Description

Hidden in something obvious

This cache is hidden in a fairly obvious place once you get to the spot, the name will give you a clue. The problem is the timing, this is a reasonably busy place, despite appearances, and a night-time sortie will also be difficult given the location.

This one is in honour of a very good hide in Adelaide, which was in turn in honour of a man who invented the Adelaide version of the thing I have hidden this cache in.

So, have fun, I will be watching........

Well that was a surprise when I found it, great cache container, the logbook it a bit wet but still works.

we didn't hold out much hope of finding this one after such a long time since the last find and we felt a little uncomfortable wandering around. As we decided to call it quits SSR magically spotted something that was different and soon had the cache in hand. We were very pleased indeed. A great traditional hide. Logbook is wet and we had none left to offer sorry. Thanks Ghosthoowalks

A comment to stainless steel rat on Thursday night turned into a plan rather quickly over the following 24 hours. After a later than expected Friday night I dragged myself out of bed while the clock still started with a 5, Urgh!
My first stop was the Rats Nest to pick up stainless steel rat and after loading his things in the car we departed at 6.05am. Our first stop was Mood Food for coffee and to find some lunch to throw in the esky for later, followed by a much needed stop at the train park in Perth (to offload the coffee), then it was on to the house of TazScout for another round of coffee.
We spent the whole day caching in various parts of Trevallyn Reserve and then picked up a few other caches as we left there late in the day. We found traditional caches, puzzle caches, a trig point, some moveable caches, a pod cache, a reverse cache, a beacon cache, a gadget cache, a night cache and a multi-cache. We also found a cache of EVERY terrain type from an easy T1 right through to a ‘fun’ T5.
After a late dinner in town, we returned back south with a couple of fresh air stops on the way. After dropping stainless steel rat back at his nest, I arrived home at 11.45pm absolutely exhausted.

We couldnt drive passed this one and also needing a Trad myself today even with it last being found over a year ago it was worth a look. Coords were about 5m out but I searched where I would have put it, a great constructed cache even with the log a little wet (sorry no spares left)
With Goose of GooseandEgg, cache in good order, thanks.
This trip was a spur of the moment thing only first dreamed up on Thursday night, GooseandEgg wanted to clean up a few new caches in the North so with the weather looking good for today we left home at 6am and got back home at 11:30pm. Thanks for great day out.

After setting off all the local dogs, who set off the waiting geobubs, found a very nice cache in the usual spot, after being momentarily led astray by a very jumpy iPhone. Luckily I jagged a muggle-free moment on the street to make the find. Great work, TFTC!

04-Dec-16
Interesting, well made cache, but it needs a new log. TFTC Ghosthoowalks.

29-Feb-16
Quick find whilst on my lunch break.
Very creative and well hidden cache
(Could Ghostoowalks work for a local powercoe? I sense a certain theme with some of your caches Cool )

Parked in the street and headed down towards GZ. Quickly checked as I walked past, grabbed the cache and headed down the path a little further to sign. Log is a little damp, but still ok. Neat hide....thanks again Ghosthoowalks....

27-Nov-15
A creatively constructed cache in a great location. Stopped by to do some fishing to find that the log was a little damp but otherwise ok. Was very careful when replacing as if it were dropped I doubt it could be recovered.. thanks..!!

04-Aug-15
TFTC it was a quick find when I got to GZ. Lunchtime and no one around. Had seen one like this before so I knew where to look

08-Jul-15
Haha! This was pretty cool! A fun find with a friend who has enjoyed caching with me!

06-Dec-14
An interesting cache that was a pleasure to find.
Cheers from the Posspet Boys

05-Sep-14
Not the first time I've come across this clever trick so an easy find for me, though I did need to move away for the signing. A little worrying on replacement that things didn't inadvertently plunge back into the depths again if I got it round the wrong way but all good.

