Description
A cache with a good view of the Huon River and the Wooden Boat Centre
A short walk and all will be revealed. Please note the signs in the area.
This is my second gadget cache. Not too difficult for those used to the methodology but more so for those who are not!
At GZ you will find a container in which is another container to keep its contents dry. Please bring your own pen as I'm not sure if I put one in the cache or not. After signing the log sheet please replace all containers as found for the longevity of the cache and enjoyment of other cachers.
To access the cache, patience will be the tool.
As this area is proned to high muggle activity, PLEASE hide as HIDDEN so it is not easily seen THANKYOU!

Hi OldSaint....on the way home after a great days caching in the Southern Forest.
Accurate coords led to a quick find but took a minute or two to open...seen these before but had a memory lapse.
I suspect previous finder may have extracted log by wrong means as it was all scrunched up.
A bit mire business to attend to before the long drive home.
A top gadget cache....thoroughly enjoyed....cheers ST.

Journey or Destination
Game Period: 01-Dec-2018 00:00:00 to 31-Jan-2019 23:59:59 AEST
It is sometimes said [citation needed] that the game of geocaching is not about the destination it is about the journey. This game is about the choices you make in the experience of the journey or the destination.
On your entry to the game you will be asked to create a playing field with a number of ground tiles. Your playing field is a grid 20 x 20 ground tiles making a total number of 400 possible steps you can take on your journey or destination. You choose whether you want to find and follow the path or whether you wanted to meander around. A playing field is unique to each player so there is no benefit in teaming up to beat the system through brute force.
For each qualifying geocache that you hide or find during the game period you will be offered the opportunity to click on a ground tile and reveal what lies beneath. There are a number of different ground tiles that will be revealed when you click on your playing field. It should be noted that there are no punishments for clicking a tile but there will not always be the reward you were hoping for as you reveal each tile.
Dirt. The ground beneath the ground tile is just plain old brown dirt.
Dirt with some points. The ground beneath the tile is brown dirt but it has some points associated with it.
Concrete. The ground beneath is part of the pathway that will lead you on your way to your destination but has no point value.
Start. A concrete ground tile that has a blue map marker.
Destination. A ground tile that has a green map marker.
Meandering around and avoiding the path will accumulate points that will be used to place on you the ladder of wanderers. The more you stay off the path the higher the number of points you will accumulate and it will be your journey that will be the determining factor in whether you place into a prize winning position. You are free to select any ground tile to click on; they do not need to be next to each other.
Trying to find the path may mean you strike out on the dirt until you eventually come across the path and as a geocacher who can't say that this isn't a tried and true method. Once you find the path however will you try and follow the path as it changes direction around your playing field? Do you go North, South, East or West to try and find the next concrete tile along the path? If you head one way are you heading towards the start or towards the destination? When you do happen upon the destination tile then you will automatically be in a winning position.
At any point you are free to change from the journey to the destination and vice versa but you won't be able to regenerate your playing field. You are also free to keep playing as long as you have qualifying geocaches, accumulating more and more dirt tile points and placing you higher and higher on the ladder.
Qualifying geocaches fall into two categories. Finds and Hides.
A qualifying find is a geocache that meets the following criteria:
The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia
The geocache has a hidden date prior to the game commencing
The geocache was logged by you on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period
The geocache was physically found by you during the game period
The geocache is not owned by you unless it is a moveable geocache
The geocache has not previously been found by you during the game period
The geocache is one of the following types:
Burke and Wills
Moveable (you will qualify only once for a find on a moveable geocache)
Traditional
TrigPoint
Augmented Reality
Beacon
Gadget
Multi-cache
Night Cache
Podcache
Reverse
Unknown or Mystery
A qualifying hide is a geocache that meets the following criteria:
The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia
The geocache has a hidden date after the game has commenced
The geocache was published on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period
The geocache has a container size of regular or larger (Note: A regular geocache has a volume of 1 litre or more)
The geocache is one of the following types:
Moveable
Traditional
Augmented Reality
Beacon
Gadget
Multi-cache
Night Cache
Podcache
Reverse
Unknown or Mystery
The game tracking mechanism relies upon your honesty when logging geocaches as found or hidden.
The games administrators will undertake verification of a statistically significant number of logs.
Players who continually log inaccurate information will be disqualified from the game. The game administrators decision is final.
The game administrators will subtract qualifying hide or find geocaches from your tally if they are found to be not genuine.
The game administrators reserve the right to provide clarifications to the rules at any point during the game.
Don't forget to claim your limited time game trophies, if your qualify, while the game is in progress. Once the game completes the ability to claim your trophies is lost for ever.

