S41 22.622 E147 07.507 LAUNCESTON TASMANIA

Launceston is a riverside city in northern Tasmania. It's famed for the Cataract Gorge, with panoramic views, walking trails, sculpted gardens and a chairlift. The Queen Victoria Museum, in a 19th-century railway workshop, has exhibitions on Tasmanian history. Its sister Art Gallery lies across the river, by sprawling Royal Park. The vineyards of the Tamar Valley stretch northwest along the Tamar River. Very Happy

City of Gold Coast

This is a very old sign, I think its been forgotten in the usual attempts to rebrand the city. It marks the boundary between the City of Gold Coast and the Shire of Tweed and at the same time marking the boundary of the states of Queensland and New South Wales.

Thanks for the locationless.

PEAK HILL ROAD
DUBBO, NSW

I have a number of signs announcing the limits of towns and while they range from yuck to beautiful, thus far, the entrance to Dubbo has the nicest signs I have seen. Each entrance is very similar to the photo included here and contain an attractively decorated animal of multicolours. I think all the entrances contain rhinos. I think this is because Taronga Zoo is the home of the Rhino Conservation Breeding Program and thus the signs represent that. I'm kicking myself now that I didn't photograph them all.

Both resident and sea run fish can be caught here, sea run taste the best - especially smoked!! TFTC and cheers OldSaint.

10-Jun-10
This is a little different to what was intended but I hope it still fulfills the requirements of the cache, because I think its in the same spirit - it shows the "city" limits of two suburbs in Adelaide - basically marking where one suburb ends and another begins. So depending on which way you're facing, I guess it's saying "welcome to Joslin" or "welcome to St Peters". But without the welcome bit.
Its also interesting that they chose a stone "mile marker" type sign to do this.

16-May-10

Signs like these are all over the place here to show you wich place you are entering. Although far from being a city, the nice village of Minnamurra is absolutely worthwhile a visit!

WanderingAus wandered by on day 82 of a "climatic refugee" trip and found this "Welcome To Tennant Creek" sign on the outskirsts of town. This is probably the 1,000th or nmore similar sign we've come across, but getting a photo at 80 K is not easy and there usually isn't room to pull up with a caravn in tow.
