Description
Cache hidden near the thinest part of South Arm
This cache is hidden near the car park from where you can access the South and North sides of the arm.
The reserve contains a large area of tidal sand flats which support an inter-tidal ecosystem with associated shallow sediments, microalgae and invertebrates. The area also provides important habitat for shorebirds that feed along the shoreline and tidal flats; including sandpipers and species such as pied oystercatchers (Haematopus longirostris) and red-capped plovers (Charadrius ruficapillus).
If you choose to walk 30 meters South along the path you can view both sides of the arm, on a good day the views are amazing.

Logs
Looked and looked for this one between the numerous muggles coming and going from the area.
Mr Beetle was ready to give up but I went back to the van and looked the cache details up again to see if I could get anything to help from the logs.
With no find for 118 weeks we weren't hopeful, but went back for another look of what we now knew was a well camouflaged container.
Perseverance paid off and we did find it.
Thanks, a nice hide and those cammo clues really made the difference in the end.

Caching in the area today on a rare free day in the south of the state. Made a quick find with accurate coordinates and the hint after initially overshooting the turnoff. Love the cammo. TFTC
#GA2845 - 16:45; After a busy day caching my way from Devonport through to Hobart yesterday, it was time today to catch up with a few friends. A long lunch was followed by a drive down to Opossum Bay to have a look at the old house and to collect a couple of the local caches. Stopped off for this one and enjoyed a nice quick find. I suggested to the family we take a picnic lunch down to the beach, not this one but a more sheltered one a little further on. We stopped in here on the way down but it was like BWS on New Year's Eve so we turned around and drove out. After our picnic and swim (not me ) we grabbed an ice cream and headed back here to try again. There was one guy loading a surfboard in a car then he went back to the beach leaving it safe so I pounced. I signed the log quickly back at the car, so I didn't get caught and then replaced it carefully. We were out of there within a couple of minutes.

I've lost count of the number of times I've driven along this road, and I've never noticed this turnoff to the beach....thanks for putting a cache here SSR, now I know it's here. Hopped out of the car with the GeoGSP and it wasn't long before the cache was in hand...nice cammo. After signing the log and putting everything back in it's place we headed to the beach for a little walk - wow, we are so lucky to have these amazing beaches with amazing views and beautiful clean air to breathe! Thanks again for this cache!

After finishing our commitments in Kingston we were able to make a relatively early start on our trip home. After a detour to find the cache on the new Alum Cliffs path we headed to the narrowest part of South Arm to look for this cache.
There were several cars in the car park but no one in them so we were able to search unhindered. Our GPSs wanted us in the middle of some thickish scrub so we resorted to checking the hint which took us to a well camo'ed container exactly where the hint said it would be. Container and contents were in excellent condition. Our GPSs indicated we were 8m from GZ.
We replaced the cache and were heading for the car when a combi load of muggles pulled into the car park - time to head to Cape Deslacs Nature Reserve.
Thanks for the cache Stainless-Steel-Rat we enjoyed our brief visit to the area.

At GZ we had no luck with our initial 5 minute search so we then resorted to reading the additional hint which of course resulted in a quick find – nice work on the cammo. Thanks for placing a cache here SSR.

Hello Stainless-Steel-Rat thanks for the cache.
When this cache of your first got published I thought about going and trying to get a FTF, but the warmth of the house was calling so I stayed home (still haven’t thawed out from my last FTF effot), just as well as whitewebbs were off and running and found it well before I could have.
Today at a leisurely pace I did found it. It did take a little bit of time to find as I wasn’t expecting this type of cameoed cache.
After finding the cache I then went for a walk to the top of the dune and had a look along the beach as the weather was great so was the view. Which wasn’t the case the other night as whitewebbs indicated in there log.

Hi whitewebbs
After loosing another friend to that insidious disease cancer yesterday, today I needed to get out and hunt plastic, as my head was swimming - too much thinking!!!
Started by driving from Huonville to WP1 for GA10384 where I calculated the info and then went on to find it and GA10384 before travelling to Cape Deslacs to find four caches here.
The car park only had one other car parked in it!! Its driver and passengers were no-where to be seen!
Arrived at GZ and made a very quick find
The cache was Sainted at 1544hrs.
Lots of memories here: surfing the waves and surf fishing for Australian Salmon!
From here, it was on to visit some caching mates in Howrah - enjoyed the visit immensely.
Total km covered today was 6.99km which had me use 9335 steps using 1629cals.
TFTC and cheers

FTF @ 9.42 pm. A nicely cammoed cache. Headed out in the cold (frost alarm came on) 3 degrees to nab this new cache 6 klms from home. No view tonight. A bit of fog. No aurora tonight. Some nights it can be quite eerie driving south. Deserves a favourite. TFTC
