Description

Sheoak

Royal Park is the largest of Melbourne’s parks, covering 170 hectares, and its wide open stretches of open grass alternate with areas of lightly timbered eucalypt forest, home to possums and a huge variety of birdlife, including rosellas, wrens, robins and birds of prey. You can also choose your sport, and you'll find the facilities, whether tennis, golf, football, baseball, cricket, netball, hockey, cycling or walking.

This geocache will take you into the lesser visited section of Royal Park where you can stroll around in amongst the trees and on paths, made and unmade until you decide that the time is ripe to find this geocache.

You are looking for a 200ml sistema container hidden in a logical location

So the GC Parkville mega event came to a close and I was still yet to find these GCAs, so since our hotel was 'Kinda' on the way I mentioned to my co-cacher "Please just 4 more" Sick

I ended up walking this trail and finding 4 GCA geocaches in good condition. I spotted mattycat on my trails and mentioned to him to do them too which I can see from the logs that he did just that - my mission to get people logging GCA caches succeeded, if just a little bit.

Thanks Caughtatwork for putting these caches out for me to find.

Not sure I will have any luck turning these caches griffin yellow, but I did my little bit!

Found on a very hot day at the Mega. Went in search of some other nearby caches but they involved too much driving and certainly weren’t walkable. I was pleased these were within my capabilities and a nice pleasant walk in the shade TFTC

I traveled back home to SA from Perth for family reasons and decided that Melbourne is only a short hop from Adelaide, so I logged an attendance at the Parkville Mega event and headed over for 5 days in Melbourne. I hired an E bike and had it for 4 days so was able to get around to many places and grab lots of caches as well as biking from the Youth Hostel in North Melbourne to Parkeville which was only a short ride. I attended the event on Saturday and caught up with some west ozzies and we headed out and grabbed all the lab caches and when i had some spare time headed out to grab some GCA caches close by. I would like to find more of your caches but that will be another time. This was a very quick and easy find. Thanks for bringing me here and the cache Caughtatwork. ClappingClan Minotaur

On the way to the mega event walking from where I was staying at the Motel up on Sydney Road.

I saw these three GCA caches were near to the path I was taking so diverted over to find them.

Cache was found without any issues. Log signed and cache returned as found.

Thanks caughtatwork for the cache.

Like all the recent finders, we found this while attending the Parkville Mega. There was no one else at any of the Royal Park GCA caches when we were finding them... surprising with the action going on at them today. TFTC caughtatwork.

I happily persuaded Kato Potato to take the long route back to the car and we found this cache on the way. Well, she found it which I think may have helped me persuade her to the GCA dark side. TFTC caughtatwork! Clan Phoenix

The cache name was cool and with the GPSr playing nicely this one was a very quick find. Log signed and I was off for the last one along here.

#GA2595 - 17:30; In Melbourne for a few days to visit the geoaunt in hospital and with a bit of time between visiting hours, I headed over to Royal Park to hunt down a few caches before the madness of the Mega later in the year. It was nice to find free parking and I was soon off along the trail. This was the last stop for the mission which resulted in a combined total of twelve GCA/GC finds and a solitary DNF. I thought I spotted the likely hide from a fair way out, but as I closed in the GPSr moved a little to another location which matched the cache name. Four out of five GCA finds, so pretty happy with that and all that I managed to find were in good condition. TFTC caughtatwork Very HappyClan Cerberus

A nice stroll and another quick find with no muggles around. I avoided the hint this time and happily the hide was obvious once at gz. After signing the log I dropped on a couple of swaps.
Thanks caughtatwork for the cache.

On the way home from a New Year's Eve Geocaching meetup... I took the scenic route to log a last handful of GA caches for the year (ignoring the GC caches nearby for the moment, as I have other plans for them).

Thanks for the new hides, C@W.

Our walk continued round the edge of the park. A light breeze had sprung up making our walk even more pleasant. There was absolutely noone but us in this section. It is really nice to find such well kept large areas so close to the CBD.

We particularly like the range of Sheoaks that we have found on our caching trips around the country. They range from very low shrubs to towering trees. Most have the distinctive little spikey cones and the long pendulas needles.

Once again we found accurate coordinates lead us to a quick find of another carefully hidden cache.

We stood at the fence and signed the log while we watched the steady stream of cyclists rode by on the path below. Again we found a pristine log book giving us a third {FTF} at 18:50.

Thanks for another cache in this little series Caughtatwork.
