Description
Grass Valley is a small townsite 13 kilometres (8 mi) east of Northam.
The town is named after a local property of the same name that was established in 1833 by William Nairn.
The Northam to Kalgoorlie - Eastern Goldfields Railway line passed through the town and included a crossing loop. The railway was built through the area in 1894. Land was set aside for a townsite in 1898 and the town was gazetted in the same year.
The surrounding areas produce wheat and other cereal crops. During its heyday of the 1950s–90s the town's local farmers were the largest producers of chaff (feed for racehorses) in Western Australia. The product was sought after by buyers throughout Western Australia as well as Asia and the Middle East. The town was a receival site for Cooperative Bulk Handling and had a Type B structure in the 1970s. The post office within the town is reputed to be the smallest in Australia. The town also has an excellent tavern dating back to the golden days of the once-important rail head. The town is situated on the Golden Pipeline heritage trail. The pipeline passes through Grass Valley.
At the turn of the century Grass Valley became an important centre for the farmers in the district. The railway siding serviced the hay and chaff industry which had developed on the local farms. The first licensee of the hotel was Timothy O’Driscoll. An agricultural hall, a school, and later a post office and foundry were established in the area. The advent of the motor car and the resulting mobility led to the decline of settlements like Gras Valley. The tavern services a small community of approx 450 people.
You will discover the quaint Grass Valley post office and please respect it. You DO NOT need to search the post office for the cache.

I actually thought this one may have been difficult but walked right up to it and had it in hand in a second. TFTC
Stopped by here on my way home from Kalgoorlie. Hit the road shortly after sunrise, into a forecast 37C day, finding a total 19 caches; 15 of these being dragonZone thus earning "Ides of March" trophy; with two FTF Trig's.
A big shout out to all the CO's whose caches we found, the Wheatbelt was once again a fantastic place to visit and the weather was on our side with the temps maxing out at only 38 degrees.
This was our first cache of the day and we were pleased to be 2TF!!
Took a while to find then I read the discription . Made a quike find.
