Description

Have you looked for and find Trig Points (also known as a Trigonometric Station) on Geocaching Australia?    If so, how many have you managed to find and claim?

If you've managed to find and claim 150 of them, well here is an extra cache for you to go and find as a reward for all those hikes up those hills.    Simply head on out and make the find and then log a find here.    Just remember you must have found at least 150 Trigs.    I'm sure you know where to look to check if you found 150, but just in case.

From the main page of geocachingaustralia.com.au :

  • Click on 'Menu' on the top right hand corner,
  • Click on 'Statistics,
  • Click on  'Statistics - Graphs of Cachers' View Now,

From there select the following from the drop down boxes:

  • Geocaching Australia Only
  • All
  • Cachers by Finds Trigpoints

(Note: Checking the statistics in this manner will include any Trig Points you may have found in NZ)

Once you've checked the stats to see how many Trig Points you have found, and if you qualify, you can head out to find and log this cache.

A few tips to help you enjoy the walk:

  • Allow 2 hours.   You can walk to the summit and back in less time, but you have to find the caches, and maybe check the views along the way and certainly from the top,
  • Park at these parking co-ords, S35 22.790 E149 04.620
  • Find the caches in the numbered sequence,
  • Follow the trail to the summit of Mt Taylor.   The caches will be off the trail 20-40 metres.    After you find the cache, head back to trail the same way.   This way you wont miss any.

I will check claims against this reward, and even though I can't delete your log, I can name and shame you on the page....so please, don't log this cache until you have reached the required number of finds.

Have fun...while you find yourself a few more smilies........

I signed the cache in 2019 on an outing with a group. I'd forgotten all about these until I was looking at Mt Taylor from a trig in Fisher. Yay - a couple of bonus shots in the current Battleship game.

It was a warm and fun filled day when we as a group tackled Mt Taylor which included Fitzy, MinnieK, Gliss, Aykayam and Tankengine. It nearly killed me actually but it was a good day. Went up the top and over and back down. I forgot to log these so writing a note now and back dating and will check which ones I qualify for.

Found with minniek, fitzy_196, joolay, tankengine and aykayem. I'm sure I don't qualify ... YET! Smile

GCA 2,655. Found during a meander up Mount Taylor today with minniek and a bunch of others.

Having done all but one of the (obvious) caches up here my main aim was to finish the Trig Reward Caches. All were found with no problems and they are in good condition.

As of today I have 562 Trigs.

Quick find here. I qualify with over 200 trigs at present.

After a bit of a scramble off the track, I circled around till I spotted a familiar looking container. Last cache in the series for me today, as I need a few more trigs to make it to 200. It will be nice to walk past these ones next time and get further along in the series. Great to be out walking in this lovely area today - thanks again SDL Smile

This one took me awhile to find. TFTC Sol de lune.

After finding 250 caches decided to knock off some of the ones in this series. This was easier to spot in the distance than close by. After doing this one kept high off the walking track and walked cross country to the 200 one.

The last of the hanging caches. When you know this, they are easy to spot from a distance. Anything to take a few seconds off the trek.

After a short time back on the path Mrs y'tassie was glad to leave the path to make the climb to this cache. As she approached from below she spotted the well hidden cahe and was surprised to see how it disappeared when see moved her head side ways. As she is somewhat height challenged she did have to stand on tippy toes to reach this one. Container and contents were in excellent condition.

After replacing the container and moving off she looked back and was unable to see the cache in the foliage - a great hide.

She decided to head cross country to the next in the series.

With over 500 trig finds we qualify to log this cache.

Thanks for another well placed cache Sol De Lune.

#GA1711 - 14:30; I saw this series published a couple of days ago and decided that I should get out there and give it a try as I now qualified for all 10 of the challenges after a recent caching mission to the NT and back with the CO where we collected more than 100 trigs for the trip across five states and territories which brought my total trig finds to 554. Parked the geomobile in a familiar spot and set off up the hill. Once I was under the trees, the GPSr took a bit to settle, but the hint left me in no doubt where to locate the cache. After making the find, My glasses came off and I spent the next five minutes on hands and knees before I found them again Think and headed off for the next one on the list.
