Description
To avoid muggles cache has been placed around 100m or so from a lovely secluded camping area with good fishing.
Can be accessed from either Scamander or St. Marys and well sign posted.
If driving through from St. Marys you'll also be able to see the devastation from last years bush fires. The intensity must have been enormous with the ground as bare as the gravel road.
On the bright side the eucalypts are copicing but will still take quite a few years to recover.
Cache is a black 500ml container with logbook, pencil and usual swaps.
Enjoy!

Wow, no find since September 2019 but the cache was found in excellent condition.
Finding how to get there wasn't quite so easy though. The GPS initially took us one way but we came to a track that looked too dodgy for our 4WD so we abandoned that way and after travelling through Scamander we found a sign indicating the reserve was about 10 kms away. Again our GPS led us astray and we definitely travelled a lot more kilometres than that before we arrived at the camp and then GZ.
But it was definitely worth the confusion getting there as this looks like a great campspot and we plan on returning one day to camp and kayak.
Thanks SIRIUS for bringing us to a new place.

wow what a drive in! The swaps bag was contaminated by some kind of goop so we removed it, maybe the next cacher could top it up? TFTC
Came camping here for the long weekend.... to do some orienteering, 4wding/exploring... even bought the kayaks to use!! Threw some grocaching into the mix and grabbed this one! TFTC
Found on our way to Snellens for some cache maintenance with Swampy.
a quick find today - i wonder why nobody comes here anymore. TFTC.

We camped with friends at the nearby reserve, which was great except for the resident flying insects. The reflections were amazing and conditions just about perfect for kayaking - just a pity DD didn't pack a proper camera! The cache was in good condition. It's a pity that more cachers don't visit this lovely spot.
We've visited this spot several times over the years but that was all in years BC (Before Caching). All is still good & dry at GZ. No campers today, though a van did roll in as we left. TFTC Sirius.
I rode my MTB 50km to find this, but had no luck.... I swear I was right on it. Maybe it has been taken or moved?
Beautiful part of the world!

While running a car rally I needed to come into the reserve to make sure people were aware of the road closure times.
I had a little time to quickly find the cache.

We came in from Scamander on a good gravel road - met a couple of caravans coming out, the owners having spent the night at the Trout Creek Reserve. The cache was a quick find but the lid had come off and the plastic bags (with their contents still secure inside) were scattered around. We assume that a grumpy animal had shown its displeasure. After signing the log we packed everything back into the container and hid it with ample leaf litter and sticks for covering. The Trout Creek Reserve is a lovely spot. There were two groups camping there when we arrived with fishing and boating being the main activities around lunchtime. TFTC Sirius - another great location.

Not a lot of activity about today but can see it would be a popular camping spot in the summer. Made a quick find thanks for bringing us here.

Hi Sirius
Had no idea that this place even existed, but will return to fish the area. Great spot!! Talked to a local fisherman for a short time and gained a little local knowledge. GPs was a little loco here for a while but managed a log at 1041hrs. Thanks for taking me to a place to which I had not sojourned before, the cache and the fun. Cheers OldSaint.

We followed the route in the 4WD TAS book and went over some goat track over the ridge top of some hills that turned out to be a 'fire break' road when we got to the other end. A perfectly good road could have got us there. Was in low 4WD going down the very loose and steep hills. Top spot and a group there were catching some nice bream of excellent size. This was our lunch stop today at 4:30 in the afternoon, still not out of daylight saving mode yet!

I decided to trust my GPSr's maps, and so instead of taking the longer and better built road I went up and over the hill along the firebreak. It was actually sufficiently road-like that it was easy for the geoSuby, and there were some nice views en route including some misty patches. The cache was a relatively easy find, and I was surprised to find that it was all nice and dry. Then it was time to go and actually see my reason for being here, since my route had bypassed the creek/river. It was very peaceful here, and there was a poor lone duckling paddling its little heart out and twittering furiously. An interesting place. Thanks sirius Tas.

Took the scenic drive to log this one but did not linger as there were fish to catch in the bay. Tnln Thanks Sirius

Very tranquil spot here today at the reserve. A few people camped with their fishing rods set up at the water waiting for the expecting fish to come along.
Found the cache a short time after leaving the water.
Thanks Sirius Tas

Hi redtag.....yep fishing is all ok here. Hey..whats with taking the scenic route...lol. Cheers
after a DNF in Scamander I decided that I would spend the rest of my day up the East Coast selecting caches that belonged to hiders that I was confident would suit the style of caching that I was wanting to do! So a 'sirius' cache was top of the list (followed closely by a Snuva one) but with a name 'Trout Creek Reserve' it didn't take me long to have a 'GO TO' happening on the GPS....only problem was the GPS took me the long way .... but as the saying goes 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'.... the 'Skyline Tier Scenic Lookout' was very picturesque (ok Sirius I can hear you saying "what did she go that way for??) I suspected I was wrong when the description said 'well signposted' and it didn't mention needing a 4WD (I hadn't seen a sign of any kind in over 14kms) but I stuck in there and the car (and myself) made it to the cache.
Once there it was no time before I had found the cache and the rod was out for the first time this trip.
Huge thanks Sirius, top Cache
...the thought just crossed my mind... does the word 'Reserve' mean NO FISHING???

Found this one easily!!
Camped at attached nearby co-ordinates. Tried some fishing but no success, we had some noisy muggle neighbours rock up (I think they scarred the fish away).

Gave the GPSr to CharlieRat to keep on slowly honing her caching skills.... she got within 5m of the cache before turning around and around in circles, until I got her to stop following the arrow and look around her
Found in the obvious spot.
I was impressed by the serenity at the campsite, we have bookmarked it as a place we will come back to in summer for a bit of an overnight stay.
Thanks for the cache!

Our GPS was leading us astray on this one. Spent ages searching and almost gave up until resorted to the "where would I hide it" method. TFTC. Reserve is a lovely spot.

Never trust a GPS to take you somewhere out in the bush.
Always use a map. Mine decided to take me on a rollercoaster ride along a firebreak!
Found the cache at around 9.15pm.
I have no idea what the area was like because it was dark.
TNLN then moved on to the end of the road and set up my swag and finally got dinner at 10.10pm.
Thanks siriusTas

A short break from work to find this cache. Lucky I did because some idiots had left a camp fire, at the reserve, burning.
Only saw one small fish but there appears to be possibilities for more substantial examples.
Thanks Sirius for the cache and the pleasure of a FTF. TNLN Sorry didn't have my swaps with me, remember I was supposed to be working.