20-Apr-14
A quick find. Had a fair idea what we were looking for. Noone about when we visited. TFTC

20-Apr-14
Quick find but had to hover about and look harmless waiting for locals to drive off. TFTC

07-Jan-14
Nice quick drive by this one. On approaching GZ had an idea where it might be. Jumped out, retrieved, signed, replaced, back in car and off we went. Log book a bit soggy. TFTC

02-Nov-13
787. A very nice hide for which the retrieval was made tricky by the bloke washing his car in the next driveway. Shielded from him and started pulling and then realised it was going to be a while that way, so I walked away holding it. Came back and dropped/reattached in one action after logging some distance away.

TFTC and the stringer.

Initially didn't read the notes to close so started off in wrong direction then thought it through, confirmed when re-read note, Log intact but wet. Think the owner may have even came home after it secured back in it's hide Very Happy

09-Feb-13
Thanks choppersrule for retrieving the cache from the depths and getting this one up and running again. Our nearest to home unfound has been like a beacon on our map for the last 18 months. We are extremely happy to finally see the beacon vanquished. TNLNSL. TFTC Smile

04-Feb-13
went and fixed this one today took my tools and retreved the cache and replaced it back where it was hidden should be an easy find now Clapping

08-Jul-12
Hi. Very sure I have the correct hiding spot but it has fallen down inside what it hides in. Looked down and could see a container but could not retrieve it. Can the owner please attend and remedy the situation.

12-Jun-12
A very quick cursory search late in the day at this exposed location. I notice this hasn't been logged for over 8 months. Any hints/advice or even confirmation the cache is still in place would be greatly received. Will watch future logs with interest.

02-Nov-11
This was a nice quick drive by, and ducked back to the car to fill in the log book as felt a bit conspicuous at GZ. Very well hidden cache. Thanks for the hunt Ghosthoowalks and greetings from Mandurah WA.

16-Jul-11
Good cache but as others have said; who's watching? Bit hard to tell, but we couldn't see any faces at windows. Could be that the neighbours are saying "just someone else logging that cache, dear.."
Bit hard to be inconspicuous but we did our best!

09-Jun-11
Very clever hide. Enjoyed this cache, haven't seen one like this before.

02-Apr-11
Loved this cache. Very cool hide. Found easily. TFTC.

23-Mar-11
Pulled up there and wondered where this cache might be. At first gps wanted to take me into private land. Once it settled and I read the description and logs I knew what and where I was looking. I saw a muggle (or was it) in the window and as he turned away, I grabbed the cache. Bit of a surprise there when I got it. Nice one. SL and returned as stealthy as I could once muggle was looking away again. Great cache and spot. TFTC.

18-Feb-11
Great hide, but who was watching? TFTC

11-Jul-10
Great little hide, well set up, always good to find something different. TFTC

08-Jul-10
What a great cache. Easy to find, but a great hide and device. One of the best I have seen. TFTC and the experience

01-Jun-10
Very clever little cache! have only just started with my younglings during the holidays they were 'hooked' after we 'strung' this find up!

06-May-10
The street was quiet and thanks for that. Felt a bit obvious with this one and hope no one was looking. An easy find and a good hide. Thanks

14-Apr-10
Wow! Talk about being in a fishbowl. No one on the street but who could have been watching from behind closed doors? A very nifty hide. TFTC

03-Apr-10
Very clever!!! Liked this cache, thanks.

31-Mar-10
Today all was quiet, nothing stirred, not even a . . . Well, you get the jist - everyone must have been at lunch. A quick find and retrieval of an interestingly presented cache. TFTC

26-Mar-10
Found at 0744hrs. GPS was playing up a bit but managed the find and to log the cache. Very clever hide. TFTC and cheers OldSaint.

09-Nov-09
Very cool hide, I always enjoy something out of the ordinary.
Parked right next to the hiding spot, hoping to do a quick log and replace and just as I finish the rubbish truck thunders round the corner - so I move to a free section of street and wait out the truck as it does its business. Thanks for the cool hide.

06-Oct-09
Someone has obviously put some effort into the construction of this container! Nice hide too Smile I looked around as best I could, and hoped that there was no one peering out a window wondering what I was up to.

