Description

As we celebrate ANZAC, we remember the Fallen! LEST WE FORGET!

But often those that did return home underwent traumas that we just can't imagine

This cache is in honour of those that did return, lived out their lives and have gone on in PEACE.

May we never forget those that gave so much for our liberty, freedom and way of life:

Such men were M F Martin, J H George, H W Owen and G J Rubenach; the graves of all four, can be seen on the left hand side of the small road leading into the cemetery from the cache should you wish to walk it and take time to reflect.

As a tribute to all people, men and women who have taken part in any conflict, it would be appreciated if this cache be left unfound until Tuesday 25th April 2017, ANZAC Day

Cheers OldSaint.

We had planned one caching trip to Hobart and the Eastern Shore during The Christmas in July game. The ground kept shifting as new Trophy challenges were added so we needed to add more GA caches to out to find list. Not only did we need cache finds for Christmas in July, we needed a cache for a Frigid Solstice, 10 GA Dragon Zone caches for the 12th for the find 25 caches on each day of the month as well as 13 moveables that we need to move between 250 and 500km and a cache in the Sorell council area, we had found caches in Sorell before Dragon Zone but needed one after April 2014. Of course there were also unfound GC caches in the areas we were going to visit. All this meant our to find list was quite long and we were unlikely to manage to knock them all off today. We also needed a day that the weather Bureau forecast predicted would be mainly fine. July 12 looked like it.

We usually leave home quite early however with the threat of ice on sections of the Bass and Midlands highways we decided to head off just before 7:00. We did have the added complication of dosing our daughter's cat with its anti biotic pill. It only took one person to administer a pill to our last cat however daughter's cat, that is smaller definitely needs two people one to make sure the pill goes in and is swallowed and the second to firmly hold cat particularly her paws. After leaving our place we headed to daughter's abode where we were greeted by a nature strip strewn with her household garbage - today was bin day in her street. There was no bin in sight. It appeared that someone had tipped her bin out and stolen the bin. After dosing the cat we found a large bin bag, collected the scattered garbage and took it back to our place so that it could go out with ours tomorrow.

Off we headed again an hour later than we had intended. There was little likelihood of ice on the roads at this time even though there was quite thick frost on the road edges at Latrobe, Deloraine and Westbury. We turned off the Midlands Highway on to the Mud Walls Road and headed through Colebrook and Campania then on to Sorell and Midway Point. This was cache number twelve on our list.

It was starting to get chilly as we reached the car park so it was a quick dash up the track, wait for muggles to move on, retrieve cache container sign and replace log, recover container and off back to the car park.

Thanks Oldsaint for a cache in an area that it is always nice to visit.

Another cold night and I'm out with that crazy rat completing the penultimate day of my GC calendar. We both chose a GCA cache as well for the winter games. This one was my choice! After we found the GC out near MONA and SSRs GCA choice (10 kinds of people) it was my turn. We checked the main gate in case we could drive in but all the residents were locked in safely and we were locked out. We parked on the waterfront at Cornelian Bay and walked up the hill from there. Once at GZ it was a bit of a reach to grab the cache but I stretched and made it. The view across the river was stunning tonight, I've attached a fuzzy picture that doesn't do it justice. Note Mr Percvival and his mates in the photo.
Thanks OldSaint for another good cache and some more points.

We remembered my Dad with love on Anzac Day - he was a gunner in the Merchant Navy that guarded the convoys from Australia to England in WWII.
Some of our children joined us today for lunch and then to went to the cemetery and we remembered my Mum with love on Mothers Day (today). Thanks Old Saint.

Nice quick find while out walking the bay

We took a walk round the Cornelian bay cemetery while we were waiting for some muggles to move off that were overlooking GZ

Thanks for the cache old Saint

OldSaint Thanks for the cache.

Both of my boys have served in the defence services here and over seas so ANZAC Day is special to me.

It was nice to find the log book empty and be able to get a *FTF*.

After finding the cache I walked 50m to where my Mum is resting. although there is a tree in the way she is watching the cache for you.

Found at 6:51am
