Lovely little walk this. Found in company with Tronador.

Altaire and I continued onto this cache today, our last one. I loved the walk through the old pine forest. The falls are very pretty. I found the cache out in the open exposed right where the hint said it would be. On opening the logbook we found it to be blank, so this is the cache replaced in 2017 but no entries in the logbook. We then noticed that 3 previous cachers had logged finds on this. Not sure what they found but no other names were in the logbook. All good with this cache.

Today we decided to tackle the Castra falls circuit and check out the waterfalls along the way. In places the track was steep and a challenge but persistence paid off and we were rewarded with finding all the caches and seeing all the magnificent waterfalls along the way.
Thanks for the series was well worth the walk. Clan Cerberus

The final cache of this circuit - and while the walk up the hill was a little dicy at times along the circuit, the walk down to this cache was just as slippery. Even so we were rewarded with a great sight of the falls and a nice cache.

A fantastic day was had today. After a hectic week at Agfest, we decided to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. We weren't overly sure what to expect on the track. Nevertheless we were committed. Wink From the start the track was a little slippery, other than that the track was what I expected. Further walking to this cache the scenery is amazing.

Unfortunately we did not find this one today. Crying or Very sad GPS reception was jumping all over the place so tried looking with the hint. Even with the hint searching in many areas, we did not succeed today. Clan Cerberus

Cache replaced after 2016 flooding.
Ready to roll...cheers.

These falls were very spekky today, suprised to see the size of them just a hop, skip and a jump from the road. Thanks to TipTopTas for the markers. Once at the bottom took a while to find as we concentrated on the wrong tree before rereading the hint which took us in the right direction.

A great location that we would never have come to but for caching. Thanks for showing us this spot and for the cache sirius.

What a lovely location. Had a little trouble identifying the track on the way in due to a couple of small fallen trees at the start but we followed along the line of the pines and were soon able to cut across to it.

Left a couple of piles of stones as markers for the next visitors. Just follow the fence down to the extra big post then look left and you will see the markers. Although even without them you would have to be trying pretty hard to get lost, especially if the water is roaring as it was for us.

TFTC sirius and another great day out.

I'll endeavor to tag the track with pink tape asap...Cheers.

OMG....what a flood that must have been. Since this event must be at least a 50 or 100 year flood then replacement cache in original hide should be ok for quite some time. The river below the cache has been totally cleansed of debris and now easier to access via track into river.

14-Feb-11
Sorry Deadolga....reckon you're right and the floods have washed away.
Will try and fix asap....many thanks...ST.

Found the pool, found the log but no cache. With the recent flood, the water had been up to the top of the bank and lots of logs and rocks had been moved. Possibility that the cache has been washed away.

Hi 2y'stassies...top effort on your 100th GCA cache this year...keep up the great work...Cheers.

17-May-10
The initial part of the walk along the fire trail was quite easy. The remaining 200m was along an unmarked path but this was quite easy to follow except for the deviations required for fallen trees. Once near GZ the GPS became very unreliable but the clue was a great help. After a short search, the cache was located and log signed. We hadn't realised the number of waterfalls in this area. There were very worthwhile visting today when only a small amount of water was flowing - imagine what the would be like after extended rainfall. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot. TFTC
PS This was our 100th Geocaching Australia find in Tasmania this year.

The track down to the falls is starting to get overgrown but still ok. Not a lot of water flowing but a nice cool spot on a hot day. TNLN Thanks

A huge thank you to Forthferalz and Hookline for replacing original cache....many thanks indeed...I owe you guys one.....Cheers.

Went on a trip with forthferalz to replace the cache, in between showers. Falls were spiffy, lots of water gushing over. Very wet and slippery around the base, and the original cache quite drowned. Hopefully the new container will fare a little better. It makes me happy to find these hidden secluded beautiful places out in the bush. Thanks!

