Description
Traditional geocache in bushland
Ettamogah-spoken really fast backwards actually says ‘how going mate!’
The original creator of the Ettamogah Pub was Ken Maynard (Born: 1928, Albury
Died: 29 September 1998, Gold Coast)who started drawing the Ettamogah Pub in 1959. It was made famous through his regular cartoons in The Australasian Post.
The Ettamogah in Sydney was opened in 2003 and is located on the corner of Merriville road and corner Windsor road, Kellyville Ridge. However it is a copy of the original one at Albury, NSW.
The original Ettamogah pub was built by businessman Lindsay Cooper and first opened in 1987. The aim was to create a themed family restaurant which would become a tourist icon. The timber building featured sloping walls and a distinctive architectural style true to the original cartoon design. Unfortunately, this Venue is no longer operational.
Over the years, other Ettamogah pubs popped up all around Australia making a total of four: including the original in Albury, one at Kellyville, another in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast (1989) and in Cunderdin, Western Australia, built in 2001. The Ettamogah Pub on the Sunshine coast is part of a theme park called ‘Aussie World’ and is a great attraction in Queensland.

A quick find here but the container is a bit broken. I've visited two of the Ettamogah Pubs for geocaching reasons...

After flying in we grabbed our hire car and headed down this way to tackle these caches. We had solved all we could beforehand and the plan was to grab those, and the co-ords for the others out of the caches we found.
After finding the Dinosaurtopia, we continued on a direct route and soon came across the hiding spot of this Ettamogah pub tribute cache. Cache was found without issue and we soon had our names in the log. A neat area to wander around, and from here we simply hit the path just up the hill and headed back to gate and down to the car.
Thanks for another Sambuccasam...
