Description

Have you looked for and find Trig Points (also known as a Trigonometric Station) on Geocaching Australia?    If so, how many have you managed to find and claim?

If you've managed to find and claim 200 of them, well here is an extra cache for you to go and find as a reward for all those hikes up those hills.    Simply head on out and make the find and then log a find here.    Just remember you must have found at least 200 Trigs.    I'm sure you know where to look to check if you found 200, but just in case.

From the main page of geocachingaustralia.com.au :

  • Click on 'Menu' on the top right hand corner,
  • Click on 'Statistics,
  • Click on  'Statistics - Graphs of Cachers' View Now,

From there select the following from the drop down boxes:

  • Geocaching Australia Only
  • All
  • Cachers by Finds Trigpoints

(Note: Checking the statistics in this manner will include any Trig Points you may have found in NZ)

Once you've checked the stats to see how many Trig Points you have found, and if you qualify, you can head out to find and log this cache.

A few tips to help you enjoy the walk:

  • Allow 2 hours.   You can walk to the summit and back in less time, but you have to find the caches, and maybe check the views along the way and certainly from the top,
  • Park at these parking co-ords, S35 22.790 E149 04.620
  • Find the caches in the numbered sequence,
  • Follow the trail to the summit of Mt Taylor.   The caches will be off the trail 20-40 metres.    After you find the cache, head back to trail the same way.   This way you wont miss any.

I will check claims against this reward, and even though I can't delete your log, I can name and shame you on the page....so please, don't log this cache until you have reached the required number of finds.

Have fun...while you find yourself a few more smilies........

It was a warm and fun filled day when we as a group tackled Mt Taylor which included Fitzy, MinnieK, Gliss, Aykayam and Tankengine. It nearly killed me actually but it was a good day. Went up the top and over and back down. I forgot to log these so writing a note now and back dating and will check which ones I qualify for.

Found with minniek, fitzy_196, joolay, tankengine and aykayem. I'm sure I don't qualify ... YET! Smile

Hint made for a quick find.

GCA 2,656. Found during a meander up Mount Taylor today with minniek and a bunch of others.

Having done all but one of the (obvious) caches up here my main aim was to finish the Trig Reward Caches. All were found with no problems and they are in good condition.

As of today I have 562 Trigs.

Flailed about a bit, but then read the hint. Quick find then. Coordinates spot on. My Garmin was sitting at 0 metres. TFTC Sol de lune.

I made my way to this cache above the track from the 150 cache, following a few animal tracks. Cache found easily, thanks.

This one involved a bit of a hill climb. The way up was not easy, as I did not see the trail. Of course, once the cache was found, the trail down was obvious. This happens often. Surely there should be a name for this phenomenon.

As she came cross country Mrs y'stassie approached from above and saw a possible hide which, on closer inspection revealed yet another well hidden box. Again container and contents were in very good condition.

After signing the log and replacing the cache she sat and enjoyed the area which had similarities to some places where she had previously found older style trigs where the vanes were mounted on rock cairns. There were plenty of droppings indicating that kangaroo, wallaby and rabbits pass through the area there were no sightings today.

With over 500 trig point finds we qualify to log a find on this cache.

Thanks for another challenging hide Sol De Lune.

#GA1712 - 14:45; I saw this series published a couple of days ago and decided that I should get out there and give it a try as I now qualified for all 10 of the challenges after a recent caching mission to the NT and back with the CO where we collected more than 100 trigs for the trip across five states and territories which brought my total trig finds to 554. Parked the geomobile in a familiar spot and set off up the hill. The GPSr again took a bit to settle and once it did, I homed in on a likely spot. No joy, so referred to the hint but again my hunt didn't bring me any joy. Checked the hint again and realised I'd missed a key word. After that it was all systems go and once I had the cache in hand, found my first blank log for the mission for a *FTF*. TFTC Sol de lune Very HappyClan Cerberus
