I needed a few things today, fuel and a Regular sized cache. Since this redwood forest has been re-opened and the cache has been maintained, I decided to give it a go. A small music group were having some images taken right at the car park, but that did not stop me walking across to today's caches. The trees have been heavily pruned, but seem in pretty poor condition. I hope this rain gives them a chance to get growing again. I was not able to locate three of these today.

Thanks

there has been a big clean up of this area, everything is mowed and the bottoms of the trees have been trimmed vigorously.
there are 3 possibilities
a) my maths and navigation are shite
b) I didn't did deep enough in the debris
c) the cache has been cleaned up as well.

after a check with the CO, I am logging this as found.

Caught up with GLISS! today after she braved her jab. Impressed she was still up for some caching! I haven’t been down to this interesting little redwood forest before. I look forward to exploring it as we work our way through the caches. A fun little puzzle to get us on our way with this one. Now to see if I can find those blasted mines in battleship! Thanks for the cache.

This area has experienced firstly fire in 2020 and then recently a massive cleanup. We came prepared with lots of sistemas to replace any that had gone missing. We went to 5 GCA GZs - 1 container was in place, another was empty and scattered near GZ and the others were replaced. This one was scattered near gz and has been put back in place. TFTC

Had to drive to Queanbeyan to get parts for the car and stopped off at a few places to get my exercise for the day, a couple short hikes from Queanbeyan to get some GCs and a nice hike in Redwood forest to collect mostly GCAs.

Quick find among the needle leaves, coords are good and made it straight forward. Lucky that a glimpse of the giant box was looking through the leaves but it is so big, one would have found it anyhow.

Thanks for the cache fitzy!

With work finished for the day/week Dancing, it was time to grab a few of the ones in this area before the long haul home. This was first and not long after arriving at GZ, I was logging the find at 14:40.

Found this cache on the way to, at or on the way home from the Mega at Clearwaters. My trip to the Mega was great, found lab caches which while like gadgets are new icons to me. Found some great caches and brought back some neat ideas for new caches in Tasmania.

Day 4 Mega Road trip. Arrived at Queanbeyan today for the Clear Waters Mega and headed out to find a few caches in the Pialligo Redwood Forest with Tassie Trekkers and Gullivers Travels54. A lovely area to explore. Enjoyed solving the puzzle. Wow the planes seemed very close above the highway as we headed here. TFTP

We had found all the caches in the area that were on our hit list (only traditionals in the GPSr) and then we looked at the GACacher app and realised there was a puzzle at the car. We had parked directly in front of the sign so we sat in the car and solved the puzzle. Mrs Shifter then left Mr Shifter in the car and walked into an area of the park we had not been to in search of the other caches. We didn't expect such a large container here. The well concealed cache was locate quite quickly due to good coordinates. The cache is in good condition.
Thanks for the hide Fitzy_1965.

A beautiful, but cool second day of Spring. Near windless conditions contrasted sharply with yesterday. I headed off to the airport today & grabbed a few caches while I was in the area. All quiet, apart from the planes, in most locations, being father's day & all. No DNFs today.

I used GCBuddy for this one, although it is a bit of a pain to get GA caches loaded. Still, it eliminates the arithmetic errors.

Thanks

We first visited this park some years ago and were pleased when we saw a number of new caches published there recently. We cannot remember the heights of the redwood trees when we last visited but wondered today if the redwoods liked the area and the climate. We know that redwoods are very slow growing but they did not appear to be thriving. Hopefully we are wrong as this is a unique reserve. Data collection was straightforward and we determined that GZ was among the other caches in the reserve. We walked an approximate circular route looking for eleven caches and we managed to find them all. Accurate coordinates and a familiar style of hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks fitzy_1965 for the cache.

Found 4:52pm with my girlfriend, eleventh find for the day but should have been our first. This cache turned out to be epic. When we first arrived and parked the geovehicle I said we'd just look for the closest cache based on coords. This showed up but I had forgotten that it needed to have a GZ calculated so we spent the next 30 minutes or more going through the closest trees and boy is there a lot of man made junk there. A CITO is definitely needed here in this car park. I even came across syringes. But I still didn't clue into what had gone wrong, we searched and then gave up and I still at this stage had not revisited the description, Stupid me. Giving up for now we then set off to look for next closest cache and then to progress anti-clockwise. After finishing all the other caches we were back here again. Again I searched all around, under and in the trees. The girlfriend by this time had enough. I then decided to look at the description and hint again, d'oh!! That's when it hit me, the coords were only the starting position, after a few expletives I worked out where GZ really was dragging the girl friend along. A reasonably quick find now that I was at the right spot, coords are pretty good.
Thanks for the cache. Grrrrr!!

Out for some caching with Goldenwattle on this warm and sunny Canberra afternoon. Yes, the puzzle was simple and quickly worked out.
We did the cache find as was efficient with respect to the rest of the caches in the series in this place. This larger container was sooo easy to spot! Very Happy
Thanks for the series in this lovely place Fitzy-1965

Good thing about working out this is I can grab a few caches when I go past. Headed past today to check this one out and once at the posted co-ords, the calculations were soon done and the cache found.

Drop a new-ish moveable nearby at the same time, so others have another reason to head on out.

Thanks for the cache fitzy_1965....

We had some spare time today so decided to grab some of the caches in the park. We had a nice stroll although it was a little wet underfoot in the far corner.

I saw these caches come out a while ago but hadn't had a chance to grab them. The Xmas game has given me incentive to leave my cosy building and head out to grab some lunchtime caches. I got to the car park and spotted a cacher under the sign working out the puzzle. I wandered over and introduced myself to andrewbt. It was great to meet him and we enjoyed a nice loop walk around the trees picking up the caches. This big boy was the first on our list - found in good condition. Thanks for all these caches - I will have to come back when I have worked out the Boeing puzzles. TFTC

Tenth for the day!

I was sitting on the rock next to the sign, working out co-ords.. Someone walked over and asked me if I was there for what they were for.. Given a couple of other cars had shown up, I figured I wasn't... I replied "oh, I'm just geocaching"

The woman replied "me too!" and that's how I met Kittycatch!

Got co-ords and began our impromptu caching run around the these awesome pines

Cache was found and while we weren't FTF, still happy that there's so many caches here Clan MinotaurClan Cerberus

I popped out this way to check out a few new GCA caches on my way home from work. With the numbers secured in the headlights of the ute, it was some quick maths and I was soon on my way to GZ. Lots of rabbits spotted with the torch along the way and the prize was soon discovered.
Thanks Fitzy_1965 for another visit to this nice area. I actually read the sign this visit! Rather interesting!

#GA1780 - 16:20; I originally had another cache in mind for today's Xmas in July game, but as I was headed in this general direction, decided that this one might fit the bill. I arrived at the posted coords and quickly located the information I needed. Undertook a bit of arithmetic and soon had a viable looking set of coords, so I set off on the hunt. Made it to GZ and despite a recent heavy shower, managed not to get very wet as I retrieved the cache and discovered a nice blank logbook! Signed off and then headed off again with a big smile and a mission completed. TFTC fitzy_1965 Very HappyClan Cerberus
