Description

All you need to access the log is at the cache.

This gadget cache is located on a previous section of the New England Highway, now the scenic backroad loop of Barleyfields Road. A deviation in 1980 eliminated this section containing the railway crossing and narrow viaduct. Hard now to imagine this narrow winding road was once part of the highway.

In July 1982 the nearby dam was the scene of a reenactment of the bushranger Thunderbolt's last day. Chased by Constable Walker, 'Thunderbolt' had to swim across the dam. In a heavy coat on a Uralla July day, this was quite a feat!

Don't feel intimidated that the cache is attached to private property, the owner is fully aware of it.

There's parking for normal size vehicles at the side of the road or at the gate.

Congratulations karsen - FTF

We pulled up near GZ and started looking at a nearby feature and then noticed the cache hide. We have seen one like this before so it didn't take too long to extract the log and sign it.
Thanks geono.

Approaching this I was wondering about the name. Holy hell, this wasn't much fun in the rain. Nah, honestly it really was fun. Had me smiling non-stop once I got momentum. Council workers were earning their wages driving up and down the road over and over again. No doubt they were wondering what the hell I was up to. haha.

And now it's the fun time of writing all the logs (or copying and pasting them to be entirely honest) whilst having a bite to eat and a local pale ale at the Top Pub. Still waiting for the meal. Beer is good though.

#GA5201 - 13:50; Day 11 of a road trip with Sol de lune for the CacheQLD - Dayboro Mega and we are now headed for home. After spending the night in Glen Innes, we headed south caching our way through Ben Lomond, Guyra and Armidale. Approaching Uralla we collected the new geoart series and made this our last stop as we headed towards the town and lunch. After a bit of head scratching we spotted the TOTT and worked our way up to a find. The log container seems to be a bit UV challenged and may need some TLC, but we were pleased to add our names to the logsheet. Recommend this one for the entertainment value after our initial assessment led us to think we may have needed a centipede to help us! TFTC geono. Very HappyClan Cerberus

Arrived at GZ after getting into a $10 lunch special at Thunderbolts Inn...great value and good food.

As for the cache, well, my first though was how are we going to do this....looks like a lot of hands required. LuckyL10n then has an idea...and then we found the tools...ok that makes a bit of sense. So after a bit of work LL soon had the cache in hand and we signed the log.

Nice one geono....something different yet again. Recommended.

A great idea with finding the cache an exercise in patience. Tools of the trade not in best nick but did the job. Had thoughts of driving to Locheed Martin but doubt I'd find that image. Left 3 moveables across the road. Thanks.

After leaving Tamworth, we are now in Uralla and did a bit of caching around town with Tassie Trekkers. We had GCA caches on our list and GEONO caches. This was a great cache. TFTGC

I've just realised that I have not logged this cache! Sorry, my bad! After many failed attempts I finally realised I was looking in totally the wrong direction. I did not know how to use co-ordinated and did not have a GPS. But as I rode past one afternoon on the motorbike, low and behold there it was! Zigged and Zagged and managed to sign the log no worries Wink

Well this was a bit of fun. Very HappyClapping
Finding the hide was easy enough but finding the ‘tools’ to get the cache out took a bit longer. Very Happy (If they had teeth they could’ve bitten our toes Wink )
Then we set to work. Slowly... slowly, oops. Very Happy Perseverance paid off. Was a lot of fun retrieving this one.
Two visitors in 2 days!!! Wonderful! Clapping
Thanks for another beaut cache in Uralla.

I didn't get a chance to get this cache last time I was in town, so it was top of the list today. We pulled up to a very familiar GZ and found the part of the cache we should have worked for laying on the ground. Maybe an animal got at it and left it there. So we didn't have too much trouble with this one. We reset the gadget ready for the next finder. A great little challenge in a nice part of the world. My first GCA gadget cache find! Thanks Geono!

Huge thanks to Pa who agreed to chauffeur me around a 100 kms circuit starting in and ending in Uralla today. Passed by this one on our way to Sat Trak but called in to grab it on our way back. An easy find not so easy a retrieve but eventually my name was added to the log and the cache returned to its hidey hole. TFTC SL

Day three of our trip south to the Mega and left Armidale bright and early. Parked closed and walked over and when I saw this I had to go back to the car and retrieve my bag of caching tricks. I have found similar ones to this and I soon had the container in hand. TFTC GEONO Clan MinotaurVery Happy
