Description

Phonetic Alphabet - Sierra

A nice simple series of caches to help boost your numbers (and mine!!). Scattered around Canberra in groups you may choose to grab them all at once - which will help you towards a number of dragonZone Trophies based on finds per day of the week/month - or maybe do them one a day which will help your dragonZone streak ! Either way have fun and BYO Pen ! There is safe parking within 50m of these caches on Black Mountain Drive.

The 26 code words in the NATO phonetic alphabet are assigned to the 26 letters of the English alphabet in alphabetical order so that critical combinations of letters and numbers can be pronounced and understood by those who exchange voice messages by radio or telephone regardless of language barriers or the quality of the communication channel. In other words so that messages can be understod without the similarities of the sounds in letters such as b c d e g p t v being responsible for misunderstandings.

The series will consist of:

Alpha - GA10698

Bravo - GA10699

Charlie - GA10700

Delta - GA10701

I wanted to get out for a ride to give the scooter a run before needing it to travel to work. I had been leaving a cache on Black Mountain this cache till I was ready for a hike, but today it was nicely alone so I could go out for one only. In the end the walk down and then back up again was no where near as difficult as I expected. Nice area. When I got back up I had a bit of time so alose found some nearby GA caches.

Thanks for the cache MinnieK

I had a really frustrating day today as I didn't keep track of exactly which caches I had done to start with, so I had to do them all over again. I eventually completed this trail so thanks Minniek. All caches found and logs signed. Very Happy *

Finally got out to do some caching. This 'powertrail' looked to be just what I needed for some quick GA's.
Just a couple of hours before dark on this beautiful, clear Canberra day.
My compliments to Minniek for this lovely jaunt through one of our countries' most scenic areas.
Thanks for the cache Minniek. Dancing Dancing Dancing

Dropped Wilma at school and thought I'd do some caches on the way home. One thing led to another and I was on a roll to collect the GCA caches of the Alpha/phonetic alphabet series. Very happy to have these unfound piles of caches turned into smiles. Smile TFTC minniek.

I did this series as careful walks from good parking spots. The road is popular with bobsled fans who like to let gravity do its best as they drive down this hill. I nearly got wiped out twice. I would recommend that people do not expect to do these as quick drive-bys for safety reasons.

After the GC Info Event, I figured it was high time to find these 6 caches along here. Not having a 4WD, finding somewhere to park nearby made it a challenge. Though each cache was found after a slightly longer walk that is likely anticipated. Oh well Very Happy

TFTC MinnieK!

#GA2203 - 13:30; After a wet one yesterday, I decided to make a quick dash today to grab this cache and close another hole in the dZ calendar. Parked close to GZ and made a quick find. Log signed and I was soon on my way again and avoided getting wet! I guess it won't be too long to tango Laughing TFTC minniek Very HappyClan Cerberus

The invitation from the CO on the cache page was come and get it. So come and get them we did. We dont often manage more than one ftf when we are travelling so it was a real thrill to get 6 in the ACT.

Having found Romeo Mr y'stassie had noticed the Sierra was quite close so decided to walked the short distance from Romeo.. He quickly found the cache with its pristine log sheet giving us a final {FTF} at 14:50. We felt sure that others would have taken the ftf's but reflected that most Canberrians were working, at cup parties, at the local race course getting redy to watch the ACT's very own horse run or watching the races at home. This would definately have explained the lack of earlier ftf finds. The cache was in good condition.

Thanks for this cache and the other five in this group Minniek. Now we are off to see how close we can get to the 17 GA caches needed for tuesday. With these we have we have 11 to go.
