The North Shore Cycleway Bike-Cache Adventure #3

North Shore Cycleway Series #3:

Flatrock to Freeway

Please see the NSCS #1 cache page for the background to the series, route planning and general advice.

This Cache: The next section of the ride is arguably the nicest bit of cycleway this side of the Bridge. "Prentice Park" is located unflatteringly below the Gore Hill Expressway. However the cycle path is separated, well marked, and a joy to ride on. It stretches a mere 1,000m from Artarmon Reserve to Naremburn. Flatrock Creek flows beside you, though it has been canalised or piped most of the way. You can get some real speed up in both directions here! From the Willoughby Council Signage - "Named after Sir William and Lady Prentice, long term residents of Naremburm. Sir William MBE had a long and distinguished military and legal career in Australia and PNG, including the Kokoda Track. Lady Prentice was deeply comitted to helping the disadvantaged in the community and both sharded a lifelong love of the local bushland."

The Final: Just like my original series here there is a puzzle cache final to be found! Collect the bits of co-ords from each of the caches along the way, piece them together, and voila! There will be a bonus box for you to discover at journeys end. Please leave the laminated Co-ords cards in the original caches for others to find.

Wow what a great path. I'd just cone here this morning to do Willoughby parkrun which starts and ends at Artarmon Reserve. I'd run right past GZ, no time to stop so after parkrun and after my morning coffee, I came back to complete the caching business. I;m sure I got a few weird looks from runners and cyclists considering where I was standing, but hey, the photography is good from here. I poke about in each space and finally my stick dislodged the container. Thank goodness as I wasn't putting my arm into that. Quite a large container. I photographed the clue and continued to retrace my steps along Flat Rock Gully track, where I'd just run. Great hide. Great cycleway.

Today I cycled from Chatswood to the Sydney CBD, main goal was to do the North Sydney Cycleways Series by Zalgariath, the rest being logged is collateral damage (I mean finds Smile

While trying to make my way up, I was AAAAAUW THAT HURTS! Bloody f*ck*ng h*ll. Auw auw auw. Some bugger bit me in the hand and that hurt. Needless to say was not up for doing what the hint suggested but that would ruin the whole day and no tiny bugger would bite the same hand twice, would they?

Quickly dotted the required info and went further.

Got the car nearby and walked under the freeway to get here. Once I realised I needed to be up a level the hide was spotted fairly quickly and the signing duties done. Then walked on to get the GC cache a bit further along. 3rd *FTF* for the day. Thanks Zal.
