Description

Emergency Assembly Area

Royal Park is the largest of Melbourne’s parks, covering 170 hectares, and its wide open stretches of open grass alternate with areas of lightly timbered eucalypt forest, home to possums and a huge variety of birdlife, including rosellas, wrens, robins and birds of prey. You can also choose your sport, and you'll find the facilities, whether tennis, golf, football, baseball, cricket, netball, hockey, cycling or walking.

This geocache will take you into the lesser visited section of Royal Park where you can stroll around in amongst the trees and on paths, made and unmade until you decide that the time is ripe to find this geocache.

At this location you may be intrigued by the Emergency Assembly Area sign that appears to be facing the train tracks. One presumes that this is a remnant of some works on the wrong side of the tracks as this from this side of the fence this would be a highly inappropriate emergency assembly area.

You are looking for a black bison tube hanging around this location.

The crew were assembled down by the tracks putting the truck up on its track wheels.
Not sure what's going on as the truck is parked at right angles to the tracks.
An easy find thanks to the hint. A nice big hole int the fence right here.
Thanks for the EAA cache caughtatwork.

After attending the GC Mega event nearby Mummy Short Legs and I could not help but grab a few GA caches on the way back to the car. This was a lovely stroll in the right direction but once we got there we had a lot more trouble locating GZ than anticipated. Unfortunately there were no signs in evidence. Luckily Mummy Short Legs discovered the hide after wandering a little further afield. Thanks for the cache caughtatwork.

So the GC Parkville mega event came to a close and I was still yet to find these GCAs, so since our hotel was 'Kinda' on the way I mentioned to my co-cacher "Please just 4 more" Sick

I ended up walking this trail and finding 4 GCA geocaches in good condition. I spotted mattycat on my trails and mentioned to him to do them too which I can see from the logs that he did just that - my mission to get people logging GCA caches succeeded, if just a little bit.

Thanks Caughtatwork for putting these caches out for me to find. This one took me a little longer to find than the others but got there in the end.

Not sure I will have any luck turning these caches griffin yellow, but I did my little bit!

I traveled back home to SA from Perth for family reasons and decided that Melbourne is only a short hop from Adelaide, so I logged an attendance at the Parkville Mega event and headed over for 5 days in Melbourne. I hired an E bike and had it for 4 days so was able to get around to many places and grab lots of caches as well as biking from the Youth Hostel in North Melbourne to Parkeville which was only a short ride. I attended the event on Saturday and caught up with some west ozzies and we headed out and grabbed all the lab caches and when i had some spare time headed out to grab some GCA caches close by. I would like to find more of your caches but that will be another time. This was a very quick and easy find even though there is no emergency assembly area sign there any more. Thanks for bringing me here and the cache Caughtatwork. ClappingClan Minotaur

On the way to the mega event walking from where I was staying at the Motel up on Sydney Road.

I saw these three GCA caches were near to the path I was taking so diverted over to find them.

Cache was found without any issues. Log signed and cache returned as found.

Thanks caughtatwork for the cache.

We must be one of the few finders who didn't think to look for the sign. Very Happy We were so excited about finding another GCA trad it didn't occur to look for anything more than the cache. A quick easy find with great co-ordinates. TFTC caughtatwork.

Alas, the absence of a sign made this more difficult, with both Kato and I trying two different areas repeatedly. Eventually, I read previous logs, followed a clear geotrail and persisted. A cache then presented itself. TFTC caughtatwork!

Found this one at 11:50 on an R&R day while on the way home from dropping the girls off for their snow trip. Alas, the sign is now lying on the ground on the tracks side of the fence but the coordinates are good enough to drive one home. Very Happy

Next stop on this walk and a quick look at the hint for this one made for a quick find at the GZ. Signed the log while looking over towards the 'tunnel'. Interesting angle to see it from.

Thanks for another one....

#GA2592 - 16:15; In Melbourne for a few days to visit the geoaunt in hospital and with a bit of time between visiting hours, I headed over to Royal Park to hunt down a few caches before the madness of the Mega later in the year. It was nice to find free parking and I was soon off along the trail. This was the first stop and while wearing shorts mightn't have been the best attire, I made my way through the low bushes to GZ for a quick find and sign. TFTC caughtatwork Very HappyClan Cerberus

I was avoiding traffic again and decided a walk would be nice and as a bonus I could grab these last few caches. A nice quick find here using the hint, although I don't think I really needed it.
Thanks caughtatwork for the cache.

On the way home from a New Year's Eve Geocaching meetup... I took the scenic route to log a last handful of GA caches for the year (ignoring the GC caches nearby for the moment, as I have other plans for them).

Thanks for the new hides, C@W.

After findung Log It we continued on our circuit walk of the park heading for the nearest cache. We met a few walkers and riders but they were busy getting to their destinations and not interested in what was going on around them.

Again accurate coordinates led us to a carefully hidden little cache. We made our way carefully to this cache as we had to negotiate some thickish bushes.

No seat at this cache so we signed the log book, which was blank and replaced the container. This was our second {FTF} for our evening walk at 16:45.

Thanks for this cache Caughtatwork. We were really enjoying visiting these quiet edges of Royal Park.
