Logs
Did find this one (it was lying on the ground next to it's hidey hole). However it is in a bad state. Log book saturated. Cache container cracked. We just put it back where we're pretty sure it was meant to be (matched the hint). Alas we didn't have a replacement cache & log book with us today but happy to replace it next time we do this walk (if required).
Set out to do the caches along Dooleys Trail with Goose&Egg and Stainless steel rat, a beautiful area and worth a visit but not for the faint hearted if you do the entire trail at once I left a scout behind in all the caches that were big enough. Found this one past the best river crossing of the entire walk, the map nearby helped us to replan the rest of our walk given it was starting to get a bit late in the day and everyone was getting tired. tftc
We did a bit of a detour to grab this one after making a dry river crossing and this was the point where we bottled out and went with the shortest route back to the car, its been a big day and we wanted to get back to the car before it started to get dark.
The cache was found in good condition and we added our names to the log, but it was back the way we came for us.
Its been a great day pushing us to work harder than we had planned but we will all enjoy looking back at this day with fond memories for the rest of our lives, my thanks has to go out to the CO's of the caches we found today since it must take an amazing amount of work to keep these caches going.

This was out last Dooleys cache (and second last overall) for they day. We were exhausted by now and nearly out of water. We enjoyed this river crossing as we could leave our shoes on and keep dry. We crossed twice, over to get the cache and then back again through the hippy camp and onto Williams Wilmot Wandering#4 before calling it quits. DHT#3 was found quickly and in good condition.
Sirius Tas, thank you so much for our huge adventure. It was definitely tougher than we had ever imagined but we survived The worse injury was a sprained wrist from a fall. Yeah we all had scratches, blisters, and sore muscles but they soon sort themselves out.
We were only discussing last weekend at 2y's tassies event that we will need to return soon to do the ones we ran out of time and puff........

We have had this cache, another and the Williams Wilmot Wandering series on our radar for some time but, with one thing or another, we hadn't got there. We made a firm decision to tackle them earlier this week, then the weather became too hot - we are not hot weather walkers. So, with the cool change over night, we set off this morning. We found "Lucy's Track" quite quickly and went down the zigs ans zags along to the river. Once down in the river valley it was a truely wonderful walk. We were sheltered from the winds, it was warm with a cool breeze and the scenery was magnificent. As we wandered along the Wilmot River up to Ellis Flats, we were entertained by many birds (the black cockatoos were particularly noisy today)and a range of animals in the scrub - heard many but saw a few. We also saw a couple of quite big black snakes - we kept our distance and so did they. As well as a great experience (one of the best caching experiences we have had), we were very pleased that we didn't see one piece of rubbish. Great to see that people respect the area. Initially we didn't see the East Ellis Crossing and crossed the river at a low point and scrambled up the bank on the other side (where we saw one of the snakes). We then got onto what we later learnt was the Ellis Crossing Track which took us up to the Dooley Trail. Accurate coordinates defined the search area and, with the hint, a relatively quick find was made. The container and contents were in good condition. We then went back along teh Ellis Crossing track, across the "stepping stones" and had lunch at the table at Ellis Flats. TFTC Sirius Tas and for bringing us on this really great walk. Now we have to work out the best strategy to get to Dooleys Heritage Trail #4.
We had a wonderful New Years Day walk Sirius!
Our path was from the car park above the bridge, onto the Lucy track, 2 hours to the picnic ground. Then across the river to the Dooley Track, and on to the cache.
(NB - for other phone users, there is NO reception up here - I can advise you of an Android App that allows you to keep the caches "off-line")
Anyway, back to the cache --- I thought it would all be fab, easy to find - I remembered the hint at GZ ... It turned out to be one on the longest searches but we were successful!!!!
Signed, swore and sweated our way back along the western (Dooley) trail and crossed at Shoestring Crossing. A total time of 4 hours!
A great day - thanks so much for the cache, bringing us even further up this great river.

Found while doing the other caches in the area.very hot walk today.Think i nearly stopped the flow in the river from my drink stops. Came face to face with a couple of snakes on the tracks which raised the heart rate a bit higher. Then everthing looked like a snake.First timer on these tracks and enjoyed them heaps.Had a good laugh at the outside dunny on the lucy track.Cheers and thanks for now (etrexer)
Found while completing the Williams Wilmot Wandering series. Our GPS told us that this cache was 100 metres away but on the other side of the river, not to be deterred Mr T found a safe place to cross the river and soon had cache in hand. The cache was in great condition and a quick find. TFTC

Walked the 25km track from Spellmans Bridge to Alma Bridge with the guy that has done most of the work to make this track available. With the river still high, we had to ford the river once which was shin deep. This crossing is necessary as he was unable to get permission from the land owner to walk on the other side of the river. By doing the walk this way, it was easier to find the last section of the track that traverses open paddocks and a road walk. Found this cache while having a short stop.
Came to this one off River Road to Payne Creek. Few steep little pinches on the track to the cache. Helpful clue made this a quick find. Thanks Sirius for this series. It's taken a long time to complete it seeing it's so close to home.

A lovely river walk starting from Alma bridge making this a most pleasant day out. Thanks Sirius

The track start for this cache and that of Dooleys # 4 are the same as for Dooleys # 2...but you could access the cache from off Forestry Roads off Swamp Road, Castra.
There should be maps at the start of Jamiesons Road...and at various points along the route....maybe they've gone???
The route in from Ellis Flats Road is only an emergency access only as it goes through private property....so please don't use....as you will be trespassing.

Found in company with Hookline - which is just as well as FF's have given up twice previously trying to find the start of this walk. Truly frightful directions for the Wilmot trail online and on the ground really discouraging 'keepout' signs. No hint from the roadside as to where this trail might be lurking and I still have absolutely no idea where 3dg parked despite him sending me track log!!! we came in on something that had a locked gate across it and a boring walk up hill and down dale, over more locked gates to get the the track - which it appears starts to the right before more of the 'private keep out sort of signage'.
Afraid this tedium spoiled what was otherwise a very pleasant walk - I couldn't manage the slog up and down to #4 and backup again so I turned back although it appears I might have been able to skip the return over the big hill if we had had better track information at the time.

Picked up forthferalz and headed to Dooleys #3 for a nice day of bushwalking, intending to do #3 and #4 in the same trip. After reading previous logs on the series, wondered how difficult this was going to be. Hard to put it into context or work out what is meant until you're actually there...
In any case, we managed to find the correct road in (came in from Knight's Rd). Parked in front of the intimidating private property sign and headed right up the hill. Road led to another private property "Wilderness Valley Retreat" or some such, and there was some initial doubt as to whether we were supposed to pass through here... then backtracked and found the pink tape. Shortly some more pink tape branched off in a puzzling direction, but we chose the easiest-looking of the trails, which turned out to be the right one.
Ate some lunch at the peaceful picnic shelter (geez, the thistles are taking over here!!), then off to find the cache. Nice walk beside the river, no problems crossing as the water was quite low. Some hunting at GZ waiting for GPS to settle, then cache was found. First in the series for hookline! Then it was off to Dooleys #4.

Went in with No 2 daughter.
From where we parked we had the cache in hand within 30mins.
Lovely area down by the stepping stones.
Then off to Dooleys 4.

Borrowed a car and dog, and headed for the NW!!! Have been busting to do this one since it was published and I loved it. The history attached to the track is so interesting and the work in upgrading it as well as the signs and maps en route are really good. The FTF was going begging and it was a beautiful day. T supa glue, L fridge magnet. Thanks sirius tas.