06-Oct-09
What an awesome cache container!! I agree the cache is in an obvious spot but it's muggle central here during the day. Thankfully we grabbed a break in the muggles and nabbed the cache oh so quickly.

31-May-09
GREAT HIDE BUT VERY EXPOSED.

17-May-09
Was a bit puzzeled at first wasn't what i was expecteing great hide well done. was any body whatching? SL TFTC

03-May-09
A very ingenious set up. Felt a bit of a goose hauling this out with all the houses and would be mugglers around. Always interesting to find something a bit different. Thanks Ghosthoowalks.

great cache a lot of work gone into this one well done

05-Apr-09
very sneaky had the boss of the tribe scratching her head for awhile....lol
she had a trainee with her and had them both mmmmmmmmm

thnx for this one

19-Feb-09
No hassle working out where the cache was, but a huge amount of hesitation about whether or not to pull over and look for it. It was just on twilight and there was plenty of activity in the nearby houses. Anyway, I parked up the road a bit, plucked up some courage, wandered down and enjoyed finding a neat hide. TFTC!

01-Jan-09
Found this one in the company of MadChili. Thought it was a good thoughtful hide. Thanks.

01-Jan-09
Found with GabMil, thanks to Shazcol for putting the cache back in place

12-Dec-08
I found a piece of dead wattle on the ground near the walkway and fashioned a device to retrieve the cache fairly easily. Felt like I had several eyes watching me from nearby houses while extracting and replacing. No doubt the owner or some one in the know. This is the closest cache to our house and we have walked past it many times without knowing on our evening walks. This cache is back in business now.

26-Nov-08
Im not going to log a DNF cause I can see it but just not reach it, I had a go at this one a month or so ago and accidentally knocked it out of reach, I called in today to grab it as I had let the owner know what I had done and had hoped it may have been fixed, next time I am going past I will take a hook with me to fish it out

17-Sep-08
Another find with Snuva, who knows just where to look. What a great way to round of a busy work day.

17-Sep-08
Third easy find of the evening, which put MullinItOvr and I in a great mood! I needed a good 'wind-down' after conducting a workshop all day!

Thank you for the cache,

Knew exactly where this one would be as soon as I stopped. Retrieved quickly and retired to the steps to log. Great container.
TNLN, thanks Ghosthoowalks.

Found this one when I was Mrs Cheesy Pig. I have since struck out on my own, and am logging my own finds, and this was one of them. TFTC Big Grin

27-Jul-08
12:47 pm - A particuarly nasty hide similar to one we searched for in Gosford without success. Not the case this time though, although there were plenty of people watching when we arrived. Probably one of them the owner of the cache. Well done.

20-Jul-08
Finally got back to grab this one as the last time I attempted it there was a man washing his car right next to the spot I was sure the cache was located so I never logged it as a DNF because I never got to look.
The cache was located where I thought would have been so finally got a find…
What a great container, hope it can ‘hang on’ as it would be a shame to see it fall to a certain death!!!!

17-Jul-08
Nice hide, I like the container.
Nice little place, ill haft to explore it one day.
I hope that none of the houses were watching, lol
Thanks for the cache, keep the good work up!

04-Jul-08
Nice hide. Although as we drew close I was convinced I knew where it was it was still an enjoyable find.
Thanks Ghostwhowalks

04-Jul-08
Parked almost on GZ and gspblu reckoned he knew exactly where it was so naturally I went in the opposite direction hoping he might be wrong....he wasn't.
Great hide Ghosthoowalks, thanks!

23-Jun-08
Arrived just as the garbo truck came...making heaps of noise. Initially the co-ords put me off...until I finally twigged. Nice hide and great container. Could see the towers on Mt. Barrow as plain as.Many thanks Ghosthoowalks....thought I may have felt a presence there...Cheers.

01-Jun-08
SEEN THIS HIDING PLACE BEFORE BUT NOT THE CONTAINER,EXCELLENT AND WELL THOUGHT OUT. BIG CRINGE FACTOR THOUGH. WELL DONE

17-May-08
Found this ingenious contraption fairly easily.
Many thanks GHW and welcome to the Tas caching scene.
