Description

The amazing Boeing 747

I love to Travel, and I love to Fly. I have been very lucky to have traveled a lot around the world for both work and pleasure. A lot of those flights have been on Boeing aircraft. A lot of the overseas flights have been on the famous 747 "Jumbo Jet" - in all 3 classes I might add !

Research some data on the 747 (hint hint Wikipedia) to find this Mystery Cache at South 35 1A.BC1 East 149 1D.EF6. The cache is CLEARLY NOT at the posted coords !!

First Flight : BA February 1C6C

Introduction (PAN AM) : DD January 197E

As at January 201F, the 747 has been involved in 60 Hull Losses (what the ??), resulting in 3F22 fatalities (ouch).

Operated by QANTAS of course !

BYO Pen.

Happy Hunting.

I needed a few things today, fuel and a Regular sized cache. Since this redwood forest has been re-opened and the cache has been maintained, I decided to give it a go. A small music group were having some images taken right at the car park, but that did not stop me walking across to today's caches. The trees have been heavily pruned, but seem in pretty poor condition. I hope this rain gives them a chance to get growing again. I was not able to locate three of these today.

Thanks

I tried several trees, but no success. may have not been digging deep enough.

saw a fox when I looked up, but it slinked away, before I could get the camera ready.

Logging as found with CO permission.

I've been in a fair few 747s...

Had to drive to Queanbeyan to get parts for the car and stopped off at a few places to get my exercise for the day, a couple short hikes from Queanbeyan to get some GCs and a nice hike in Redwood forest to collect mostly GCAs.

Quick find among the needle leaves, coords are good and made it straight forward.

The puzzle has become a tiny bit harder than what was intended originally as there have been more accidents since Smile a bit more googling and some educated guess gave the final F away.

Thanks for the cache fitzy!

This was next on my excursion around this area today while 'killing time' before this evening's long haul south. Another quick find at 14:45 and it was on to the next one.

Found this cache on the way to, at or on the way home from the Mega at Clearwaters. My trip to the Mega was great, found lab caches which while like gadgets are new icons to me. Found some great caches and brought back some neat ideas for new caches in Tasmania.

Day 4 Mega Road trip. Arrived at Queanbeyan today for the Clear Waters Mega and headed out to find a few caches in the Pialligo Redwood Forest with Tassie Trekkers and Gullivers Travels54. A lovely area to explore. Enjoyed solving the puzzles. Wow the planes seemed very close above the highway as we headed here. TFTP

Found today with Smittengranny out chasing the summer game. Love this area. And I have been here before but they are some hidden gems in this little forest. Its such a shame they are becomming so distressed. Found some lovely little grotto's and cool shady walks. Great little series

After finding the traditionals in this series yesterday we realised there were several mystery/puzzle caches also. Last night while sitting in our motel room we solved the three of them and decided to locate them prior to the event that brought us to town.
This was the first of the three and was found very quickly, only to realise that we had walked past it yesterday.
Thanks for the hide fitzy_1965.

A beautiful, but cool second day of Spring. Near windless conditions contrasted sharply with yesterday. I headed off to the airport today & grabbed a few caches while I was in the area. All quiet, apart from the planes, in most locations, being father's day & all. No DNFs today.

I've been on a few of these before, but not so common these days.

Thanks

We first visited this park some years ago and were pleased when we saw a number of new caches published there recently. We cannot remember the heights of the redwood trees when we last visited but wondered today if the redwoods liked the area and the climate. We know that redwoods are very slow growing but they did not appear to be thriving. Hopefully we are wrong as this is a unique reserve. We walked an approximate circular route looking for eleven caches and we managed to find them all. We enjoyed the Boeing series of caches, learning a little about the differences between the various models. The research to collect the data for this puzzle was straightforward. Accurate coordinates and a familiar style of hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks fitzy_1965 for the puzzle, cache and the series.

Found 3:21pm with my girlfriend, fourth find for the day. I had been out here in this area previously.
We pretty much knew what we were to expect given the other caches found. Nice little history lesson when researching, not sure about flying 747's anymore though now. A quick find, cords are pretty good.
Thanks for the cache.

We had some spare time today so decided to grab some of the caches in the park. We had a nice stroll although it was a little wet underfoot in the far corner.

Thanks for the caches fitzy_1965

Decided to head out and take a lovely stroll around this neck of the woods.......again. I had the place to myself apart from a rascally rabbit or two. A very pleasant stroll and no dramas locating my targets.
Thanks Fitzy_65 for the cache, the fun and the stats on the planes while some were creating some noise pollution in the distance.

#GA1683 - 13:45; An unexpected opportunity to go caching presented itself while I was out and about with the geohoney. She wanted some time in the city to shop, so I decided to head out to Redwood Park, which wasn't far from the drop off point, to give the CO's new series a try. Dropped Sol de lune a line in case he was already in the area. He wasn't, but changed plans and we met up to tackle the new caches in the area. It was such an impromptu mission, we had to load the coordinates for all of the caches into our GPSrs as neither of us had run an update to capture the new caches before leaving home. Once that was done, we collected the moveable then headed off on a clockwise circuit of the park caching as we went. The description for this puzzle is a bit morbid, but I have seen Air Crash Investigations shows on the TV which have accounted for a few of the 'hull' losses mentioned. No losses in hunting for the cache though and again greeted by a blank log and another joint *FTF*. TFTC fitzy_1965 Very HappyClan Cerberus

Was heading towards the Barton Highway to finish off the series out that way when LuckyL10n rang and suggested a run around this park to grab the new ones here. So my plans changed and I was off to visited the Redwood Forest again. Once at the park we headed off on a walk around the area grabbing the caches as we went. Had solved the mystery caches earlier so it all was good and we had the area covered and all the caches found.

Thanks fitzy.....neat area for the well named caches.....
