by the road first and walked in and searched with no luck; then drove in with commodore and caravan along the track to the park and searched again but still no luck. There are signs of lots of searching in the area as the ground was turned over in parts.

We were determined to find all 7 of the Mitchell GCA caches and this was our last. After coming up empty handed yesterday we dropped in on our way to Quilpie today. There is a tall tree at GZ but no matter how we widened the search we still had no luck.

Wow, a nice little park, kind of out of the way/yet right next to the highway. Their is a track around the park, (on the high side) with markers to identify the prehistoric trees. Only a short walk (maybe 100m in total).

The cache was well camouflaged, and I walked past it twice.
Logged in, thanks for the Spa Pass.

No luck for us with this one today Sad.

Without the help of the hint I searched and searched to no avail.

Might give it another go on the way out of town tomorrow.
