Description

The Amazing Boeing 717

I love to Travel, and I love to Fly. I have been very lucky to have traveled a lot around the world for both work and pleasure. Recently nearly all of my flights have been short haul between Canberra and Sydney on the famous Boeing 717 ! The 717 was originally the McDonnell Douglas MD-95, but was re-badged when the two companies joined.

Operated by QANTAS of course - and certainly better than flying on a DASH-8 !

BYO Pen.

Happy Hunting.

Had to drive to Queanbeyan to get parts for the car and stopped off at a few places to get my exercise for the day, a couple short hikes from Queanbeyan to get some GCs and a nice hike in Redwood forest to collect mostly GCAs.

Quick find under the rocks, coords are good and made it straight forward. I wonder when this tree will fall over....

Thanks for the cache fitzy!

Being in and around Canberra for a special event which is happening Saturday afternoon meant I had a free morning. Because of this, I decided on collecting some more caches focusing this time on regular/large size containers and solved puzzles. But before I did that I started with ‘The Walker’ WIG around the lake (This makes 2/3 found now). Unlike yesterday, I did struggle with the cartridge but after the 2 hours(ish) ride around with plenty of rests, I got the right coordinates: THANKFULLY. A lot easier ride then yesterday. I then headed back out to Queanbeyan near to where I am staying and collecting more of the caches around which fit into the categories above. Tonight, I may go back out and collect some more around the area. TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found, for allowing them to bring joy to me and to the rest of the caching community. Big Grin TFTE and TFTC’s Big Grin

Found this cache on the way to, at or on the way home from the Mega at Clearwaters. My trip to the Mega was great, found lab caches which while like gadgets are new icons to me. Found some great caches and brought back some neat ideas for new caches in Tasmania.

The plantation is full of kids' forts. Check out the gruesome collection of bones in the fort near this cache!

I decided to use these convenient caches to fill in a few days of my streak.

Its only a short detour on the way in to Canberra and work. Parked in the familiar car park for the short walk to GZ and the find.

Thanks !

We first visited this park some years ago and were pleased when we saw a number of new caches published there recently. We cannot remember the heights of the redwood trees when we last visited but wondered today if the redwoods liked the area and the climate. We know that redwoods are very slow growing but they did not appear to be thriving. Hopefully we are wrong as this is a unique reserve. We walked an approximate circular route looking for eleven caches and we managed to find them all. We enjoyed the Boeing series of caches, learning a little about the differences between the various models. Accurate coordinates and a familiar style of hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks fitzy_1965 for the cache and the series.

Found 3:54pm with my girlfriend, eighth find for the day. Decided to make our way around in an anti-clockwise approach. I had been out here in this area previously and found a couple but I didn't have all the information readily available to look for the other caches around here and then only discovered a bit before leaving how many GA caches were in the area. By that time as well my iPhone GPS battery was pretty much flat so gave it a miss that day to come back another.
Today armed with all the cache coords, and I worked out those related puzzle caches, we came back. When we found this we pretty much knew what we were to expect for the other caches. The area could use a couple of park / picnic benches. A quick find, cords are pretty good.
Thanks for the cache.

A nice sunny Sunday morning to wander through the redwood forest finding caches. Some problems with looking in the wrong tree due to bad signal, but found okay by looking in the surrounding ones. Thanks for this enjoyable series of caches.

Visiting Canberra this weekend for a grand daughters birthday I was looking for a D/T of 2.5/2 to complete my 3x3 grid. One of five finds in this park this morning all with the same rating. thanks for placing.

Before some shopping I went for a short walk around this forest. As usual the trees make the final finds a bit of a challenge, but I managed the five traditional caches today.

Thanks

Decided to head out and take a lovely stroll around this neck of the woods.......again. I had the place to myself apart from a rascally rabbit or two. A very pleasant stroll and no dramas locating my targets.
Thanks Fitzy_65 for the cache, the fun and the stats on the planes while some were creating some noise pollution in the distance.

#GA1679 - 13:25; An unexpected opportunity to go caching presented itself while I was out and about with the geohoney. She wanted some time in the city to shop, so I decided to head out to Redwood Park, which wasn't far from the drop off point, to give the CO's new series a try. Dropped Sol de lune a line in case he was already in the area. He wasn't, but changed plans and we met up to tackle the new caches in the area. It was such an impromptu mission, we had to load the coordinates for all of the caches into our GPSrs as neither of us had run an update to capture the new caches before leaving home. Once that was done, we collected the moveable then headed off on a clockwise circuit of the park caching as we went. Another quick find, another blank log signed for another joint *FTF* Dancing . Was heading towards the Barton Highway to finish off the series out that way when LuckyL10n rang and suggested a run around this park to grab the new ones here. So my plans changed and I was off to visited the Redwood Forest again. Once at the park we headed off on a walk around the area grabbing the caches as we went. Had solved the mystery caches earlier so it all was good and we had the area covered and all the caches found.

Thanks fitzy.....neat area for the well named caches.....