Oh great some more GA caches near this old time challenge cache. I found it in the second place I looked and was very pleased to see it was plastic - I have had a lot of trouble with the wooden ones. I waited till some walkers went past and sat at the table drinking my coffee and opening the gadget. Soon the log was signed and I was on my way. TFTC Old Saint
Hi OldSaint, thanks for the cache and for showing me this great little track. I have seen such gadgets so it didn't take too long before the log was signed, and the cache back in its neat hidey hole.
Down at Franklin with geoSonA for cricket, so went for a walk to see what I might find!
Cheers, EPs.

Thanks for this gadget cache OldSaint. Out and about today with RLD4963 and the GeoGSP, enjoyed a great day exploring the beautiful Huon Valley and the channel. Great location for this cache - terrific little walkway alongside the river. Had to use the hint to locate the cache and then once found it was a matter of just being a bit patient to retrieve the log. Took advantage of the nearby picnic table and soon had the log in hand. Cache and log all in good condition - and everything returned safe and sound to it's hiding place. Cheers.

Found on the Toolbox And Swampy Caching trip of Southern Tasmania.
We started at Cockle Creek this morning and worked our way up from there.
We have been to caves, a point, trigs, quarries, cemeteries and history boards.
A tricky cache - Toolbox found it but couldn't work out how to get into it without resorting to using tools. I opened it.
Thanks for the cache OldSaint!

Hello Oldsaint thank you for the cache.
I was on my way back from Cockle Creek and stopped off to try and find your cache.
The cache was found easily enough and I took it to the nearby table to work out how to get into it I was soon into the gadget box and had the log signed.

We had decided to begin our early morning walk nearby even though it was very wet under foot after overnight rain and the skies were very dark. There were no other walkers on the track and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. No doubt that there would be large numbers of birds in the bushes and skinks and small animals scuttling around when the weather is fine. No need to worry about snakes this morning.
As we approached GZ we spotted a potential hide and soon had uncovered the little container. We smiled when we extracted the gadget and, as we own one of these, we soon had the log book in hand. Container and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for the cache Old Saint and for bringing us back to an area we had visited before.

found on a misty morning with the family and stainless-steel-rat. The girls enjoyed trying to open it, finally getting in after passing it back and forth.
We are on our way south for a new Zimmyfam cache and to meet 3/4 of the team/family after our find and caving expedition.
Thanks old mate.

We had a great day out with two of our daughters and one granddaughter. We love this part of the island and always enjoying visiting here. The rhodos and azaleas are a wonderful sight at present. We knew the walk to GZ as we had previously found another cache nearby. While walking along the track our little cheetah quite calmly said to her Pop ‘oh there’s a snake down there in the grass’! Just as well I wasn’t next to them or it would have been a hasty retreat back to the safety of the car for me! The gadget container was easily found and as we have seen this type before the log was quickly released, signed, all put back together as found and returned to its hide. We then went to Ranelagh for a most delicious veggie burger, coffee and other delights at the General Store. Next stop was Leslie Vale and you know what happened there. Thanks for the cache, Old Saint, our first gadget one.

Gee wasn't Mrs W just down in Huonville the other day for a FTF and now there are another five FTFs on offer. The lure proved too great and we set off early this morning, as Mr W had to be back for a bit of practice at Rosny before for his bowls games tomorrow. We got caught in the peak hour traffic of workers heading into town (have forgotten what it is like as we don't need to travel at this time now we have retired). Once we had cleared town we enjoyed the drive south (admiring the work going into the constantly changing road works at Kingston). It looked like there had been early morning drizzle as the roads were damp and it was certainly colder than the other day when Mrs W visited (it is always colder on the western side of the River Derwent). We arrived at GZ after collecting 4 FTFs on the moveables and located the gadget. Taking the gadget back to the nearby seating we set about retrieving the log. Mrs W gave Mr W the task as he had not found a gadget cache before. It did not take long and the log was in hand. A neat gadget cache. We were pleased it was cold and damp today as we have seen the biggest (what you are warned to look out for) on this track when seeking out another cache a few years ago. FTF at 09:55 am. TFTGC
