Description

Phonetic Alphabet - Golf

A nice simple series of caches to help boost your numbers (and mine!!). Scattered around Canberra in groups you may choose to grab them all at once - which will help you towards a number of dragonZone Trophies based on finds per day of the week/month - or maybe do them one a day which will help your dragonZone streak ! Either way have fun and BYO Pen !

The 26 code words in the NATO phonetic alphabet are assigned to the 26 letters of the English alphabet in alphabetical order so that critical combinations of letters and numbers can be pronounced and understood by those who exchange voice messages by radio or telephone regardless of language barriers or the quality of the communication channel. In other words so that messages can be understod without the similarities of the sounds in letters such as b c d e g p t v being responsible for misunderstandings.

The series will consist of:

Alpha - GA10698

Bravo - GA10699

Charlie - GA10700

Delta - GA10701

Echo - GA10702

Foxtrot - GA10703

Logs

What an amazing way to start my holidays from work. Geo-events, traveling, meeting up with friends and finding many different caches made it fun! Big Grin It’s so nice to finally be able to do all these things… again. The following descriptions are my adventures between the days of 12/11/21 and 16/11/21. Each cache has been logged to the end of my adventures for the day of finding them. If you would like to read my full log, please find it on any cache I found on the 16/11/21.
Day #1: I finished work at 4pm and headed over to Wagga for the only GIFF event in NSW. Apart from the CO, I was the first to arrive at the event. It was great to finally attend a Geocaching after many months without them. All talk Geo was had by all until we were told that dinner was ready. Soon after, the popcorn was ready and the movies were on. Congratulations to all the GIFF finalists and they were all a great watch. Also, Congratulations to BMG for receiving the FTF on the event. Then it was time to head home and get ready to head to Canberra for the next few days. Big Grin
Day #2: I was nearly late to my own event. O’well… It was still fun with the small group of us that turned up. We also discovered many Moveable caches before heading off to today’s main goal. This happened to be finding the ‘A’ part of the GA geo-art series as well as the lone GC caches around the area which I hadn’t found as I pasted by them. I wasn’t alone as AKM came for the walk as well. After finding all but the last two we headed our separate ways as it started raining heavier. Hopefully, it won’t be raining tomorrow so the event goes ahead but well will need to see. Also pizza for dinner tonight. Big Grin
Day #3: Today’s adventures included the CCE down in Booroomba and as many of the nearby caches as possible. I didn’t do the walk to the ‘Booroomba Rocks’ but I am still able to log the event. I then headed off with a large group of others to find the nearby caches. After that, I caught a lift with Kittykatch, Joolay, isopeda and Barb2e and we headed down to the ACT boarder finding the caches along the way many caches were found and a new GCA cache placed (Gudgenby – GA25097). It was great to see some ammo cans out in the wild, even if they were slightly damaged by the fires. As we arrived back in Tharwa we had afternoon tea and headed our separate ways. Another great day and so much more to go.
Day #4: Not many finds today, but definitely quality finds including a 2003 cache. Big Grin They are becoming few and far between and it was great to see this one still alive. Many unique locations that I would never have visited if it wasn’t for geocaching. Most caches I found were somewhere along the drive/walk around Mount Stromlo. I also wandered around the Belconnen Mall to do some Christmas shopping. Another great day but my trip away is coming to an end… as tomorrow is my last day. Sad
TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring me and the rest of the caching community enjoyment. Big Grin

Out with Nibletricecakes for a daily gc plus a few gcas. Looking for shots in the Battleship game and this trail of caches fits the bill perfectly. All containers were found quickly. Many spiders were disrupted. TFTC minniek.

Another great day out caching with Joolay after more points in the current game. Thanks to Minniek for the trail up Mt Stromlo, this being one of them and SDL for all his scattered around the area. We continued on and found a few trigs then topped the day off with a stash of movables. All logs were signed and cache returned to their hidey holes. ClappingDancing

More straightforward finds on today's goal of achieving 200 GCA finds. My only difficulty was my fat fingers retrieving the log from these small caches. TFTC Very Happy

Dropped Wilma at school and thought I'd do some caches on the way home. One thing led to another and I was on a roll to collect the GCA caches of the Alpha/phonetic alphabet series. Very happy to have these unfound piles of caches turned into smiles. Smile TFTC minniek.

Found 6:18pm with girlfriend. Out in the Stromlo area to find some caches. A quick easy find. It is annoying though to have to wait for muggles.
Thanks for the cache.

This was the next cache on our trip up the hill. It was raining again and the edges of the road way were awash. The good parking spots made it easier to get out. We did need to jump the little rivers to reach the cache hides. One of us miss judged her jump and a very wet foot resulted. Never mind another cache had been added to our total.

Cache anx contents were dry and in good condition. Again we were treated to a nice view back down the road. The traffic did not bother us as we could hear the vehicles coming before they could see us allowing us to time our retreival, log signing and cache return for times when no traffic muggles could see us. This was a fun game to play in the rain. We're sure our children would have disowned us if they had seen us on this stretch of road.

Thanks Minniek for this cache and the fun it created.

#GA2023 - 16:40; After attending a CITO event at Lake Ginninderra, I decided to head out here again today to continue the hunt and fill another hole in the dZ calendar. I also decided to head to the top of the hill and grab another GC cache first and collect this one on the way back down. Up near the top, I encountered a keen cyclist on his way back down and when I reached this cache, he was headed back up again! I think I prefer caching! Anyway, this one was a quick find and sign on the way back to the bottom, then it was off home again. TFTC minniek Very HappyClan Cerberus
