Description
Cache is a black bison tube with log only, so please bring your own ink stick.
The cache is placed at the start of the track which takes you to Paloona dam that has other geocaches along the way.
The cache is near where a picnic table and shelter used to be. The area is still recovering from the 2016 floods but is still a nice quiet spot for a picnic or to drop a line.
Enjoy!
Hearty congrats to 2y'stassies for FTF...well done.

Tried for this one 18months ago, but had recently disappeared.
Back today, and we nabbed this one on our walk back from the dam.
Nice location.
Hi sirius Tas, and thanks for the cache, found with AlbyDangles on a caching weekend based at Gowrie Park, after transporting some Venturer Scouts to their statewide 'Venture' at Arm River Camp last night.
Thanks for the adventure.
Cheers, EPs.

Tackled the Dooley track today with DEZ055. What an amazing walk. We did this in two stages, starting at Spellmans bridge and walking as far as we could before turning back to the vehicle and driving to the end on River Rd off Swamp rd to continue the track from there to the north. We decided to head to Dooleys trail #1 to grab along with a couple of others whilst we were there. This being one of them.
Another quick find on the track. TFTC

We needed to find some caches to get us on the board for the October games so we sat down and worked out a plan of caches that we would target.
This cache was the second find for the day, after walking to ground zero the cache was quickly spotted and the log was signed and off we went. TFTC

This geocache appears to be MIA so to stop it clogging the search lists we'll archive it. This is done to keep the Geocaching Australia clean and up to date.
If the owner can confirm it is in place the listing can be resurrected by placing an "unarchived" log against it.

This cache has been now disabled for longer than 90 days.
Unfortunately, the cache will be archived in 28 days if the listing is not re-enabled. This is done to keep the Geocaching Australia database clean and up to date.
We hope the cache can be re-enabled so that cachers can head out to find the cacheā¦.and enjoy a visit to the area.

Shelter has been removed...along with the cache.
Will resurrect in near future.

Located this whilst checking out the access points for the network of tracks along the Wilmot river. No one around allowing for a quick find.
Found this cache and returned it to its location as a family approached to use the seat.
TFTC.
Took the longer way to walk to this cache, and then it took me quite a while to actually find cache.
Found this cache on a 2 day trip to the NW, covering over 1000 kms and finding around 100 caches of both GCA and GC

While we were out and about caching in the North West of Tasmania with Tassie Trekkers we stopped and parked near the gate and walked up the road to the shelter and located the cache. A pretty spot.
Sorry about the lengthy logs. We are currently aiming for a virtual verbosity trophy. TFTC
We are currently participating in the States of the Nation games running from 16 December 2017 until 21 January 2018.
States of the Nation is a real and virtual geocaching scavenger hunt where your home state will compete against other Australian states to find and hide geocaches. Over the 5 week course of the game there will be hundreds of scavenges that you can track down, find and convert into points for your state. Some scavenges will be easy. Some scavenges will be tough. Some scavenges may be impossible. Don't despair. You are not competing just for yourself; you are competing as a state.
There will be a number of scavenges released on a weekly basis but each scavenge will remain until the end of the game. This means even if you decide to join the game part way through, the early scavenges are still available for you to claim. Scavenges will require you to find a geocache, hide a geocache, attend an event or do something else completely different. The game focuses on all aspects of geocaching and so all cache types, sizes, terrain and difficulty will be up for scavenging. TrigPoints, Events, History, Virtual, Webcam, Podcache and Locationless geocaches are all scavengable, so you're not just looking for a box under a bush. Each week there will be a mix of physical, non-physical and locationless geocaches so even if you are not in a geocache rich area, use the locationless component of scavenger series to get out, find something to log and gain points for your state. If you watch the scavenges as they are released you might also spot the 'not so hidden' patterns and plan for future weeks of the series.
Hiding geocaches will also be a large part of the scavenger series, but please remember this is a game of geocaching and geocaches that you hide should be long lasting, be of good quality and you should be proud of what you hide. Please avoid hiding a geocache just for the day so your state can find it before you archive it. Geocaches that exist for a short period of time may result in any claims on that geocache being disqualified. Play creatively, but also play fairly. More geocachers hiding more geocaches makes for more geocaching fun.

Out and about with whitewebbs for a day of caching down the coast. Good weather and company made for a great day of caching. Made a quick find once at GZ. Cache and contents in excellent condition.

Hi Sirius
Left home, Huonville, this morning in the dark; travelled as far as Ulverstone and returned in the dark - left at 0530hrs and returned home at 2200hrs. A round trip comprising 772 kilometres including visits to Kindred, Turners Beach, West Ulverstone and Spreyton.
Weather: Wet at Huonville at 0530hrs, raining to Oatlands and then fine weather on the North West Coast for the day until I left and got back to Oatlands where it was humming down. Rained on and off from there to Huonville.
Having found one cache on Don Heads, my plan was to find as many as possible of the TasStats series as possible.
The puzzles had been solved some time ago, but this was virtually the first chance I have had to come North West in some time.
So far in that series, I've found six with just one to find - so on the way to look for it, I thought I might as well try to find some caches along the way. This was the closest to the one I had just found.
Parked at the gate and walked to the picnic area. Flooding of the river previously was very obvious. There were even some burnt pieces of wood on the table to be served. Searched all around and finally found the cache in the last place I looked. Should have started on that corner not the opposite one.
I Sainted the cache at 1207hrs.
After putting the cache back in place, memories of the walks along the track flooded back - most enjoyable.
Remember coming down here to fish way back when teaching in Devonport. LOVE THE SPOT! Thanks for bringing me back
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.

A quick find while caching in the area. Most of the caches we had on our hitlist today were puzzles in the Ulverstone Turners Beach area but always good to mix it up a bit. This would be a lovely area in the warmer weather but a very cool breeze today. TFTC
Grabbed this one today at a place we visit at least three times a week. Dogs love this track and since it was repaired after last year's floods it is an easy one to ride and give them a good work out. Plus it is only a few kilometres from home.
Although not as nice a spot since the floods it is still a place we frequent for other reasons as well, to fish, kayak and swim in the summer.
We were away when the floods devastated the area last winter but have seen water to the roof of the shelter in the past.
An easy find. Thanks.

It was time to pick up a few more caches to fill vacant spots on various GA trophy challenges. We headed off through Forth where large farm machinery moving between Harvest Moon's farms and home base made the journey quite slow until we reached the turn off to Wilmot Road. We hadn't been out this way since the floods of June 2016 and were amazed of how these had changed the river bed and how much vegetation had been washed away.
We left the car at the gate to the picnic area and walked in. Again there was much visual evidence that the flood had been through. A large chunk has been washed out of the river bank opposite GZ and many of the large river side trees have a large proportion of their root balls exposed. The shingle bank is now much wider than it had been pre flood.
A close inspection of the structures at GZ revealed a well disguised container. The local inhabitants have started to incorporate it into their constructions and it will probably become difficult to find if not visited regularly.
Container and contents were in excellent condition and the log was blank giving us a {FTF} at 14:30.
Thanks for another good cache Sirius Tas.
