Territorial evolution of Australia
The Commonwealth of Australia was formed on 1 January 1901, when the six British colonies of Australia (represented in bold in the list below) were merged to form a single Commonwealth within the British Empire. Apart from Western Australia, all of the founding area of the country was originally part of the Colony of New South Wales, proclaimed in 1787. Since Federation, the only changes to the borders have been the creation, acquisition, or independence of territories.
During the Colonial period of Australia, prior to Federation, the following colonies were founded:
- 25 April 1787 - Colony of New South Wales
- 3 December 1825 - Colony of Van Diemen's Land - renamed the Colony of Tasmania (1 January 1856)
- 2 May 1829 - Swan River Colony - renamed Colony of Western Australia (6 February 1832)
- 19 February 1836 - Province of South Australia
- 16 November 1840 - Colony of New Zealand
- 17 February 1846 - Colony of North Australia - within two years merged back into New South Wales (28 December 1847)
- 1 July 1851 - Colony of Victoria
- ??
- 6 June 1859 - Colony of Queensland
To solve this little puzzle, name the missing colony (no spaces)

Found It!
I worked out the missing colony without too much trouble but was then a bit lost as to what to do next. After the CO pointed out a feature of the GCA website I didn't know about, I soon had a set of coordinates and then went to GZ on the way home from today's event. I found the cache quickly but the screw thread was rather seized and the lid broke off while I was trying to open it. After signing the log, I wrapped the cache and lid up in tape and placed it back under the box. It probably needs replacing with a new nano container.

Thanks to Outdoor nut22 for doing the brainwork for this one, we were off to find a couple of finds in the wonderful historical Windsor!
Even after getting the correct coordinates for this find it took us a moment to find. its been a while since I've found a geocache this micro.

I am really enjoying all the Mystery caches in the area, while some of them still remain a mystery to me this one I cracked and after checking the coords and loading them into my phone we headed off and located the cache, it is still there although the container was a little tricky to unscrew but we got there in the end, it hasn't been opened for sometime. Thanks again TeamMerlin.

Solved last week and headed to GZ on a very hot Australia Day before heading to the event at Tizzana. A short stroll from the car and soon had cache in hand. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC

Turns out this one was my closest to home unfound cache. With the geosports 2018 underway it was time to make a find. Knowing this was not too far off from a regular walk that is taken this morning's walk was extended to GZ, for a quick find. Scoring a bullseye for the shooting disipline of geosports. tftc

Arrived at GZ to find the place deserted...so no problems making the grab. Certainly took some time to get the container opened though...however we managed it eventually and soon had our initials on the log sheet.
Thanks for another one TeamMerlin...and a FTF to boot.

#GA2266 - 10:55; When the States of the Nation game began, a plan was hatched for a group of ACT cachers to take a trip north to the Hawkesbury on a scavenger raid. As time passed the group's numbers dwindled, but with a bit of work solving puzzles and a few things rescheduled, our merry band comprising andrewbt, Sol de lune and I set off on a damp Canberra morning to try our hand. A recent visit to Canberra by cachers from this area provided an added incentive, so we could repay the karma points we gained from their visit. A successful day it turned out to be with 56 finds and only three DNFs. This was a quick find once we reached GZ and with a bit of work, we managed to get the cache open where we found a blank log sheet for a welcome *FTF*. TFTC teamMerlin
