Description

Another spot for a selfie

Near GZ there is a museum dedicated to Mad Max 2 and a GC cache to find. Not being a Mad Max devotee it is interesting to see the impact the filming of Mad Max 2 has had on the region.  While we were in the town, two full tour buses arrived and people emerged for a walk around the town and to have lunch at the Silverton Hotel.

A virtual GCA cache, Silverton Challenge is also available to complete, plus more GC caches nearby within a few kilometres.

Stop by to view the amazing collection at the museum if a devoted fan (fees apply and set opening hours). Otherwise just wander around checking out the scenery. I personally liked the donkeys that were next to the Silverton Hotel, not sure if donkeys were in Mad Max though, and Ned Kelly at the local gallery standing guard.

To log a claim, please take a photo of yourself or a member of your team near GZ or near some interesting memorabilia in Silverton.

Who would have thought some of the best eateries would be in Silverton? We spent a great day looking and eating around the town. A very popular place is the Mad Max Museum. We loved the movies, clearly so did a lot of others. TFTV whitewebbs.

#GA5824 - 1:12:00 PM: Day four of a road trip taking the long way to Adelaide from the National Capital with the geohoney. Spent the night in Broken Hill, and after grabbing brunch, we set off to Silverton for some sightseeing, collecting a few caches in and around the town, before heading back. Grabbed a snap after a visit to the Mad Max Museum. TFTC whitewebbs Very HappyClan Cerberus

Out and about caching and taking photos for the day. Does it get any better than travelling this great land of ours? Staying a couple of nights in Broken Hill as I head towards Qld. AS I travel by myself and I am reluctant to take selfies, I will just have to prove my visit though photographs of the area Wink
What a beautiful and historic area to take a stroll (and quite a few photos). Really enjoy looking around Silverton. Been here a couple of times over the years. A GCA - Yet another excuse to visit.
Thanks for the Virtual Cache whitewebbs. Clapping

West New South Wales trip 2020. Day 5. I was joined by MinnieK and Fitzy_1965 for a trip planned to go from
Goulburn to Forbes, Nyngen, Cobar, Broken Hill, Wentworth and Balranald. This was our second day around
Broken Hill. We spent the day at Silverton. Caching and doing the Dream Time Mine Tour. We found a few good
hills, and plenty of interesting places to visit.

There are so many good things to visit around town, I chose the enrty sign with the three very different icons on it.

Thanks

Found It!
Took a photo here after finding the nearby GC cache. Was a little early in the day for the museum, it was still closed. There were two donkeys in the middle of the road just down the street though. Not really sure why...

While staying in Broken Hill we returned to this iconic town and tried for a few of the caches. We enjoyed a very nice lunch at the local establishment and were delighted to see donkeys, camels and brumbies.
We opted to include a photo of Geohubby at one of the remnants of the nearby Umberumberka Silver Mine.

Many thanks for a great virtual WHITEWEBBS ClappingDancing

Spent longer in Silverton than we intended because there's so much to see. Indeed, we probably enjoyed Silverton more than Broken Hill, it's so good.

Today we went for a drive to Singleton. What an amazing place. Such a tiny town with so much history and photo opportunities. Took this pic of MrGt54 outside the Mad Max museum. As there are no there log entries we will claim **FTF** for this cache. Thanks Whitewebbs for the cache.
