Description

Phonetic Alphabet - November

A nice simple series of caches to help boost your numbers (and mine!!). Scattered around Canberra in groups you may choose to grab them all at once - which will help you towards a number of dragonZone Trophies based on finds per day of the week/month - or maybe do them one a day which will help your dragonZone streak ! Either way have fun and BYO Pen ! There is safe parking within 50m of these caches on Black Mountain Drive.

The 26 code words in the NATO phonetic alphabet are assigned to the 26 letters of the English alphabet in alphabetical order so that critical combinations of letters and numbers can be pronounced and understood by those who exchange voice messages by radio or telephone regardless of language barriers or the quality of the communication channel. In other words so that messages can be understod without the similarities of the sounds in letters such as b c d e g p t v being responsible for misunderstandings.

The series will consist of:

Alpha - GA10698

Bravo - GA10699

Charlie - GA10700

Delta - GA10701

I went up the mountain to log a Virtual cache and came down finding GA caches. The log is a bit scrappy, but still okay. TFTC minniek.

A cold wet night to be out caching. Heading up to Telstra tower to meet the crew, GLISS! and I thought we had time to grab a GCA or too. I jumped out to get this one off my solo list. Thanks for the cache.

I had a really frustrating day today as I didn't keep track of exactly which caches I had done to start with, so I had to do them all over again. I eventually completed this trail so thanks Minniek. All caches found and logs signed. Very Happy

Finally got out to do some caching. This 'powertrail' looked to be just what I needed for some quick GA's.
Just a couple of hours before dark on this beautiful, clear Canberra day.
My compliments to Minniek for this lovely jaunt through one of our countries' most scenic areas.
Thanks for the cache Minniek. DancingDancingDancing

Dropped Wilma at school and thought I'd do some caches on the way home. One thing led to another and I was on a roll to collect the GCA caches of the Alpha/phonetic alphabet series. Very happy to have these unfound piles of caches turned into smiles. Smile TFTC minniek.

Found on a quick drive up the hill while out on a work mission with Joolay. Another date filled in my calendar days. I am leaving this series (and others) to use as easy pickups before or after work. Thanks again MinnieK Smile

Found with Kittykatch filling in a day of the month. Quick find and then back to work. Very Happy

After the GC Info Event, I figured it was high time to find these 6 caches along here. Not having a 4WD, finding somewhere to park nearby made it a challenge. Though each cache was found after a slightly longer walk that is likely anticipated. Oh well Very Happy

TFTC MinnieK!

A nice easy find. Used part of the botanic gardens trail instead of walking up the road.

GCA 1818. Lunchtime run find with minniek.

We decided to find one of each others caches today - all of about 40m apart - lol. While I walked up the road for this one she went bush for mine. Quick find.

#GA2178 - 11:35; I saw the continuation of this series published a couple of days ago while I was out of town and thought that they would again prove handy in filling a few blanks on the dZ calendar. That is proving to be the case as I dropped by for a quick find and sign to close another said hole. Parked in a rather convenient spot and quickly had the cache in hand once I reached GZ. A surprising 2TF! TFTC minniek Very HappyClan Cerberus

After spending the morning and the early afernoon looking for caches in the HMAS series we set out to see how many GA finds we could collect. We need to drag our dragon zone caching centre north if we are to have any hope of reaching this trophy challenge. We currently have 37 finds for the 7th of the month.and need 13 more to reach the fifty we need on each day of the month. We also have 187 finds on Tuesday so need 17 to reach 200 for the last Day of the week trophy. Finally we need 13 more difficulty points to reach our Shooting for the Stars trophy. This was the first on we looked for.

After having found the first caches in this series in the rain yesterday we were pleased to see the next six had been published. So today we knew what to look for.

Stopping close to the published coordinates we had no trouble finding this cache and were surprised to see that the log sheet was blank giving us a {FTF} at 14:25. We had to wait for a cyclist to ride passed before replacing the cache.

Thanks Minniek for this cache in the next group of NATO Phonetic Alphabet caches. We were really chuffed to get an ACT ftf.
