Description

Phonetic Alphabet - Papa

A nice simple series of caches to help boost your numbers (and mine!!). Scattered around Canberra in groups you may choose to grab them all at once - which will help you towards a number of dragonZone Trophies based on finds per day of the week/month - or maybe do them one a day which will help your dragonZone streak ! Either way have fun and BYO Pen ! There is safe parking within 50m of these caches on Black Mountain Drive.

The 26 code words in the NATO phonetic alphabet are assigned to the 26 letters of the English alphabet in alphabetical order so that critical combinations of letters and numbers can be pronounced and understood by those who exchange voice messages by radio or telephone regardless of language barriers or the quality of the communication channel. In other words so that messages can be understod without the similarities of the sounds in letters such as b c d e g p t v being responsible for misunderstandings.

The series will consist of:

Alpha - GA10698

Bravo - GA10699

Logs

21-Jun-21
I went up the mountain to log a Virtual cache and came down finding GA caches. The old log is scrappy and has been wet at some time, but someone has left new paper. I signed the old log, as there was still room. TFTC minniek.

I had a really frustrating day today as I didn't keep track of exactly which caches I had done to start with, so I had to do them all over again. I eventually completed this trail so thanks Minniek. All caches found and logs signed. Very Happy

11-Jun-18

Finally got out to do some caching. This 'powertrail' looked to be just what I needed for some quick GA's.
Just a couple of hours before dark on this beautiful, clear Canberra day.
My compliments to Minniek for this lovely jaunt through one of our countries' most scenic areas.
Thanks for the cache Minniek. Dancing Dancing Dancing

Dropped Wilma at school and thought I'd do some caches on the way home. One thing led to another and I was on a roll to collect the GCA caches of the Alpha/phonetic alphabet series. Very happy to have these unfound piles of caches turned into smiles. Smile TFTC minniek.

I did this series as careful walks from good parking spots. The road is popular with bobsled fans who like to let gravity do its best as they drive down this hill. I nearly got wiped out twice. I would recommend that people do not expect to do these as quick drive-bys for safety reasons.

Parking was beside the road on the descent.

After the GC Info Event, I figured it was high time to find these 6 caches along here. Not having a 4WD, finding somewhere to park nearby made it a challenge. Though each cache was found after a slightly longer walk that is likely anticipated. Oh well Very Happy

TFTC MinnieK!

Parking near not easy. Used a turnoff down from the reservoir. An easy find. Thanks

#GA2184 - 17:00; After the big storm yesterday and steady rain this morning, I wasn't sure I would get out today to grab this cache. I missed the park on the way past yesterday and did another in the series out of sequence instead. Took a little more care today and found a spot not too far away and enjoyed another quick find and sign once I reached GZ. Looks like someone else has been out today too! Time to grab a couple of these newer ones to fill in a few holes in the calendar. No problem with this first one and my name was soon in the log....

Thanks Minniek...

While Mrs y'stassie hunted for Oscar Mr y'stassie continued up Black Mountain to look for Papa.

He had a little difficulty finding a suitable parking spot as our street car doesn't cope well with steep edge drop offs. He eventually found a spot further up the road and walked back.He quickly found Papa hiding in a similar spot to the other caches. Again the log sheet was blank giving us our third {FTF} on this series at 14:34.

He thentried to ring the other half of the team to arrange a pick up. He wasn't surprised when he heard her phone ringing in the glove box. Mrs y'stassie is well known for not having her phone with her when it is turned on and not turned on when she has its with her. He decided to find a turning spot and head down to collect her.

Thanks for another cache in this series Minniek.
