Description

Oompa-Lumpas

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a 1964 children's book written by Roald Dahl, with a sequel Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator released in 1972. A third book in the series was never completed. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been made into 2 movies, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) starring Gene Wilder, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) starring Johnny Depp. They are both favourite films in my household. I'm sure we all know the story about the 5 Golden Tickets and the tour of the factory - as well as the interesting characters and of course the Oompa-Loomps and their quirky songs.

The Oompa-Lumpas - saved from their horrible homeland by Willy Wonka and then enslaved employed in his Chocolate Factory. In the 1971 version they were played by various Dwarves, some of whom couldn't speak English. In the 2005 version they are all played by the one actor - Deep Roy. The DVD for the 2005 version has a 'making of' extra all about how he filmed hundreds of different takes for each scene !

This series of caches plays homage to the ultimate fantasy - owning your own Chocolate Factory - and the final reward for this series is just that! There are three sets of six Traditional Caches, each with a clue to the seconds of a Mystery Cache. Find the three Mystery Caches, and you unlock the key to the final Mystery Cache - The Chocolate Factory !

This set contains the following:

Trad - GA10132 - Mike Teevee - with the value of N

Trad - GA10133 - Mr and Mrs Teevee - with the value of P

Trad - GA10134 - Arthur Slugworth - with the value of Q

Trad - GA10135 - The Great Glass Elevator - with the value of R

After the FTF adventure on Spring Hill this morning at sunrise, I still had some time before I was expected back at home - better not get back too early and wake them Smile. So I did a number of GC and GCA caches along Nanima Road whih I had missed on earlier trips.
Thank you for this big series Fitzy! A great effort. I very much enjoyed my morning joy ride out here. Most of the caches are still in good shape, a few are waterlogged and I will try to mention them here at the end if that is the case.
This one was in a nice hiding spot but somehow still the container starts being brittle.

I was with the CO when this series was put out. Now I have my own GCA account I have been given permission to log them.

The new film is my favourite.

Enjoyed this series that kept us on our toes collecting clues and collating them right to the end. Even though a couple were missing we still managed to work out the mysteries.

Many thanks Fitzy_1965for publishing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience.

Out by myself today as Joolay is back at work, so decided to come back and finish this seeries. Unfortunately the first one was missing and I had already done 3,4,5 and 6 but I had lost the the required information so had to do them again. It was good to gather the required information from this cache and apply it to the given formula which enabled me to find the mystery caches. TFTC Fitzy_1965. Great series. Found with Kittykatch and Darzee Di working the SoN game. The game makes it much more fun. I liked this puzzle series. A puzzle within a puzzle.

So we found this puzzle after working our way along the road, gathering the clues for GZ. We headed back to the car to work out The Chocolate Factory only to find we were missing some information. It was easy to pick up the clue from this cache, but had to make our way back to the other two 'puzzle finals' to gather info for the final puzzle. It was a beaut day to be out caching though I am sure I am covered in spiderwebs, grass seeds and burrs. Cheers Fitzy Smile

Having gathered all the clues and put the numbers together, as instructed we had a set of feasible coordinates so set off in search of the Oompa_Lumpas.

We arrived in the vacinity of GZ for Oompa_Lumpa cache and were dismayed to find a steady streamo of very fast moving traffic. It was several minutes efore a break in the traffic allowed us to cross over. The carefully hidden cache was soon located and the log signed. We collected the information we needed to locate the Chocolate Factory.

The container and contents were in good condition.

It was now time to head back to the car and piece together ythe data we had that would hopefully help us locate the chocolate factory.

Thanks for this cache Fitzy_1965 we have certainly enjoyed this experience and appreciate the effort you put into constructing this series for your fellow cachers to enjoy.

I haven't done many GCA caches, so this trail was an incentive. Started at the highway and followed the trail in order. All caches found OK. Still a little wet on the roadsides, but with care it was OK. Not covered, so a quick find.

Thanks for the series.

With no rain as per the forecast, I decided to head out this way after checking out a few element caches.
Hence I started this series from the northern end and did have to add a few extra kilometres to complete them all, but a very pleasant drive in the country. I even got to have a chat with Just a Cacher and Black Bunny during my travels, so an added bonus.
Thanks Fitzy_65 for the fun and the cache.

Out today with Just a cacher to grab this series and make the most of a pleasant day. Most caches were a quick park and grab after finding a suitable spot to park and all caches were nice and dry after the rain of yesterday. Bumped into Boot65 while on the series run and had a quick chat before heading our separate ways.

Thanks for the series fitzy_165 ad our vote is for the Gene Wilder version.

Off for another short foray into the world of pain and misery (caching). Weather was much better today, though, and we stopped to eat our lunch at an oval where there was a soccer game going on. Nice to have a floor show.

Thanks for putting these out, FITZY_1965! It was a pleasant drive and fun to find them. We even ran into (not literally) Boot65, whilst we were out and about.

#GA1707 - 16:05; On a beautiful Canberra afternoon, I headed out for my third attempt to complete this series and I'm pleased to say that today, I made it to the end of this interestingly themed series. Completed the required calculations after I'd gathered the last piece of the puzzle and headed for GZ. Spotted a likely looking hide on the approach, but couldn't park safely as close as I'd have liked. Didn't have too far to go though and not long after I had the nice sized cache in hand and my name on the log sheet. TFTC fitzy_1965 Very HappyClan Cerberus

After finding the last 6 caches, I had all the clues for this one and soon had the GZ sorted. Arrived at the GZ and after short search the cache was in hand. Thought the FTF would still be in play, but was happy to see the blank log all the same.

Grabbed the final clues for the Chocolate Factory and once that was in the GPSr, it was time to head off for it.

Thanks again fitzy....