Brilliant place - sensible hint. What a glorious, sunny still day and the view of snow on Black Bluff driving in was superb. After a short walk in the wrong spot - i parked at about 640m off cache which is the Silver falls/castra rivulet carpark. I walked there a few years back, thought about placing a cache here and never made it through the undergrowth along what used to be a loop walk to what is probably Step falls. Found the falls in fine form but path very overgrown and after following a few poor bits of blue string for 100m had to give up **fortunately** and decided to continue down the road where the description matched better right on a fenceline 400m from cache.

Dog and i crunched through frost and icy puddles with the promising roar of falling water to entice us. Then the terrain got steep but would still have been easy with the stick saved from the last stop but I had to carry a stoutly muscled dog over the large slippery logs at the end not trusting her to find her own way as usual. Earlier she had scented something and nose down, tail wagging worked up just enough of a trot to evade me, disappearing completely from view for a heart rending several minutes until I caught up with her - abandoning GPS and flinging myself headlong to grab her lead.

The falls were fabulous - and I think i know what the dog had been so excited about
(see pic)
Liked this one so much I brought it home Smile well just the logbook. Beetles noted it was wet back in March - now it was too wet to sign and mouldy but recoverable. Will return it with a spare cliplock to Sirius.

What a marvelous adventure we had. Lots to admire and chuckle about and a beaut location that one would have never have known was there. With the dirt washed out and twigs and leaves removed from tangles of hair we've gained some wonderful memories and some kids that have a new found admiration for fungi! Thanks sirius for a top cache

This cache has to be one of the great mysteries of caching, very pretty, a short walk, not too strenuous, easy driving distance and hardly ever visited...... Thanks Sirius for finding this almost cliché waterfall that we would have never found ourselves. The water tumbles over the spectacular rock escarpment into a deep pool that is surrounded by ferns and forest, just glorious.
The walk in was easy for the first 300m and then became a tad more challenging than indicated. We had invited the Tasowls along on this walk because of its rating etc and fortunately they are adventure owls because that is what they were about to receive. The narrow blazed trail follows the form work of a road down a slippery slope that is barricaded by a couple of slippery logs. The blazed trail then crosses across ferns, undergrowth and slippery decaying logs to the creek and the waterfall, just the sort of adventure that the CEyrettes adore. Cache was found, the waterfall admired, the fungi and ferns inspected and off we trekked back to the cars somewhat filthier than when we started.
The only thing that would make this cache more idyllic would be warm weather, a few cocktails to sip and some island music wafting through the trees. And no children.
Truly this is place worth revisiting, thanks Sirius.

After walking to the wrong waterfall first and realizing the co-ords were way out we backtracked and found the track to the one we needed. The track was very overgrown and slippery and in one place we had to crawl under a tree that had fallen across the track. So when we arrived at the cache we were very dirty. Just as well the waterfall and pond were worth all this hassle. We decided it would be a nice to visit in the summer and go for a swim. We took home dirty clothes and shoes and left nothing but thanks for the experience!!!! A well earnt find!

The first 300m walk is dead easy, after that its very tricky. Not sure if there is an easy I didnt find it nothing unusual about that.
The trek down was treacherous so coming back I went a different way possibly not a good idea. You could easily get lost here if it was not for the river as a constant reference. The rating are possibly a bit low and I would suggest not suitable for kids under12.
The reason for the cache is spectacular and makes the trek worth it. Will post some piccies. The cache well hidden but the hints are good. It had some water in it but the contents were fine.
If you like waterfalls put this one on your list soon.
Thanks Sirius

Nice little waterfall which we probably wouldn't have found otherwise. It was a wet day and we found the track in a bit slippery and overgrown, would be nice on a sunny day.

Another quality cache from Tassies most prolific placer this year.
Well worth the effort.
Only a 5 min walk to an amazing little waterfall.
Only regret is that I forgot to take camera along, so will have to revisit at some stage.
Where do you keep finding these little gems from Sirius?
Many thanks.
