Description
Our first attempt at a gadget cache
Australian postcodes are allocated to geographic areas to facilitate the efficient processing and delivery of mail to customers. The current four digit numeric postcode system was introduced in 1967 in association with the first mechanised mail processing centre in Australia. Defining postcodes with a geographic boundary isn't an exact process. Postcodes cover most, but not all, of Australia; for example, western Tasmania is not covered by a postcode.
While the first number of a postcode usually shows the state or territory, the second number usually shows a region within the state. Each state's capital city ends with three zeroes, while territorial capital cities end with two zeroes. Capital city postcodes are the lowest postcodes in their state or territory range. Australian postcodes range from 0200 for the Australian National University to 9944 for Cannonvale, Queensland. Some towns and suburbs have two postcodes, one for street deliveries and another for post office boxes. Australia's external territories are also included in Australia Post's postcode system. While these territories do not belong to any state, they are addressed as such for mail sorting. Three scientific bases in Antarctica operated by the Australian Antarctic Research Expeditions share a postcode with the isolated sub-Antarctic island of Macquarie Island (part of Tasmania).
The cache is attached to the outside of our boundary fence, access to GZ is via a narrow laneway, park on the street and a short walk will get you there. When you reach GZ you'll find a device that requires a code to open the cache, once the cache is opened you'll be able to sign the logbook. Enjoy. If we manage to spot you at GZ we'll give you a wave

A great gadget cache, thank you.
Spotted one of Sharnie's Tribe, having ran in to both of them earlier. Didn't spot Jess though!!!!
Thanks, a nice hide.
TFTC.
Took the longer way to walk to this cache, and then it took me quite a while to actually find cache.
Found this cache on a 2 day trip to the NW, covering over 1000 kms and finding around 100 caches of both GCA and GC
A three day trip to the North West Coast of Tasmania
Travel:
Started at Huonville through the Lakes Highway on the central Plateau to Deloraine and out to Sisters Beach; back to Somerset for the night. Various places visited through the next day finding caches, mainly in the Penguin area and back to Goat Island Reserve for the night.
Day three, I was caching around Ulverstone and then back to Huonville.
Total kilometres travelled was 1006 kilometres
Found 16 caches during day 1, 26 on day two and 12 on day three – total 54 found and two DNFs.
Walking:
Over the three days, I took 32664 steps burning 5791 calories to cover a distance of 25.51 kilometres in finding the 54 caches.
This cache:
This was my first cache for day two of the trip. Early morning start, there was little activity at GZ and I was able to perform the caching protocol without being detected by the COs and without waking them up. TeHeHe. Sorry I missed you. It was too early to knock on the door and say hi.
This cache was a quick find. Absolutely loved it!!
It was Sainted at 0645 hours
The near by scene was pretty
TFTC and cheers

We are currently participating in the States of the Nation games running from 16 December 2017 until 21 January 2018.
States of the Nation is a real and virtual geocaching scavenger hunt where your home state will compete against other Australian states to find and hide geocaches. Over the 5 week course of the game there will be hundreds of scavenges that you can track down, find and convert into points for your state. Some scavenges will be easy. Some scavenges will be tough. Some scavenges may be impossible. Don't despair. You are not competing just for yourself; you are competing as a state.
There will be a number of scavenges released on a weekly basis but each scavenge will remain until the end of the game. This means even if you decide to join the game part way through, the early scavenges are still available for you to claim. Scavenges will require you to find a geocache, hide a geocache, attend an event or do something else completely different. The game focuses on all aspects of geocaching and so all cache types, sizes, terrain and difficulty will be up for scavenging. TrigPoints, Events, History, Virtual, Webcam, Podcache and Locationless geocaches are all scavengable, so you're not just looking for a box under a bush. Each week there will be a mix of physical, non-physical and locationless geocaches so even if you are not in a geocache rich area, use the locationless component of scavenger series to get out, find something to log and gain points for your state. If you watch the scavenges as they are released you might also spot the 'not so hidden' patterns and plan for future weeks of the series.
Hiding geocaches will also be a large part of the scavenger series, but please remember this is a game of geocaching and geocaches that you hide should be long lasting, be of good quality and you should be proud of what you hide. Please avoid hiding a geocache just for the day so your state can find it before you archive it. Geocaches that exist for a short period of time may result in any claims on that geocache being disqualified. Play creatively, but also play fairly. More geocachers hiding more geocaches makes for more geocaching fun.
Sorry about the lengthy logs. We are currently aiming for a virtual verbosity trophy. TFTC

Found on a big day of caching with whitewebbs, arrived at GZ to find an item themed with the cache name. Had what was required to open the cache and and a well presented and themed logbook was found. Enjoyed this one

Spotted a few more GA caches that had popped up on the radar which were mainly moveables but in a good position to satisfy one of the dragon zone requirements.
Other dragon zone requirements had to be also met, which included the day of the week plus the day of the month. Sunday had the least dragon zone finds and the 19th of the month had only a couple of finds, so it looks like the dragon zone stars had aligned for today.
The only problem with the weather would be too warm, though all the caches were mostly drive bys, so no real problem there.
Once again, as soon as I had put my hat and boots on, Murder(the younger of the two canine family....4 yo) started to get pretty excited as he just loves both bush walking and travelling around in the geo fourby.
My eldest canine...Sirius...is now too old(16y 10m) to leave the comfort of his bed in front of the wood heater...which has an electric blanket( not needed today though) of course which he just loves and is great for his arthritis. Having walked 100's of km's with me geocaching over the years up numerous mountains, bush walking along many trails plus along vast stretches of beaches etc while geocaching, he has certainly earned his rest..an amazing companion who never gave up no matter how hard it got for him...a truly remarkeable and treasured companion.
The first moveable was "School" which was placed opposite the Burnie High School. Approaching gz and with very accurate coords, I soon spotted the little blighter hiding on the steel fence along side the now disused rail line. Many thanks 'Old Saint' for placing and maintaining the cache for us all to enjoy. Reckon this little cache will take a trek back down south to South Arm where it can travel the 250km dragon zone requirement...cheers ST.
The 2nd GA cache on my travels was 'Postman Pat'.On approaching gz all was quiet but my blind/dumb streak seemed to cut in as my initial search was on the wrong fence. Turned around and omg...how did I not see that?.. gees, even Murder would have done a better job of sniffing it out...lol. Great job with the cache too and this is one cache I can say is surely muggle proof. After manipulating the required part I soon had the log book signed. Many thanks Sharnies Tribe for an excellent gadget cache....cheers ST.
We felt sure we had the tools needed to access this one as we set off. It was a fine morning - twelve degrees in Ulverstone. As we headed to the area of the hide the temperature had dropped to seven degrees and the wind had become quite strong.
All was quiet as we approached GZ when we realised that we hadn't turned on our GPS - never mind we felt sure we knew where it would be. Right again. We found a beautifully presented container, Postman Pat would be very pleased with it. We also had the right tool so access to the log book was not a problem. Again the COs had spent time to prepare an excellent log well protected from the weather. To our surprise the log book was blank so we will claim a {FTF} at 8:50.
All was quiet at the CO's o we decided to wave just in case someone was watching.
Thanks for a very well thought out and presented cache Sharnie's Tribe. A great first gadget cache hide!! And our first gadget cache find.
