Description

The Amazing Boeing 707

I love to Travel, and I love to Fly. I have been very lucky to have traveled a lot around the world for both work and pleasure. Some of those early flights have been on the famous Boeing 707 !

Operated by QANTAS of course - but all phased out of service ! I recently saw one at the QANTAS Founders Museum at Longreach QLD. And of course John Travolta owns an ex-QANTAS 707 !

My last flight on one was on a RAAF aircraft.

BYO Pen.

Happy Hunting.

What can I say this park is heavy going finding caches – nice park but the caches were like a needle in a hay stake – many thanks

this is the second time I looked for this. but no success. a lot of gardening and pruning has happened recently-ish.

The area is pretty much under water and my feet again are wet...

Logging this as found with permission of the CO.

Caught up with GLISS! today after she braved her jab. Impressed she was still up for some caching! I haven’t been down to this interesting little redwood forest before. I look forward to exploring it as we work our way through the caches. Now to see if I can find those blasted mines in battleship! Thanks for the cache.

This area has experienced firstly fire in 2020 and then recently a massive cleanup. We came prepared with lots of sistemas to replace any that had gone missing. We went to 5 GCA GZs - 1 container was in place, another was empty and scattered near GZ and the others were replaced. This one was replaced. TFTC

Had to drive to Queanbeyan to get parts for the car and stopped off at a few places to get my exercise for the day, a couple short hikes from Queanbeyan to get some GCs and a nice hike in Redwood forest to collect mostly GCAs.

I searched for quite a while, went in between to find the one close by - there the spoiler picture was key!! There are just too many trees here and the GPS is jumpy. The hint sounded specific and good- made me hopeful but I searched all those forks thoroughly with all their thick needle piles and couldn't find it.

Thanks for the cache fitzy!

I didn't find this one. Sad

This was another one one I'd had a shot at a few minutes ago without success using Xiānshēng Huawei but at least the Upoj reboot was able to get me back on track. Once at GZ, I was soon signing the log at 15:50. Very Happy

TNLNSL. Thanks fitzy_1965.

Thanks for placing this series fitzy_1965, well themed for the area and it's not everyday you see a redwood forest right beside an airport.

Found today with Smittengranny out chasing the summer game. Love this area. And I have been here before but they are some hidden gems in this little forest. Its such a shame they are becomming so distressed. Found some lovely little grotto's and cool shady walks. Great little series

We arrived in town to attend the GC event tomorrow and checked into our accommodation. We looked at the maps and decided to head to this area to locate the caches that were in this park and close by.
This was the first of the afternoon and Mr Shifter located this one while Mrs Shifter looked for the other one that was nearby.
Both were found quickly.
Thanks for the hide fitzy_1965.

What a surprising little plantation! A great little collection of caches here. TFTC Very Happy

I actually found this one while looking for a nearby cache. The GPS reception around here was very poor.

We first visited this park some years ago and were pleased when we saw a number of new caches published there recently. We cannot remember the heights of the redwood trees when we last visited but wondered today if the redwoods liked the area and the climate. We know that redwoods are very slow growing but they did not appear to be thriving. Hopefully we are wrong as this is a unique reserve. We walked an approximate circular route looking for eleven caches and we managed to find them all. We enjoyed the Boeing series of caches, learning a little about the differences between the various models. Accurate coordinates and a familiar style of hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks fitzy_1965 for the cache and the series.

Found 4:01pm with my girlfriend, ninth find for the day. Decided to make our way around in an anti-clockwise approach. I had been out here in this area previously and found a couple but I didn't have all the information readily available to look for the other caches around here and then only discovered a bit before leaving how many GA caches were in the area. By that time as well my iPhone GPS battery was pretty much flat so gave it a miss that day to come back another.
Today armed with all the cache coords, and I worked out those related puzzle caches, we came back. When we found this we pretty much knew what we were to expect for the other caches. The area could use a couple of park / picnic benches. A quick find, cords are pretty good.
Thanks for the cache.

We came to the redwood forest for some caches on this warm, sunny Canberra afternoon. initially, Goldenwattle and I divided our search between two nearby caches. The trees were playing games with our GPS and we couldn't find anything. We swapped over and found the other cache instantly! Brick Wall Thanks for the caches Fitzy-1965

Decrypter went to search for one cache here and I searched for the nearby cache. Neither of us could find the cache we were searching for. Then we swapped over and both found the other cache almost instantly Rolling EyesDoh. TFTC fitzy_1965.

I have revised my drive into Canberra so I can pick up these caches over the next week or so.

I love this little forest, even have a cache of my own out here. Today I targeted Boeing 707 for my daily. Quick find at GZ. Getting back out into traffic is fun though !!

Thanks !

We had some spare time today so decided to grab some of the caches in the park. We had a nice stroll although it was a little wet underfoot in the far corner.

A nice sunny Sunday morning to wander through the redwood forest finding caches. Some problems with looking in the wrong tree due to bad signal, but found okay by looking in the surrounding ones. Thanks for this enjoyable series of caches.

Visiting Canberra this weekend for a grand daughters birthday I was looking for a D/T of 2.5/2 to complete my 3x3 grid. One of five finds in this park this morning all with the same rating. thanks for placing.

Before some shopping I went for a short walk around this forest. As usual the trees make the final finds a bit of a challenge, but I managed the five traditional caches today.

Thanks

Decided to head out and take a lovely stroll around this neck of the woods.......again. I had the place to myself apart from a rascally rabbit or two. A very pleasant stroll and no dramas locating my targets.
Thanks Fitzy_65 for the cache, the fun and the stats on the planes while some were creating some noise pollution in the distance.

#GA1678 - 13:20; An unexpected opportunity to go caching presented itself while I was out and about with the geohoney. She wanted some time in the city to shop, so I decided to head out to Redwood Park, which wasn't far from the drop off point, to give the CO's new series a try. Dropped Sol de lune a line in case he was already in the area. He wasn't, but changed plans and we met up to tackle the new caches in the area. It was such an impromptu mission, we had to load the coordinates for all of the caches into our GPSrs as neither of us had run an update to capture the new caches before leaving home. Once that was done, we collected the moveable then headed off on a clockwise circuit of the park caching as we went. On arrival at GZ the cache was soon spotted and a blank log signed for a joint *FTF*. TFTC fitzy_1965 Very HappyClan Cerberus

Was heading towards the Barton Highway to finish off the series out that way when LuckyL10n rang and suggested a run around this park to grab the new ones here. So my plans changed and I was off to visited the Redwood Forest again. Once at the park we headed off on a walk around the area grabbing the caches as we went. Had solved the mystery caches earlier so it all was good and we had the area covered and all the caches found.

Thanks fitzy.....neat area for the well named caches.....
