Today we decided to tackle the Castra falls circuit and check out the waterfalls along the way. In places the track was steep and a challenge but persistence paid off and we were rewarded with finding all the caches and seeing all the magnificent waterfalls along the way.
Thanks for the series was well worth the walk. Clan Cerberus

A fantastic day was had today. After a hectic week at Agfest, we decided to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. We weren't overly sure what to expect on the track. Nevertheless we were committed. Wink From the start the track was a little slippery, other than that the track was what I expected. Further walking to this cache the scenery is amazing. Cache was found, signed and returned. Mighty effort by 2y'stassies on completing this quite slippery circuit and netting not only a well deserved FTF on this particular cache but the other 3 caches as well...well done.

After taking the obligatory photos at Silver Falls we headed out on the Castra Falls Circuit track. We found ourselves walking along beside the Nietta Creek which was flowing swiftly. This is such a pretty area. We soon started to notice the range of fungi growing on the dead logs and in the forest floor debris.

Taking fungi photos slowed our progress but it did not worry us as the day was still fine if slightly cloudy. There were a few ups and downs and some significantly slipper sections while we were walking mainly along the side of the creek. As we approached GZ our old walking friends, the Black Cockatoos started haranguing us from the trees. We could see where they had attacked some to the dead tree trunks looking for grubs and the forest floor in this section was littered with fragments of the tips of the new growth of the myrtles and wattles.

We found one old uprooted stump that was a very odd blend of colours and mottling. We were not sure what caused this but it was obviously a product of the decomposition process.

As we approached the hide area our GPS was indicating we were still 35m away when we spotted the object mentioned in the hint. A short search produced a small cache container with a blank log sheet giving us our second {FTF} at 11:00. After replacing the container we checked the GPSs - one read 3m and the other 1m - so you really need to let your GPS settle before searching or us the hint.

Thanks for this second cache in the Castra Falls Circuit series. We hadn't walked this section before as we found Silver then walked out and when we found "Just a Step down" we went in from the other end of the circuit track. A very enjoyable walk.
